Hudson will start Wednesday's game against the Marlins, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Hudson has appeared in four games for the Cardinals this season, putting up a strong 1.80 ERA and 1.20 WHIP through 10 innings. Most recently, he pitched 3.1 scoreless frames and picked up the win Saturday against the Nationals, so he'll be taking the hill Wednesday on three days' rest. The 28-year-old righty will likely stay in the game for two or three innings before being relieved.

Kimbrel struck out one and didn't give up a hit or walk in a scoreless ninth inning to earn his 16th save of the season in Tuesday's win over the Brewers.

A pair of one-out errors allowed the tying run to reach second base, but Kimbrel delivered 10 of his 12 pitches for a strike to maintain the one-run advantage. The 35-year-old has converted all 16 of his save chances this year and has a 3.15 ERA and 60:16 K:BB across 40 innings, and he hasn't surrendered a run in his past 16 appearances.

The Giants optioned Beck to Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday.

Beck has been solid out of the bullpen for the Giants this season with a 3.06 ERA and 1.12 WHIP through 50 innings, but he'll return to the minors to clear a spot on the roster for Anthony DeSclafani (shoulder). As long as Beck keeps performing as well as he has been, there's a good chance he returns to San Francisco later this summer.

VerHagen (hip) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Springfield on Thursday, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

VerHagen landed on the injured list at the beginning of July with a right hip impingement after attempting to pitch through it for three weeks. It's unclear how long the Cardinals plan on keeping VerHagen in the minors, but it's likely he returns to the bullpen before the end of July.

Simpson (shoulder) began a rehab assignment July 9 at Single-A Jupiter and retired two hitters while allowing three earned runs on two hits and one walk. He struck out one batter.

Simpson was placed on Triple-A Jacksonville's 7-day injured list May 9 with a left shoulder impingement, but now that he's rehabbing in the lower levels in the minors, it likely won't be long before he's activated. In 11 innings with the Triple-A club this season, Simpson has posted a 6.55 ERA and 1.91 WHIP while striking out 16 hitters.

Arizona recalled Frias from Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.

This might be a brief stay in the majors for Frias as Andrew Chafin (paternity) spends a few days away from the club. Frias, 25, has allowed eight earned runs in 6.2 major-league innings this year with the Diamondbacks.

Arizona placed Chafin on the paternity list Tuesday.

Chafin will miss at least a portion of the Diamondbacks' three-game series in Atlanta as he welcomes a new addition to his growing family. Luis Frias has been called up from Triple-A Reno in a corresponding move.

Waites was recalled Tuesday from Triple-A Sacramento and placed on the 60-day injured list with a right elbow sprain.

The transaction is largely a procedural move to clear out a 40-man roster spot for Heliot Ramos (oblique), who was reinstated from the 60-day IL and optioned to Triple-A. Waites will likely be optioned back to Sacramento once he returns to full health.

Knehr (elbow) was transferred Tuesday from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.

The move frees up a 40-man roster spot for catcher Luis Campusano, who was activated from the 60-day injured list after recovering from May surgery to repair a torn thumb ligament. Knehr remains sidelined indefinitely with a right elbow strain and won't be eligible for activation until at least late August.

Milwaukee recalled Megill from Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday.

Megill will return to the Brewers' bullpen ahead of Tuesday's series opener against the Phillies. He carries a 4.91 ERA and 20:7 K:BB in 14.2 major-league innings this year.
