  • Blair Calvo RP | DET

Rockies' Blair Calvo: Dropped from 40-man roster

Calvo was designated for assignment by the Rockies on Thursday.

This move clears out 40-man roster space for Jorge Alfaro, who is joining the Rockies on Thursday. Calvo made his MLB debut last month and retired all three batters he faced, but the 27-year-old has posted a rough 7.43 ERA in 23 innings this season at the Triple-A level.

  • Pirates' Yerry De Los Santos: Recalled from Triple-A

Pittsburgh recalled De Los Santos from Triple-A Indianapolis on Thursday.

De Los Santos has struggled to a 6.65 ERA in 21.2 innings this season at the Triple-A level, but the Pirates need a fresh bullpen arm with Colin Holderman (wrist) landing on the 15-day injured list.

  • Pirates' Colin Holderman: Placed on 15-day IL

Pittsburgh placed Holderman on the 15-day injured list Thursday with right wrist inflammation.

Yerry De Los Santos is getting the call to fill the vacated spot in the Pirates' bullpen. There's no official timetable yet on Holderman, who has posted a 4.01 ERA and 28:7 K:BB through 24.2 innings this season.

  • Mets' Stephen Ridings: Activated, optioned to Triple-A

The Mets activated Ridings (lat) from the 60-day injured list Thursday and optioned him to Triple-A Syracuse, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Ridings has been on the injured list all season recovering from a lat strain as well as the shoulder problems that he endured last year. He surrendered one run over three innings during his rehab assignment with Single-A St. Lucie and will now return to Triple-A, where he holds a 2.45 ERA and 1.00 WHIP across 11 innings in his career.

  • Ben Heller RP | CHC

Braves' Ben Heller: Recalled from Triple-A

Atlanta recalled Heller from Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday.

The 31-year-old right-hander will fill the bullpen spot left vacant by Jesse Chavez, who has been placed on the 15-day injured list with a severe shin contusion. Heller was recently acquired from the Rays in exchange for international bonus pool. He hasn't appeared in a major-league game since 2020.

  • Jesse Chavez RP | ATL

Braves' Jesse Chavez: Placed on 15-day IL

Atlanta placed Chavez on the 15-day injured list Thursday with a left shin contusion.

X-rays turned up clean for any structural damage after Chavez got struck by a hard-hit comebacker during a relief appearance Wednesday versus the Tigers, but he woke up Thursday in considerable discomfort and will be rested until at least the final day of June. The veteran reliever leaves behind a sharp 1.55 ERA and 36:9 K:BB through 29 innings.

  • John Brebbia RP | COL

Giants' John Brebbia: Working as opener again Friday

Brebbia will serve as the Giants' opening pitcher Friday versus the Dodgers, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Brebbia is basically now part of the Giants' rotation -- his last three appearances have been starts -- but he'll likely again pitch only an inning or two before giving way to a parade of other relievers. The 33-year-old righty carries a strong 3.25 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 35:9 K:BB in 27.2 innings (28 appearances) for the season.

  • Joe Jimenez RP | ATL

Braves' Joe Jimenez: Secures fourth hold

Jimenez struck out one over 1.2 perfect innings of relief Wednesday to record his fourth hold of the season in the second game of a doubleheader against the Tigers.

Facing his former club, the right-hander was dialed in as he protected a 6-5 lead, but despite throwing just 13 pitches (11 strikes) he was replaced by A.J. Minter for the final out of the game and missed out on what would have been his first save of the year. Jimenez was acquired in the offseason from Detroit to bolster Atlanta's high-leverage crew, but he fell out of favor after giving up runs in six of his first nine appearances in May. The 28-year-old appears to be turning things around, however -- he hasn't allowed an earned run in six straight outings with a 7:2 K:BB in 6.2 innings, collecting holds in two of his last three trips to the mound.

  • Collin McHugh RP | ATL

Braves' Collin McHugh: Perfect in third win

McHugh (3-0) picked up the win in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Tigers, striking out four batters over three perfect innings of relief.

Getting the call in the fifth inning with the score tied 5-5, McHugh completely shut down Detroit's offense over 44 pitches (29 strikes) before handing things off to Atlanta's late-inning crew, and the veteran right-hander was rewarded when his team took the lead in the sixth. It's the fourth time this season McHugh has worked two innings or more but the first time he's thrown more than 40 pitches since May 14, and the 35-year-old got four days of rest after that performance. Expect Michael Tonkin to handle any long-relief duties that might arise for Atlanta over the next few days. McHugh's 2.79 ERA through 29 innings on the season is solid, but it comes with a 1.55 WHIP and 19:10 K:BB.

  • Dominic Leone RP | CHW

Mets' Dominic Leone: Collects win Wednesday

Leone (1-2) picked up the win in Wednesday's victory over the Yankees, walking one and striking out one in a scoreless 10th inning.

The right-hander needed 11 pitches (eight strikes) to get through the top of the frame, with his free pass being of the intentional variety. Leone has settled into a middle-relief role with the Mets, getting scored upon only once in his last eight appearances and posting a 1.93 ERA, 0.64 WHIP and 10:2 K:BB through 9.1 innings over that stretch, but his lack of high-leverage usage limits his fantasy appeal -- he has zero saves or holds on the season.
