Cole Sulser RP | TB
Rays' Cole Sulser: Set to open Monday's contest
Sulser is listed as the Rays' opening pitcher for Monday's game against the Phillies in Philadelphia.
Sulser hasn't covered more than 2.2 innings in any of his 39 appearances between the majors and Triple-A this season, so he's unlikely to work more than once through the batting order before exiting the contest. Tyler Alexander will likely be deployed in bulk relief behind Sulser.

Ty Madden P | DET
Tigers' Ty Madden: Grabs first win as bulk reliever
Madden (1-0) allowed a run on five hits and a walk while striking out seven over five innings to earn the win over the Athletics on Sunday.
Madden entered the game in the second inning after Beau Brieske pitched a scoreless first as the opener. Through three outings (one start), Madden has been sharp, pitching to a 2.57 ERA, though he has a less impressive 1.21 WHIP and 10:4 K:BB over 14 innings in the majors. It appears the Tigers are comfortable sheltering Madden behind an opener even against soft opponents. He's tentatively projected to make his next appearance at home versus the Orioles.

Kirby Yates RP | LAA
Rangers' Kirby Yates: Secures 29th save
Yates walked one and struck out none in a scoreless and hitless inning to earn the save in Sunday's 7-4 win over the Angels.
Yates has pitched four of the last five days and secured a save in each of those appearances. He's allowed just one run over his last 9.1 innings since his lone blown save of the year Aug. 18. The 37-year-old is up to 29 saves in 30 chances while maintaining a stellar 1.29 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 79:24 K:BB over 55.2 innings this season. He'll be able to grab some rest with Texas' team off day Monday.

Anthony Gose RP | NYM
Guardians' Anthony Gose: Receives call-up
The Guardians selected Gose's contract from Triple-A Columbus on Sunday.
The left-hander elected free agency after being designated for assignment by Cleveland in late August, though he re-signed on a minor-league deal a few days later. Gose has pitched in just two big-league games this season but has a 3.27 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 58:26 K:BB across 41.1 innings at Triple-A.

Chris Martin RP | TEX
Red Sox's Chris Martin: Unavailable due to illness
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Martin was unavailable Sunday against the White Sox since the reliever was feeling under the weather, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.
It's unclear when the ailment first surfaced for Martin, but he hasn't pitched since he gave up four runs to the Mets on Wednesday. The 38-year-old should be considered day-to-day heading into Monday's series opener against the Orioles.

Will Klein RP | LAD
Athletics' Will Klein: Shelved at Triple-A
Triple-A Las Vegas placed Klein on its 7-day injured list Aug. 31 with an unspecified injury.
Acquired from the Royals at the trade deadline, Klein initially reported to Oakland and made three appearances for the big club before being optioned to the minors Aug. 17. He gave up three earned runs on six hits and five walks over 5.1 innings across four outings prior to landing on Las Vegas' IL.

Beau Brieske RP | DET
Tigers' Beau Brieske: Opening Sunday's game
Brieske will serve as the Tigers' opening pitcher for Sunday's game against the Athletics.
Brieske will make his ninth start of the season and will likely cover an inning or two before exiting the contest. Ty Madden could serve as the primary pitcher, though Detroit hasn't officially announced its pitching plans for when Brieske leaves the game.

Janson Junk RP | MIA
Athletics' Janson Junk: Clears waivers
The Athletics outrighted Junk to Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday.
Junk will remain in the Oakland organization after he was recently designated for assignment for a third time this season. The 28-year-old right-hander has made six appearances at the big-league level in 2024 between Milwaukee and Oakland, logging a 14.62 ERA and 3.25 WHIP in eight innings.

Brandon Bielak SP | ARI
Athletics' Brandon Bielak: Summoned to big leagues
The Athletics selected Bielak's contract from Triple-A Las Vegas on Sunday.
He'll provide Oakland will a fresh arm out of the bullpen heading into Sunday's series finale with the Tigers while he joins the Athletics' 28-man roster as a replacement for lefty Brady Basso, who was sent back to Las Vegas after starting in Saturday's 2-1 loss. After being acquired from the Astros in mid-May, Bielak gave up two earned runs across 5.2 innings over his three relief appearances before Oakland cast him off its 40-man roster two weeks following the trade.

Brady Basso SP | ATH
Athletics' Brady Basso: Sent down after strong start
The Athletics optioned Basso to Triple-A Las Vegas on Sunday.
Basso will head to Triple-A after he turned in an impressive first MLB start in Saturday's 2-1 loss to the Tigers, taking a no-decision while recording six punchouts over six scoreless frames. Despite the strong showing, the Athletics will swap Basso off the active roster in favor of a fresh bullpen arm in Brandon Bielak, who was called up from Las Vegas on Sunday. Unless the Athletics place another player on a reserve list in a corresponding move, Basso will have to wait another 15 days before potentially rejoining the big club.
