Pittsburgh has announced that Burdi left Monday's game against Arizona due to right elbow and biceps pain, Bill Brink of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

This isn't a great initial sign for Burdi, who has logged just 21 total innings since undergoing Tommy John surgery in June of 2017. He'll have to undergo further testing before the full extent of his injury is uncovered.

Burdi left Monday's game against the Diamondbacks due to an apparent arm injury, John Perrotto of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.

Burdi went down in a heap immediately after throwing a pitch, and he was holding his right biceps in obvious pain. Although this looked to be a significant injury for Burdi, who underwent Tommy John surgery in 2017, the severity of the issue is not yet known.

Arano will visit with team doctors within the next two days for further tests on his inflamed elbow, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

It's unclear whether Arano has suffered a setback. The situation should become clearer once the results of the tests are made public.

Sewald was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse on Monday.

Sewald allowed two runs and struck out one over five innings since his promotion to the big leagues April 14, but he'll head back to Syracuse, where he'll likely see more opportunities. Todd Frazier was activated from the 10-day injured list and Luis Guillorme was recalled from Triple-A in corresponding moves.

Wilson was placed on the 10-day injured list with elbow soreness, Mike Mazzeo of Yahoo Sports reports.

Wilson had an MRI, which revealed no major issues, though it's not clear when he's expected to return. He'll make way on the 25-man roster for Todd Frazier (oblique), who was activated off the injured list in a corresponding move.

Adams was optioned to Triple-A Fresno on Monday, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.

Adams spent three days on the big-league roster, allowing one run in one inning in his lone appearance. Infielder Jake Noll was recalled in a corresponding move.

Hart was optioned to Triple-A San Antonio on Monday.

Hart spent three days on the big-league roster, throwing 2.1 scoreless innings across a pair of appearances but walking four batters while striking out none. He'll make room on the roster for Adrian Houser, who was called up ahead of his scheduled start against the Cardinals.

Ponce de Leon may be called on to make a spot start Tuesday against the Brewers, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Michael Wacha hit the injured list with a knee injury, so the Cardinals need a fill-in for at least one turn in the rotation. Ponce de Leon would be on schedule to start Tuesday and is on the 40-man roster, though the Cardinals have yet to confirm their plans.

Reyes worked his first game as a starter with Triple-A Memphis against Round Rock on Saturday, firing three scoreless innings in which he did not allow a hit. He issued one walk and recorded four strikeouts.

Reyes' first 2019 appearance in the Redbirds' rotation was a success overall, and his abbreviated stint actually fell in line with the team's preset goal of keeping him between 40 and 50 pitches. Reyes hit the low end of the range, with 25 of his offerings finding the strike zone. Perhaps most encouraging was his solid control, which will remain one of the most important points of emphasis for the developing right-hander during his time in Memphis. Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports that manager Mike Shildt confirmed Reyes averaged 97 mph on his fastball during the outing, making it all the more impressive.

Smith worked around a walk and a hit to earn his fifth save of the year during a 3-2 victory against the Pirates on Sunday.

The Giants closer really only earned two outs, but a relay from right field threw out Jung Ho Kang at the plate for the game's final out. With that play, Smith avoided his first blown save of the year. He is 5-for-5 in save opportunities with a 1.17 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and seven strikeouts in 7.2 innings.
