Bruihl will be recalled by the Dodgers before Thursday's series opener in St. Louis, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Dustin May is headed to the injured list in a corresponding move after suffering a flexor strain Wednesday afternoon against the Twins. Bruihl has posted a strong 2.53 ERA and 12:1 K:BB in 10.2 major-league innings this year and will fill a middle-relief role as the Dodgers plot out how to replace May in the rotation.

Rockies manager Bud Black confirmed Wednesday that Kauffmann will be called up to make his MLB debut Friday versus the Rangers, Suzie Hunter of TheDNVR.com reports.

Riley Pint has already been optioned out to open up a 26-man roster spot for Kauffmann, who will try to be a band-aid for the Rockies' injury-ravaged rotation. That's a big ask considering the 25-year-old has struggled to a 7.78 ERA, 1.78 WHIP and 26:12 K:BB in 37 innings (eight starts) this season with Triple-A Albuquerque. Friday's game is away from Coors Field, but Kauffmann is not a recommended fantasy streamer.

Colorado optioned Pint to Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday, Danielle Allentuck of The Denver Gazette reports.

Pint made his MLB debut in a relief appearance Wednesday afternoon against the Reds and allowed one run on one hit and three walks while recording only one out. Karl Kauffmann will take over the vacant roster spot and start Friday against the Rangers.

Milwaukee recalled Cousins from Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday.

Cousins will assume the 26-man active roster spot of Wade Miley (lat), who was placed on the 15-day injured list. Over three appearances out of the Milwaukee bullpen this season, Cousins has worked 4.2 innings while allowing an earned run on three hits and four walks while striking out four.

St. Louis transferred Naughton (forearm) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Wednesday.

Naughton resumed throwing earlier this month, but he still has a lot of hurdles to clear in his recovery from a left forearm strain. He originally landed on the IL on April 8 and now won't be eligible to rejoin the St. Louis bullpen until June 8.

St. Louis optioned Naile to Triple-A Memphis on Wednesday.

Naile threw 35 pitches over two innings of relief in the Cardinals' blowout win over the Brewers on Monday and wasn't going to be available for a bit. He carries a 4.15 ERA in 4.1 major-league innings this year.

Santillan's (back/knee/hamstring) recently scheduled live batting practice session was scratched due to left hamstring soreness, Bobby Nightengale of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Santillan had finally been making some progress as he works his way back from back, knee and hamstring problems, but now he's had another setback. His future status is uncertain.

Cruz (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville on Sunday, Bobby Nightengale of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Cruz could be activated as soon as May 26 for the start of the Reds' next road trip. He's been out since late April with a right shoulder strain.

The Dodgers transferred Nelson (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Wednesday.

Since Nelson has been on the shelf all season, he'll be eligible for activation as soon as May 29 after shifting to the 60-day IL, but he doesn't look as though he'll be ready to go by that date. After undergoing Tommy John surgery in August 2021, Nelson was eased along slowly in spring training before he was cleared to begin a minor-league rehab assignment in late April. However, Nelson made just one appearance in the minors before he was shut down from throwing after experiencing an apparent setback in his recovery from elbow surgery, per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. The Dodgers haven't provided an update regarding when Nelson might be ready to resume a throwing progression.

The Dodgers optioned Bruihl to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday.

Bruihl's demotion is a case of the Dodgers needing a fresh arm out of the bullpen after the right-hander had appeared in three straight games, including a two-inning outing Tuesday. Dylan Covey was called up from Triple-A to take Bruihl's spot in the bullpen.
