Hicks is scheduled to make his first start of the season Saturday against the Brewers in Milwaukee, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Hicks had been on track to start Tuesday's game against the Royals, but the postponement of Monday's contest against the Pirates due to inclement weather in St. Louis prompted the Cardinals to reshuffle their pitching schedule. While previous reports suggested that Hicks would start Sunday's series finale in Milwaukee, he'll instead take the hill Saturday so the Cardinals won't have to add a temporary sixth starter to the mix. Dakota Hudson will stay on turn to start Sunday, assuming his he escapes his first start Tuesday unscathed. Hicks will be available out of the bullpen for that game, but he likely won't be in store for an extended appearance while he preps for his start later in the week. Manager Oliver Marmol suggested that Hicks will be capped at around 45 pitches in that start, and the Cardinals aren't preparing for him to cover more than four innings in any outing until May.

Tarnok will make his season debut for Double-A Mississippi on Wednesday against Biloxi.

This is essentially just reassurance that Tarnok is healthy, despite the fact he has not pitched yet since being optioned to the minors. It was originally reported that Tarnok was sent to Triple-A, but he was reassigned to Double-A last week. He has a very high ceiling, particularly if he can improve his third-pitch changeup.

Thompson was hit with a three-game suspension Monday for intentionally throwing at Andrew McCutchen on Saturday, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.

The incident cleared the benches and resulted in Thompson's ejection. He'll now be ineligible to pitch before Friday's game against the Rockies.

Martin gave up three runs (one earned) on two hits and two walks while striking out five in four innings of relief Sunday against the Padres.

Caleb Smith gave up five runs (four earned) in just one inning, so Martin came in behind him to log bulk innings. The Diamondbacks opted to open the year with Martin in the bullpen, but he is relatively stretched out, so he could be used as a spot starter when needed.

Rogers is expected to be available for Monday's game against the Padres before going on the paternity list Tuesday, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Rogers is a part of San Francisco's high-leverage mix this year with a hold in each of his first two appearances, and he should be available to pitch Monday before stepping away from the team for a few days. Jake McGee and Camilo Doval already have a loss and blown save, respectively, this year, so Rogers could receive some save chances if he continues to be the most effective of the bunch.

Szapucki (elbow) gave up two runs on four hits and no walks while striking out four over three innings in his season debut last Tuesday for Triple-A Syracuse.

Szapucki was shut down in July of last season after undergoing ulnar transposition surgery in his left elbow, but he received a clean bill of health heading into spring training. The 25-year-old lefty retains a spot on the Mets' 40-man roster, but he likely doesn't rank high on the list for a potential promotion into the big-league rotation.

Yamamoto cleared waivers Monday and was outrighted to Triple-A Syracuse, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Yamamoto owns a carer 6.05 ERA in 96.2 major-league innings, so it's no surprise to see him go unclaimed on waivers. He'll remain in an organizational depth role in the minors for now.

Adams (1-0) was credited with the win over Arizona on Sunday, pitching a scoreless inning during which he walked three and struck out one.

Blake Snell was expected to start Sunday's contest, but he was scratched just before the start of the game due to a groin injury, forcing the Padres to turn to a bevy of relievers to cover nine innings. The team got off to a quick five-run lead, and Adams was the fortunate reliever credited with the win as the second bullpen arm to enter the contest. The righty was far from flawless, however, as he threw only 10 of 24 pitches for strikes and walked three before getting out of his lone frame. Adams' control issues are well documented -- he incredibly set a live-ball era single-season record with 24 HBPs last season while also posting a 6.0 BB/9, yet he managed to record a respectable 4.10 ERA and notch 10 holds. He has the stuff to become an elite reliever, but the control issues remain a major obstacle.

According to Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat, the Cardinals plan to cap Hicks at around 45 pitches in his first start, and the right-hander is expected to be built up slowly from there. Manager Oliver Marmol suggested Monday that the Cardinals will be content if Hicks is able to reach four innings in his starts by the beginning of May, so the 25-year-old could struggle to work deep enough in his initial starts to factor into a decision.

The Cardinals will push Hudson back one day in the pitching schedule and have him start Tuesday against the Royals after Monday's series finale with the Pirates was postponed due to inclement weather in St. Louis, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

As a result of the rainout, the Cardinals will move No. 5 starter Jordan Hicks to the back of the pitching order, while the other three members of the rotation minus Hudson remain in line to start on the previously scheduled days. Despite the postponement, Hudson still appears on track for a two-start week, unless the Cardinals' decide to add a temporary sixth starter to the mix. Following Tuesday's outing, Hudson would pick up his second start of the season Sunday in Milwaukee.
