  • Nick Pivetta RP | SD

Padres' Nick Pivetta: Plays catch Sunday

Pivetta (forearm) played catch at PetCo Park on Sunday, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Pivetta is in a holding pattern in terms of resuming a rehab stint, but he's still been able to do some throwing. The right-hander exited a rehab start -- his first since landing on the injured list April 14 due to a right flexor strain -- with Triple-A El Paso on Aug. 4 after throwing just 14 pitches, though he did get in some more throws in the bullpen afterward. According to Cassavell, the Padres have "tentative plans" for Pivetta to throw a bullpen session but haven't revealed a date for that to take place.

  • William Dion RP | WAS

Nationals' Will Dion: Collects first MLB win

Dion (1-0) picked up the win Sunday over the Reds, allowing one hit and striking out one in three scoreless relief innings.

Brad Lord got the start in a bullpen day for the Nationals and worked the first 2.2 innings before handing a 2-1 lead off to Dion, who shut Cincinnati down over 41 pitches (30 strikes) to earn his first big-league win. Acquired from the Guardians in the Foster Griffin deal, Dion has had a promising adjustment to a full-time relief role in 2026, posting a 52:7 K:BB over 37.1 Triple-A innings and delivering a 3.86 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 26:4 K:BB in his first 14 appearances and 23.1 innings at the top level.

  • Tyler Kinley RP | ATL

Braves' Tyler Kinley: Collects first save of season

Kinley struck out one in a perfect 10th inning Sunday to record his first save of the season in a win over the Yankees.

Didier Fuentes worked the eighth inning and allowed the tying run while closer Raisel Iglesias handled the ninth, leaving manager Walt Weiss to turn to Kinley after Atlanta plated a run in the top of the 10th. The right-hander got the job done, fanning former Rockies teammate Ryan McMahon to end the game. It was Kinley's 22nd career save, but his first in an Atlanta uniform since being acquired at the 2025 trade deadline. Through 41 innings over 47 appearances this season, he's produced a 3.95 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 40:18 K:BB while picking up six wins and 12 holds.

  • Riley O'Brien RP | STL

Cardinals' Riley O'Brien: Cruises to 29th save

O'Brien recorded his 29th save Sunday against the Rockies, tossing a perfect ninth inning.

O'Brien was called upon to protect a three-run lead in the ninth inning and made quick work of Colorado, retiring the side in order on just eight pitches. The right-hander has now delivered seven consecutive scoreless appearances while allowing only one hit during that stretch. Across 48 appearances this season, O'Brien owns a 3-4 record and 29 saves with a 3.21 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 48:29 K:BB over 47.2 innings.

  • Giants' Blade Tidwell: Handed another start

Tidwell is slated to start Monday's game against the Astros in San Francisco.

After dealing away Tyler Mahle and Robbie Ray last week, the Giants had two openings in the rotation, and Tidwell was summoned from Triple-A Sacramento to fill one of those spots. The 25-year-old right-hander acquitted himself well in his first start as a member of the Giants last Tuesday, taking a no-decision on the road against the Rangers while allowing two earned runs on six hits and one walk across five innings. Tidwell will be awarded a second turn through the rotation and will tentatively line up for two starts during the upcoming week, with a home start against the Rockies likely on tap next Sunday.

  • Drey Jameson RP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Drey Jameson: Close to rehab assignment

Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Sunday that Jameson (hip) is expected to begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Reno during the upcoming week, Alex D'Agostino of SI.com reports.

Per Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com, Jameson threw 32 pitches over two innings in an unofficial game at extended spring training Saturday. Assuming Jameson bounces back well from that outing, he'll report to Reno in the coming days and will likely make at least a couple appearances before returning from the injured list. Jameson posted a 4.67 ERA and 1.44 WHIP in 17.1 innings out of the Arizona bullpen before landing on the IL on July 21 due to right hip inflammation.

  • Braves' Raisel Iglesias: Earns first win

Iglesias (1-2) earned the win in Sunday's extra-inning win over the Yankees, striking out two in a perfect ninth inning.

Iglesias shut down the heart of the Yankees' order in the bottom of the ninth inning before Atlanta took the win in the 10th. It was a clutch effort after the veteran closer allowed two earned runs in back-to-back outings, including a blown save Friday. On the season, he's 24-for-27 in save chances with a 2.95 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 48:12 K:BB across 42.2 innings.

  • Kevin Ginkel RP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Kevin Ginkel: Bags first save

Ginkel struck out two in a perfect inning to earn the save in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Dodgers.

Ginkel has allowed five runs (four earned) over 5.2 innings since Arizona's closer committee emerged. He has a save, a blown save, a hold and a win in that span. There's still no favorite for saves currently -- Brandyn Garcia has picked up two of them to Ginkel's one, while Jonathan Loaisiga and Juan Morillo have served more in setup roles since Paul Sewald was removed from the closer role. For the year, Ginkel has a 3.60 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 47:15 K:BB through 50 innings while adding 11 holds.

  • Sean Manaea RP | NYM

Mets' Sean Manaea: Dominant vs. Pittsburgh

Manaea (4-5) earned the win Sunday over the Pirates, allowing a run on three hits and no walks over seven innings. He struck out 11.

A Jake Mangum homer in the third inning accounted for the only run Manaea allowed Sunday, as the left-hander turned in his best start of the year, setting a season high with 11 strikeouts. Manaea has turned in four straight quality starts, allowing just six runs over 25 innings in that span. He's lowered his ERA to 4.13 on the season with a 1.32 WHIP and 106:35 K:BB across 104.2 innings. Manaea is tentatively slated to face the Nationals at home his next time out.

  • Will Klein RP | LAD

Dodgers' Will Klein: Dealing with bone chips

Klein underwent an MRI that revealed bone chips in his elbow, and the Dodgers are now deciding the next steps for his recovery, with surgery being an option, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

The right-hander landed on the injured list Aug. 1 after surrendering 13 runs (eight earned) over his six previous outings, and his availability for the rest of the season could hang in the balance. If Klein needs to undergo surgery, he'll probably miss the rest of the campaign, so the Dodgers will likely be exploring all recovery options over the next few days.
