Hernandez surrendered three runs on four hits and zero walks across five innings during Tuesday's loss to the Brewers. He struck out five and did not factor in the decision.

The 24-year-old managed to garner 11 swinging strikes but still gave up hard contact Tuesday, including a two-run homer from Hernan Perez. Hernandez has a 5.24 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 76:25 K:BB through 77.1 innings and lines up to pitch Sunday at San Francisco.

Pomeranz had two strikeouts and allowed two hits and zero walks in a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save Tuesday in Miami.

Pomeranz recorded the fourth save of his career -- and first since 2015 -- as he managed to hold off the Marlins. Regular closer Josh Hader had the night off after a busy weekend, providing the opportunity for Pomeranz. The 30-year-old has a 3.06 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, 27:8 K:BB and seven holds over 17.2 innings since joining the Brewers at the trade deadline.

Estevez was removed from Tuesday's game against the Cardinals with back spasms, Kyle Newman of The Denver Post reports.

Estevez needed only nine pitches to record the final two outs of the eighth inning and would have returned for the final frame -- and the save opportunity -- were it not for the back spasms. It's unclear if the 26-year-old is expected to be available for Wednesday's contest.

Neris didn't allow a baserunner and struck out one in the ninth inning to earn the save Tuesday against the Braves.

Neris was called upon to protect a one-run lead in the ninth inning and needed only nine pitches to do the job. He now has 25 saves on the campaign, though it's only his second since Aug. 22. Still, he's pitched effectively when called upon, maintaining a 2.90 ERA and 1.02 WHIP with 81 strikeouts across 62 innings for the season.

Kimbrel (elbow) is progressing but won't be activated from the 10-day injured list when first eligible Thursday, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.

Kimbrel said last week he expected to spend the minimum 10 days on the shelf, but it looks like he'll require at least an extra day of rehab time. The 31-year-old threw off flat ground Sunday, but it's unclear if he's resumed mound work. Kimbrel could still rejoin the Cubs this weekend.

Smith (back) remains unavailable to pitch Tuesday, Kerry Crowley of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Smith hasn't taken the mound since allowing one run while recording his 32nd save Friday. It's unclear how long the left-hander is expected to remain sidelined as a result of the back inflammation. The Giants are currently without their top relievers with Tony Watson (wrist) likely done for the season and Reyes Moronta (shoulder) on the 60-day injured list.

Jerez was designated for assignment by the Giants on Tuesday.

Jerez was sent back to Triple-A Sacramento in mid-August after posting a 2.70 ERA and 1.95 WHIP with four strikeouts over 6.2 innings this season in the majors. He'll head to waivers after losing his spot on the 40-man roster. Johnny Cueto (elbow) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move.

Yamamoto (forearm) has just a slight chance to return to the Marlins this season, Andre Fernandez of The Athletic reports.

Yamamoto has been dealing with a forearm strain since the end of August. Previous reports cast his return in a more favorable light, with the expectation being that he'd make a start in the instructional league before being activated from the 10-day injured list, but president of baseball operations Michael Hill seemed to be more pessimistic Tuesday.

Dominguez (elbow) will throw from 90 feet Wednesday, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Dominguez has been out with an elbow injury since early June, though he avoided Tommy John surgery. His chances of returning are considered slim, though he does have a bullpen session scheduled for Sept. 20, leaving open the possibility that he could be back for the season's final few games.

Williams was recalled from Double-A Biloxi on Tuesday.

Williams threw nine innings for the Brewers in August, posting a respectable 4.00 ERA but a poor 2.11 WHIP. He'll be a lower-leverage bullpen option down the stretch.
