  • Trevor Megill RP | MIL

Brewers' Trevor Megill: Back on active roster

The Brewers reinstated Megill (paternity) from the restricted list Saturday.

After moving Megill to the restricted list to give him extra time with his expanding family, the Brewers will get their flame-throwing reliever back a day later. After a rough start to the season, Megill has posted a 1.69 ERA and 1.13 WHIP over 16 innings since Aug. 16, though the Brewers' immense bullpen depth has kept Megill from seeing many high-leverage opportunities. Clayton Andrews and Caleb Boushley were optioned to rookie ball in corresponding moves.

  • Luis Ortiz RP | NYM

Phillies' Luis Ortiz: Up from Triple-A

The Phillies recalled Ortiz from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Saturday.

As Dylan Covey (back) lands on the injured list for the final days of the regular season, Ortiz will come up from the minors to round out Philadelphia's bullpen. The 28-year-old righty holds a 3.50 ERA and 1.50 WHIP through 18 frames in the majors this season and figures to serve in middle relief while with the Phillies.

  • Dylan Covey RP | ATL

Phillies' Dylan Covey: Placed on injured list

The Phillies placed Covey on the 15-day injured list Saturday with lower back pain.

Covey served as a solid middle-relief option for Philadelphia this season and will finish the 2023 regular-season campaign with a 3.77 ERA and 1.51 WHIP through 43 innings across 29 appearances. Luis Ortiz was promoted from Triple-A Lehigh Valley in a corresponding move.

  • Yency Almonte RP | LAD

Dodgers' Yency Almonte: Sent on rehab assignment

Almonte (knee) was sent to Triple-A Oklahoma City on a rehab assignment Saturday.

Almonte has been out since he injured his right knee while pitching in Colorado on Aug. 11. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has said that the pitcher probably would not be ready until around the start of the NLCS. If the Dodgers get to that point, the 29-year-old will have gone over two months since the injury.

  • Tyler Kinley RP | ATL

Rockies' Tyler Kinley: Takes loss against Twins

Kinley (0-4) allowed one earned run on two hits while striking out one to take the loss Friday against the Twins.

Kinley entered the game in the ninth inning with the score knotted at 6-6. He allowed a pair of singles to begin the frame before ultimately allowing the game-winning run to score on a sacrifice fly. Despite maintaining an ugly 6.46 ERA and 1.70 WHIP across 15.1 innings this season, Kinley has earned three of Colorado's last four saves and is likely to be called upon if a save situation arises in the team's final two games.

  • Jordan Weems RP | LAD

Nationals' Jordan Weems: Notches fifth win

Weems (5-0) was credited with the win Friday, giving up one run on two hits and two walks over one inning of relief in the Nationals' 10-6 victory over Atlanta. He struck out one.

The 30-year-old right-hander got tagged for a run for the third time in his last four appearances as he experiences a late-season fade, but Weems was still able to vulture one more win. He's stumbled to a 5.06 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 10:10 K:BB through 10.2 innings in September, and he's far from guaranteed a key role in the Nationals' 2024 bullpen despite his 96 mph fastball and sharp slider.

  • Kevin Ginkel RP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Kevin Ginkel: Throws scoreless inning

Ginkel struck out one over one inning in Friday's 2-1 loss to Houston.

Ginkel made his first appearance since a blown save/loss Monday, when he told manager Torey Lovullo he was good to pitch after throwing 28 pitches the previous day. Following Monday's game, he admitted he wasn't "feeling great." Ginkel looked good Friday, setting the side down in order on nine pitches (seven strikes).

  • Keaton Winn SP | SF

Giants' Keaton Winn: Yields six runs in loss

Winn (1-3) took the loss Friday versus the Dodgers, allowing six runs on six hits and striking out five without walking a batter over 5.1 innings.

Winn was tagged for three home runs to account for all of the offense against him in his return from a nine-day stint on the COVID-19 injured list. Winn closes the season with a 4.68 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 35:8 K:BB over 42.1 innings across nine appearances (five starts) in his first big-league campaign. The 25-year-old righty will likely have a chance to compete for a rotation spot in spring training next year.

  • Josh Hader RP | HOU

Padres' Josh Hader: Earns 33rd save

Hader picked up the save in Friday's 3-2 victory over the White Sox. He allowed one run on one hit and one walk over one inning without recording a strikeout.

It was far from a clean outing for Hader, who allowed a solo homer to Carlos Perez to lead off the inning, then gave up a walk and hit a batter prior to inducing Yoan Moncada to ground into a game-ending double play. Friday's appearance marks only the sixth time in 60 appearances that Hader has allowed an earned run this season, leading to a 1.30 ERA, 1.12 ERA and 84 strikeouts over 55.1 innings.

  • Padres' Nick Martinez: Fans eight in win

Martinez (6-4) earned the win Friday, allowing two hits and two walks over five scoreless innings against the White Sox. He struck out eight.

It was his longest outing since April 19, and the right-hander retired 11 straight batters at one point to help keep the White Sox at bay. The versatile Martinez contributed 110.1 quality innings for the Padres this season, starting nine of his 63 appearances while compiling six wins, 15 holds and one save with a 3.43 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 106 strikeouts.
