Mick Abel P | MIN
Twins' Mick Abel: Drawing start Saturday
Abel is scheduled to start Saturday in Philadelphia.
Abel made a four-inning relief appearance after being recalled from Triple-A St. Paul last weekend and will get an opportunity to make a start for the Twins against his former team. The right-hander was knocked around for six runs over three innings versus the White Sox last month in his only start for Minnesota.

Kyle Leahy RP | STL
Cardinals' Kyle Leahy: Could start final game of season
Leahy is an option to start the final game of the season Sunday against the Cubs, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
It would be a sneak peek at Leahy as a starting pitcher as the Cardinals consider moving him into the rotation next season. All 97 of Leahy's appearances at the big-league level to this point have come in relief, though he has often gone multiple innings in his outings this season. The righty might be capable of covering 3-to-4 innings Sunday, but it would essentially be a bullpen game for the Cardinals.

Aaron Civale SP | ATH
Cubs' Aaron Civale: Earns first career save
Civale earned the save in Wednesday's 10-3 win over the Mets, allowing one run on two hits and striking out three over three innings.
Civale entered in the seventh with an eight-run cushion and cruised to the finish line, with his only blemish coming on a solo homer by Juan Soto in the eighth. It marked the right-hander's first career MLB save and capped off a strong regular-season stint with the Cubs. Since being acquired across from the White Sox, the 30-year-old has posted a 2.08 ERA and a flawless 14:0 K:BB through 13 innings, a notable turnaround from his earlier struggles with the Cubs' crosstown rivals.

Tristan Beck RP | SF
Giants' Tristan Beck: Picks up save Wednesday
Beck earned a save against the Cardinals on Wednesday, allowing one hit in a scoreless ninth inning.
Beck was called upon in the ninth inning with San Francisco up by one run. He gave up a single to open the frame, but that was quickly wiped out on a double play, and the right-hander then ended the game by getting a bunt groundout. Beck had one save this season prior to Wednesday, though that was in a game during which he tossed three innings in early September. Ryan Walker has been San Francisco's closer for much of the season, but he wasn't deployed Wednesday after throwing 27 pitches and giving up two runs in a blown save against St. Louis one day earlier.

J.T. Brubaker SP | SF
Giants' JT Brubaker: Goes four frames in spot start
Brubaker tossed four innings in a no-decision against St. Louis on Wednesday, allowing two runs on four hits and one walk while striking out four batters.
Brubaker was given a turn in the rotation after the Giants decided to shut down Robbie Ray for the remainder of the campaign. Brubaker fared okay in the outing, giving up a pair of third-inning runs but getting through four frames on 68 pitches and notching four punchouts. This was the right-hander's first start of the season, though he'd thrown at least two innings in each of his previous five appearances coming into Wednesday. If Brubaker doesn't enter in any of the Giants' final three games -- a distinct possibility given his pitch count Wednesday -- he'll finish the campaign with a 3.77 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 22:12 K:BB over 28.2 innings during his time with the Giants.

Justin Wrobleski P | LAD
Dodgers' Justin Wrobleski: Steps up for extra-inning save
Wrobleski notched a save against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, striking out two batters in a perfect 11th inning.
The Dodgers' bullpen blew another late lead Wednesday, as Arizona scored three times in the eighth inning to tie the score. Los Angeles was able to push the game into extra frames, and after neither team scored in the 10th, the Dodgers managed a run in the top of the 11th inning. Wrobleski then came in for the bottom of the frame and sandwiched two punchouts around a groundout to earn a tough save. It was the left-hander's second save of the campaign, though his first was of the three-inning variety against Tampa Bay on Aug. 1. The Dodgers' bullpen has been in disarray throughout much of the season -- the team has 27 total blown saves, and the club's saves leader, Tanner Scott, has 10 -- so it's not infeasible that Wrobleski's clutch performance Wednesday could earn him some high-leverage looks (and even save chances) as manager Dave Roberts looks to find reliable late-inning arms.

Kenley Jansen RP | DET
Angels' Kenley Jansen: Shuts door for 28th save
Jansen secured the save Wednesday against the Royals, striking out two in a clean ninth inning.
Jansen posted his 28th save of the season, and he hasn't permitted a single hit over his last nine appearances. Through 59 innings, the veteran right-hander has a 2.64 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 54:19 K:BB while blowing just one save opportunity. Jansen is headed for unrestricted free agency this winter, and he'll soon set his sights toward trying to become only the third member of the illustrious 500-save club along with Mariano Rivera and Trevor Hoffman. Jansen has 475 saves for his career.

Phil Maton RP | CHC
Rangers' Phil Maton: Slams door for fifth save
Maton threw a clean ninth inning for the save Wednesday against Minnesota. He struck out one.
Maton recorded his career-high fifth save of the season in his eighth consecutive scoreless outing. The right-hander has given the Rangers' bullpen a nice boost for the most part since coming over from St. Louis, working to a 3.27 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 32:7 K:BB over 22 innings for Texas. Maton's 2.69 ERA and 1.04 WHIP in 2025 both represent career bests.

Louie Varland SP | TOR
Blue Jays' Louis Varland: Starting bullpen game
Varland will start Thursday's game against the Red Sox, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.
Varland has turned in a 5.66 ERA and 1.50 WHIP over 20.2 innings since being traded to Toronto, and the Jays will now see how he fares in a new role. The 27-year-old righty began his career working primarily as a starter with the Twins, though he will likely only remain in Thursday's game for an inning or two before turning things over to the bullpen.

Sawyer Gipson-Long SP | DET
Tigers' Sawyer Gipson-Long: Throws bullpen Tuesday
Gipson-Long (neck) threw a bullpen session Tuesday and is working out in Toledo as part of reserve squad with the Triple-A season over, per MLB.com.
Gipson-Long has been out since Sept. 11 due to neck stiffness. It's possible he returns before the regular season ends, though the Tigers now have just four games remaining. If Gipson-Long does make it back this week, he'll likely slot into a bullpen role with limited fantasy value. The 27-year-old righty could reemerge as a rotation option in 2026, depending on what Detroit does over the offseason.
