Hader gave up a hit and struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning Tuesday to record his 12th save of the season in a 7-4 win over the Nationals.

The southpaw picked up his first save since May 5, as he'd blown his last two chances, but hiccups have been rare for Hader in 2023. Through 20 innings, he sports a 0.90 ERA and 27:9 K:BB, and his 12 saves has him tied for third in the majors behind Emmanuel Clase's 16 and Camilo Doval's 13.

Covey didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Diamondbacks, allowing one run on five hits and a walk over five relief innings. He struck out six.

After Matt Strahm worked two innings as the opener and put the Phillies in a 2-1 hole, Covey entered the game and gave his team a chance to mount a comeback, tossing 55 of 91 pitches for strikes and exiting with the score tied 3-3. The right-hander has been solid in two appearances as a bulk reliever so far this season, although he doesn't yet have a decision to show for it. Covey will likely continue filling this role for the time being as the Phillies try to patch together the back of their rotation in the wake of Bailey Falter's demotion.

Castro tossed a perfect ninth inning Tuesday to record his fifth save of the season in a 4-3 win over the Phillies.

He didn't walk or strike out a batter, but Castro instead generated weak contact as he retired the Phillies' 6-7-8 hitters on only 11 pitches (seven strikes.) The right-hander has picked up three of the Diamondbacks' last four saves as the team tries to shift Andrew Chafin into a fireman role -- the lefty got the first two outs of the eighth inning while facing the likes of Trea Turner and Bryce Harper. On the season, Castro sports a 2.42 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 20:8 K:BB through 22.1 innings.

Helsley recorded his sixth save of the season in Tuesday's 8-5 win over the Reds, giving up one hit and two walks in a scoreless ninth inning. He struck out one.

The right-hander threw only 14 of 27 pitches for strikes and loaded the bases with two outs before getting Jonathan India to ground out and end the game. Helsley is suddenly fighting to find the strike zone, issuing four free passes in his last four appearances, but on the season he still has a 3.00 ERA and 28:10 K:BB through 21 innings.

Scott's option Tuesday to Triple-A Oklahoma City has been rescinded, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Scott was going to be the corresponding 26-man roster casualty for Bobby Miller's promotion, but Tyler Cyr (shoulder) will instead head to the 15-day IL as the corresponding move. Scott should be available out of the Dodgers' bullpen Tuesday night against Atlanta.

Cyr was placed on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with a right shoulder impingement, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Cyr had logged two scoreless relief appearances with the Dodgers since being selected to the MLB roster on Friday. It's unclear at this point how long he might be sidelined.

The Dodgers optioned Scott to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Bobby Miller will fill the vacant 26-man roster spot and make his MLB debut in a start Tuesday night against Atlanta. Scott did not get an appearance during his one-day stay with Los Angeles.

Cubs manager David Ross said Tuesday that imaging scans showed no structural damage in Boxberger's right arm, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

"I don't think it's going to be a super long thing or have to deal with surgery as of now," said Ross. Boxberger will be shut down from throwing for a bit, but he should be an option again for the Cubs' bullpen within the next month or so. He was placed on the injured list last week with what was originally called a right forearm strain.

Crawford (elbow/illness) reported Tuesday to Single-A San Jose, Evan Webeck of the San Jose Mercury News reports.

Crawford required Tommy John surgery in October 2021, while he was still in college, and then had to slow his rehab this spring after being diagnosed with mononucleosis. The 22-year-old is fully healthy now and ready to show that he can be a two-way player for the Giants. They mostly believe in his long-term promise as a pitcher, but it sounds like he is also going to get chances at first base and designated hitter as he makes his way through the lower minors.

Heuer (elbow) is on track for another rehab outing this week with Triple-A Iowa, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.

Heuer has struggled mightily on the farm so far, yielding seven earned runs on six hits and six walks through 4.2 innings. He's on the 60-day IL, so the Cubs can slow play the final steps of his recovery from Tommy John surgery until they see better results. There's no exact timetable for his activation.
