Royals' Hunter Harvey: Avoids serious injury
Harvey reported improvement with his back Monday and is considered day-to-day, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
Harvey had to be removed from Sunday's appearance against the Cubs with lower-back spasms. He has not been placed on the injured list and looks to have avoided a serious injury. Harvey has yielded one run with a 2:4 K:BB over 2.2 innings since coming over to the Royals in a trade.

Gerson Garabito SP | MIL
Rangers' Gerson Garabito: Recalled from minors
The Rangers recalled Garabito from Triple-A Round Rock on Monday.
Garabito was sent down to Round Rock on Thursday to make room on the 26-man roster for Dane Dunning, but the former is eligible to return to the big club early since Jon Gray (groin) was placed on the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move. Though Garabito will be deployed out of the bullpen in his return to the big club, he could be a candidate to eat innings Friday versus the Red Sox, when Gray's next turn through the rotation is scheduled to come up. Garabito has made eight starts across 11 outings in Triple-A this season, logging a 3.56 ERA and 1.02 WHIP over 48 innings.

Chris Martin RP | TEX
Red Sox's Chris Martin: Slated for side session
Martin (elbow) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Wednesday, Rob Bradford of WEEI.com reports.
Martin has been on the injured list since July 5 with right elbow inflammation, but he's set to advance to the final phase of his recovery program if his upcoming bullpen session goes well. Assuming he escapes the workout no worse for the wear, Martin could begin a rehab assignment as soon as this weekend. Martin owns a 3.42 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 10 holds across 26.1 innings this season.

John Schreiber RP | KC
Royals' John Schreiber: Placed on 15-day IL
The Royals placed Schreiber on the 15-day injured list Monday with a right knee patella tendon injury.
Schreiber suffered the injury during a relief appearance Sunday against the Cubs. The Royals haven't provided a timeline for Schreiber's return from the IL, but he'll be out of commission for at least two weeks. Will Klein was recalled from Triple-A Omaha to replace Schreiber in the bullpen.

The Red Sox optioned Weissert to Triple-A Worcester on Monday, Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe reports.
