Akin will open Tuesday's game against the Brewers, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Akin has given up at least one run in three of six appearances so far this month, but he'll be tasked with handling the first inning or so of Tuesday's matchup before handing the ball to Chayce McDermott, who's set to serve as the primary pitcher.

Munoz struck out the only batter he faced and earned a save against the White Sox on Monday.

Munoz entered a 5-1 game with bases loaded and quickly shut things down by striking out Michael Taylor on four pitches. Munoz has yet to allow an earned run through 20.2 innings and has converted 15 of his 17 save opportunities. He improved his K:BB to 28:8 and has struck out at least one batter in 20 of his 21 appearances this season.

The Giants released Romero (personal) on May 9.

Romero was signed to a minor-league contract in January but remained away from the team due to personal reasons before ultimately being issued his release. His last appearance in the big leagues came back in 2018, as he had most recently pitched in Korea and Japan before signing with the Giants over the winter.

Hader threw a scoreless inning and earned a save against the Rays on Monday.

Hader had to deal with the speedy Chandler Simpson on base after he reached via catcher's interference to start the frame. Hader was able to retire the next three batters in order to close out the 4-3 victory. He's now converted each of his 12 save chances this season and lowered his ERA to 1.71 across 21 innings. Monday was Hader's first appearance without recording a strikeout since April 19.

Palencia (0-1) blew the save and took the loss in Monday's game at Miami. He allowed two runs on two hits and a walk in two-thirds of an inning with one strikeout.

Palencia was called upon for his first save opportunity of the season with a 7-6 lead in the ninth as Porter Hodge (oblique) was unavailable. After collecting the first two outs, Palencia fell apart, consecutively conceding a double, a walk and a walk-off triple. The Chicago right-hander had been a steady reliever prior to this performance, pitching to a 1.20 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 15:6 K:BB across 15 innings. If Hodge is bound for a lengthy absence, Palencia will likely remain in the mix for saves along with Drew Pomeranz and Ryan Pressly.

Hodge has suffered a left oblique injury and will be placed on the 15-day injured list, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Hodge last pitched Saturday against the White Sox, tossing a scoreless frame in the victory, but he evidently picked up the oblique injury at some point along the way. The club will need to rely on another arm in save opportunities while Hodge recovers, likely leaving Ryan Pressly as the team's top option moving forward.

Coleman was released by the Orioles on Friday.

Coleman will hit free agency after posting a 4.91 ERA with 14 strikeouts and 14 walks over 11 appearances (14.2 innings) during stints with Triple-A Norfolk and Double-A Chesapeake. He last appeared in the big leagues during the 2024 season with Houston, tossing a scoreless frame in one outing.

Puk (elbow) has stretched his throwing program out to 60 feet, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Puk has been making slow progress in his recovery from left elbow inflammation, and he'll soon expand his throwing program to 90 feet. The left-hander isn't eligible to return from the 60-day injured list until July 1, so he still has plenty of time to ramp up his activity prior to then.

Long is expected to begin a rehab assignment with the Royals' Arizona Complex League team Tuesday.

Long has missed over a month of action while dealing with left elbow inflammation, but he's now set to return to the mound officially. The reliever struggled to a 12.86 ERA and 2.43 WHIP with six strikeouts over seven innings in seven appearances with Kansas City this year, and once healthy, he'll likely return to a low-leverage role in the bullpen.

Dreyer will serve as the opening pitcher in Monday's tilt versus the Diamondbacks, Sonja Chen of MLB.com reports.

Dreyer has thrown as many as three innings in an appearance this season and went two frames his last time out versus the Angels, so he could offer more length than your typical opener. Landon Knack is slated to eat the bulk of the innings as the Dodgers' primary pitcher in the series opener.
