Gonzalez (elbow) has stopped his rehab assignment due to fatigue, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Gonzalez will be shut down for the season after experiencing arm fatigue during his way back from left elbow surgery. He'll now have the offseason to reset and should be ready to go for spring training, barring any major setbacks.

Vesia earned a hold against the Padres on Sunday with a perfect inning of work that included two strikeouts.

The contest became a rout late, but when Vesia entered in the sixth inning the Dodgers were ahead by only two runs. The southpaw kept things that way, throwing 13 of 15 pitches for strikes and notching a pair of punchouts. Vesia has been very impressive in his second campaign with Los Angeles, registering a 2.31 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 67:21 K:BB over 46.2 innings. He's notched 15 holds, one save and four wins.

The Mets placed Montes de Oca on the 15-day injured list Monday with left hamstring tightness.

A best-case scenario has the hard-throwing righty returning near the end of September. It appears unlikely Montes de Oca, with his 10.80 ERA in three appearances, makes the postseason roster, so it's possible he doesn't pitch again in 2022.

The Mets reinstated May (illness) from the COVID-19 injured list Monday.

As expected, May is off the injured list and will rejoin the Mets' bullpen. The right has a 3.86 ERA in 9.1 innings since returning from injury in early August, although he's looked good with 2.1 scoreless frames and five strikeouts across his last three appearances.

May (illness) said he expects to return from the COVID-19 injured list Monday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

May noted that he didn't experience any major symptoms since being deactivated Sept. 3, but he took longer than anticipated to clear the necessary protocols. Though the right-hander didn't head out on a minor-league rehab assignment, he should be ready to help out the New York bullpen right away since he was able to do some throwing on his own while isolating at home.

Rodriguez (neck) was used in relief in Friday's 6-3 loss to the Marlins, retiring one of the five batters he faced while allowing two earned runs on two hits and two walks.

Though he wasn't sharp Friday, Rodriguez at least appears to have moved past the stiff neck that kept him unavailable for a few games early last week. Rodriguez takes a 5.31 ERA and 1.60 WHIP for the season into Monday's series opener with the Cubs.

The Marlins optioned Nardi to Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Nardi will cede his spot in the Miami bullpen to Aneurys Zabala, whose contract was selected from Triple-A in advance of Monday's doubleheader with the Rangers. The demotion comes after Nardi yielded 11 runs (10 earned) on 12 hits and four walks in five innings over his most recent four relief appearances.

The Marlins recalled Hoeing from Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

He's being designated as the Marlins' 29th man for Monday's doubleheader with the Rangers, meaning he'll be returned to Triple-A immediately after the twin bill concludes. Hoeing has previously made two appearances (one start) for Miami this season, giving up eight earned runs on 10 hits and one walk over five innings. He'll serve as a long-relief option for the doubleheader.

Abbott is scheduled to start Tuesday's game against the Orioles in Washington.

Abbott made his most recent appearance for the Nationals as a reliever Saturday in Philadelphia, but since he tossed just one inning (eight pitches), the outing essentially mimicked a between-starts bullpen session. The right-hander previously started Sept. 7 in St. Louis, striking out five in a no-decision while allowing one earned run on five hits and no walks. Assuming he acquits himself well again Tuesday, Abbott should be able to maintain a regular spot in the Nationals' six-man rotation.

Littell (3-3) earned the win Sunday over the Cubs, allowed two hits and striking out two over 1.2 scoreless innings without walking a batter.

Littell was in the game when Thairo Estrada's solo home run in the seventh inning put the Giants ahead. Through five outings in September, Littell's allowed four runs in five innings, though those all came in one outing against the Dodgers on Wednesday. The right-hander has posted a 4.74 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 39:12 K:BB through 43.2 innings overall in a low-leverage role.
