Hill landed on the 10-day injured list Saturday due to shoulder inflammation, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Hill has struggled to start the season, striking out just one batter in 5.2 innings while giving up seven runs on 11 hits. He'll now miss potentially an extended period, though the team hasn't specified exactly when he's expected back. Ray Kerr was recalled to give the Padres another lefty in the bullpen in Hill's absence.

Howard was designated for assignment by the Pirates on Saturday.

Howard had already lost his spot on the active roster when rosters shrunk to 26 players Monday. He'll now lose his spot on the 40-man as well as the Pirates clear space to select Michael Perez's contract.

Cousins' elbow injury is a concerning one and may involve issues with his UCL, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Cousins has been on the injured list for six days with what was originally called a right elbow effusion. Any mention of the UCL implies that Tommy John surgery could be on the table. The Brewers expect to know more about the problem next week.

Frias was optioned to Triple-A Reno on Friday.

Frias' stay on the big-league roster lasted just over a week. He made two relief appearances, giving up five runs in 2.1 innings while striking out two and walking four. He'll return to the minors as J.B. Wendelken returns from the COVID-19 injured list.

Hjelle was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Saturday.

Hjelle was recalled by the Giants on Friday, and he struck out one in a scoreless inning during the team's loss to St. Louis. However, he'll head back to the minors after Dominic Leone (illness) was reinstated from the COVID-19 injured list Saturday.

Moreta will serve as the opener in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Pirates, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Robert Dugger was initially listed as the starter for Saturday's nightcap, but the Reds will instead elect to use Moreta as an opener. Over his first 12 relief appearances this season, Moreta has posted a 5.11 ERA and 1.05 WHIP in 12.1 innings.

Leone (illness) was reinstated from the COVID-19 injured list Saturday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Leone tested positive for COVID-19 in late April and spent just over a week away from the team. However, he'll be available out of the bullpen for Saturday's matchup against the Cardinals. The right-hander has recorded a save and two holds with a 2.57 ERA and 1.57 WHIP in seven innings over his first nine relief appearances in 2022.

Brebbia pitched a perfect inning and struck out two in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Cardinals.

Brebbia has yielded runs in just two of his 11 appearances this season, serving mainly in a middle-relief role. The 31-year-old right-hander has a 1.50 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and 11:3 K:BB across 12 innings. He's added one hold, though he could see more high-leverage work if other members of the Giants' bullpen continue to struggle. Brebbia is still not expected to be in line for many save chances.

Jackson is being considered to serve as a sixth starter for the Dodgers, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

The Dodgers are contemplating using a six-man rotation in May since the team plays 31 games in 30 days, and Jackson is one of several candidates to fill a starting role. The right-hander has made four starts at Triple-A Oklahoma City this year and has posted a 3.65 ERA and 1.49 WHIP in 12.1 innings.

Estevez (1-1) allowed three earned runs on three hits with one strikeout over one-third of an inning to take the loss Friday against the Diamondbacks.

Estevez entered the game in the eighth inning with the game tied at one, but he served up two home runs in the span of four batters to take the loss. He has held opponents scoreless in seven of 10 appearances this season to go along with two holds. Estevez does have a bloated ERA with a current mark of 5.87, though that is heavily skewed by his blowup Friday.
