Szapucki was recalled by the Mets to serve as the 27th man in Game 2 of Thursday's doubleheader against the Rockies, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Szapucki began the 2021 campaign with Triple-A Syracuse and has recorded a 2.77 ERA and 1.38 WHIP in 13 innings across three appearances (two starts). He'll be available to make his major-league debut out of the bullpen during Thursday's nightcap but will likely head back to the minors following the twin bill.

Rainey was reinstated from the COVID-19 injured list Thursday, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.

Rainey felt good after throwing an extended bullpen session Wednesday, and he'll be available for Thursday's matchup against Cincinnati. The right-hander posted a 7.30 ERA and 1.95 WHIP in 12.1 innings across 16 relief appearances to begin the year.

Perez was recalled by the Reds on Thursday.

Perez has spent two separate stints with the Reds so far this year, posting a 7.71 ERA and a 12:14 K:BB in 14 innings of work. He'll likely be limited to low-leverage work during his time with the team. Jeff Hoffman (shoulder) landed on the injured list in a corresponding move.

Hoffman (shoulder) was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday.

Hoffman left his start Wednesday against the Nationals with right shoulder soreness, and the issue is evidently serious enough to cause him to miss at least one start. His expected return date is not yet clear. The righty is pitcher better than usual this season after finally escaping Coors Field, but his 4.61 ERA and 1.59 WHIP are still not particularly impressive. Cionel Perez was called up in a corresponding move.

Gilbreath was recalled by the Rockies as the 27th man for Thursday's doubleheader against the Mets, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

Gilbreath was sent down after Monday's game against the Mets, but he'll return to the major-league bullpen several days later. He should provide depth as a reliever but will likely return to the minors after Thursday's twin bill.

Megill (forearm) retired one of the three batters he faced during a rehab outing with Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday. He gave up an earned run on two walks during the 18-pitch appearance.

Megill showed shaky control in his first rehab outing with Iowa, pumping in only eight of his pitches for strikes. The 27-year-old has been on the shelf since late April with a strained right forearm, so he'll presumably need at least one or two more tune-up outings in the minors before the Cubs activate him.

Crowe (0-3) was tagged with the loss Wednesday against the Cubs after giving up three runs on five hits and two walks while fanning one across 1.1 innings.

Crowe remains winless this season and delivered his worst start of the campaign, failing to get out of the second inning while giving up more walks than strikeouts. He has struggled to the tune of a 6.04 ERA with a 1.61 WHIP across 22.1 innings in five starts this month, and his next outing is scheduled for next Monday against the Royals on the road.

Rogers earned the save against Arizona on Wednesday by pitching a scoreless ninth inning. He allowed three hits and struck out one.

Rogers walked a high wire in the ninth frame, allowing singles to three of the first four batters he faced before striking out Ketel Marte and retiring Eduardo Escobar on a groundout. The right-hander now has six saves on the campaign, and he appears to be in a true tandem closer role with Jake McGee (11 saves). Rogers has the overall better numbers, registering a minuscule 0.68 ERA and 0.90 WHIP on the season. He hasn't yet posted the strikeout numbers of a typical closer, however, fanning only 14 batters across 26.2 frames.

Coonrod (0-1) allowed three runs on three hits and a walk in one inning in Wednesday's loss to Miami.

The right-hander melted down in the eighth inning, allowing a two-run single to Jon Berti and an RBI single to Jose Devers to waste a good start from Aaron Nola. Coonrod has faltered with five runs allowed in his last three appearances after a strong start to the year. The 28-year-old has amassed two saves, three blown saves and six holds while pitching to a 2.86 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 23:4 K:BB in 22 innings (20 appearances). The runs he allowed Wednesday were the first he's given up this season that didn't come via home runs.

Garcia pitched a scoreless ninth inning, hit a batter and struck out two to earn the save in Wednesday's 4-2 win over Philadelphia.

The right-hander put Roman Quinn aboard with a hit-by-pitch, but Garcia struck out Matt Joyce and Andrew McCutchen before Jean Segura grounded out to end the game. Garcia is now 9-for-10 in save chances this year. He's pitched to a 1.31 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 21:4 K:BB across 20.2 innings as Miami's primary closer for much of the season.
