Kay was optioned to Triple-A Iowa on Friday, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports.

Kay came up from the minors Tuesday as Jose Cuas went on the bereavement list, and he'll head back to Iowa following Cuas' return. Kay holds a 6.35 ERA and 1.76 WHIP through 11.1 frames in the majors and hasn't appeared in a game since Aug. 1.

The Cubs reinstated Cuas from the bereavement list ahead of his start Friday in the second game of a doubleheader against Cincinnati, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports.

After three games away from the team, Cuas will return to the Cubs' roster. The 29-year-old righty holds a 3.69 ERA through 53.2 innings this season and will likely only remain on the mound for an inning or two as Chicago rolls with a bullpen game. Anthony Kay was optioned to Triple-A Iowa in a corresponding move.

Winn was recalled Friday from Triple-A Sacramento, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Winn returns to the Giants as an extra bullpen arm with rosters expanding from 26 to 28. The 25-year-old right-hander has posted a 4.09 ERA and 14:5 K:BB through his first 22 major-league innings this season.

Santillan cleared waivers Friday and was sent outright to Triple-A Louisville, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Santillan gave up one run over 3.1 innings in three appearances with the Reds, but a 9.26 ERA and 2.12 WHIP in Triple-A was enough to discourage interest from other teams. He will almost certainly remain in Louisville to finish the season.

The Reds reinstated Antone (elbow) from the 60-day injured list Friday, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Antone has thrown only five pitches in the majors since June 2021, undergoing Tommy John surgery that August, but he'll return to the Reds' bullpen in time for their playoff push. The 29-year-old righty made 12 rehab appearances with Triple-A Louisville, putting up a 3.00 ERA and 1.42 WHIP across 12 innings with an 11:5 K:BB. He could potentially work his way into high-leverage situations down the line, but Cincinnati likely won't push him too hard given his lengthy absence.

The Reds added Spiers to their active roster from Double-A Chattanooga on Friday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Spiers will act as a replacement for Fernando Cruz, who was placed on the COVID-19 IL on Friday. Spiers has spent all season in Double-A and holds a 3.69 ERA and 1.35 WHIP across 83 innings. He will be making his major-league debut whenever he gets into a game.

The Reds placed Cruz on the COVID-19 injured list Friday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Cruz will join Hunter Greene and Ben Lively on the COVID-19 IL, and he'll be forced to miss at least one week. Carson Spiers was brought up from Double-A Chattanooga as Cruz's replacement.

The Rockies reinstated Kinley (elbow) from the 15-day injured list Friday, Kelsey Wingert-Linch of AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain reports.

Kinley spent over a year on the injured list to begin the season while rehabbing from flexor tendon surgery, but he ended up back on the IL on Aug. 20 with inflammation in the same elbow. Now that he's healthy again, he'll rejoin the Rockies' bullpen and look to improve upon his less-than-stellar 9.53 ERA and 2.12 WHIP.

The Marlins recalled Hartlieb from Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Hartlieb gave up one run in one inning during his lone MLB appearance this season, but a 3.29 ERA and 1.26 WHIP with Jacksonville will earn him a promotion as rosters expand. The 29-year-old righty will likely be limited to low-leverage outings while with Miami.

The Cardinals reinstated Helsley (forearm) from the 60-day injured list Friday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Helsley landed on the injured list in mid-June with a right forearm strain. Given that he has been sidelined for nearly three months and performed poorly (4 ER over 4.1 IP) during his rehab assignment, the Cardinals will likely limit him to a lower-leverage role out of the gate. Brendan Donovan (elbow) was moved to the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move.
