Uribe walked one and struck out three in a scoreless ninth inning during Thursday's 4-0 victory over the Phillies.

With the Brewers in a non-save situation and looking to conserve their regular high-leverage relievers, manager Craig Counsell turned to Uribe and he delivered. The 23-year-old rookie is off to a strong start at the top level, allowing just one earned run over 4.1 innings while giving up three hits and posting a 7:1 K:BB.

Castro (5-4) was tagged with Thursday's loss to Atlanta. He allowed three runs on two hits and one walk over two-thirds of an inning.

Castro, who began the eighth inning protecting a 5-3 lead, sandwiched a pair of outs around a double before getting into trouble. He walked Ozzie Albies before Austin Riley took him deep for a three-run home run. Although Castro's 3.4 BB/9 is an improvement over previous seasons, it's still a high number and the right-hander walked a delicate line before Thursday's costly free pass. A one-time part of the closer picture, Castro has since returned to a middle-relief role, one in which he's had recent success. Castro entered the game with a 1.50 ERA over his previous 12 innings.

Iglesias picked up the save in Thursday's 7-5 win over Arizona. He allowed one hit and one walk over a scoreless inning.

Iglesias entered the game with a two-run lead in the top of the ninth and made things interesting by surrendering a walk to Emmanuel Rivera, followed by a single from Jake McCarthy. However, the right-hander needed only seven pitches to retire the next two hitters and get out of the jam, recording his 17th save of the season in the process. Iglesias has now converted each of his last eight save opportunities, with his last blown save coming back on June 12.

Assad pitched four scoreless innings of relief in Thursday's loss to the Cardinals. He allowed one hit and three walks, while striking out four.

With starter Marcus Stroman struggling and only lasting 3.2 innings, the Cubs needed some length from Assad. The righty delivered, lowering his season ERA to 3.80 in the process. He's been sharp lately, allowing just one earned run over his last five appearances (15 innings) to go along with 15 strikeouts. Assad made eight starts for Chicago last season and could rejoin the rotation at some point if he keeps pitching well, especially if Stroman gets traded before the deadline.

Lambert will be called up from Triple-A Albuquerque to start Friday at Miami, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.

Saunders adds that Connor Seabold has been demoted to the Rockies' bullpen. Lambert holds an ugly 6.29 ERA in 34.1 innings of work this season at the major-league level, but he pitched pretty well in his last two starts with Albuquerque, scattering three earned runs while tallying eight strikeouts across 8.1 frames.

Lawrence signed a minor-league contract with the Cardinals on Thursday.

After opting out of his deal with Toronto on Sunday, Lawrence will remain on a minor-league deal with the Cardinals. The 35-year-old righty hasn't been anything special in Triple-A this season, putting up a 4.67 ERA and 1.39 WHIP through 90.2 frames. Subpar minor-league stats and a poor MLB track record make it unlikely Lawrence sees the majors in 2023.

Castillo was designated for assignment Thursday.

With Robert Suarez (elbow) coming off the 60-day injured list, Castillo was deemed the odd man out. He gave up four runs while recording one out in his lone MLB appearance and has a 9.82 ERA over 18.1 frames in the minors.

Suarez (elbow) was activated from the 60-day injured list prior to Thursday's game in Toronto.

The 32-year-old righty gave up six earned runs in five innings with more walks (five) than strikeouts (four) during his rehab assignment. Suarez could eventually start working in a setup role, but he will probably be eased back in low-leverage situations.

Crowe (shoulder) was activated from the 60-day injured list and designated for assignment Thursday, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Crowe had a 1.59 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and six strikeouts in 5.2 innings during his rehab assignment. The 28-year-old righty is down from 95.3 mph on his fastball in 2022 to 94.0 mph this season, and he walked nine batters in 9.2 innings in the majors this year.

Ramirez was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis on Thursday, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Ramirez has given up two earned runs in three straight outings (six earned runs in 4.2 innings) dating back to July 7. A corresponding move is expected before Friday's game against the Angels.
