Mitch Farris RP | LAA
Angels' Mitch Farris: Possible candidate for rotation
Farris was scratched ahead of his scheduled start Sunday with Double-A Rocket City and could be called up to enter the Angels rotation during the team's four-game series in Kansas City that begins Monday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
After optioning Jack Kochanowicz to Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday and placing Tyler Anderson (oblique) on the 15-day injured list Sunday, the Angels will have openings in their rotation Tuesday and Wednesday in Kansas City. The newly signed Jose Urena looks like a strong bet to fill one of those slots, and Farris appears to be as good of a candidate as any within the organization to take over the other rotation vacancy. Though Farris doesn't have a spot on the 40-man roster and has yet to pitch at the Triple-A level, the 24-year-old lefty has dazzled over his last four starts for Rocket City, turning in a 1.52 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 32:6 K:BB in 23.2 innings. Even if he doesn't get the call to the big leagues during the upcoming week, Farris may have at the very least earned himself a bump up to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Aroldis Chapman RP | BOS
Red Sox's Aroldis Chapman: Up to 27 saves
Chapman earned the save Sunday against the Pirates, striking out two in a perfect ninth inning.
Fresh off signing a one-year contract extension with the Red Sox, Chapman kept rolling Sunday to lock down his 27th save this season. The lefty has held opponents without a hit in his last 12.2 innings, striking out 14 while issuing four walks in that span. Chapman's ERA is down to 1.02 with a 0.66 WHIP and 76 strikeouts across 53 innings this year.

Yimi Garcia RP | TOR
Blue Jays' Yimi Garcia: Moves to 60-day IL
The Blue Jays transferred Garcia (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Sunday.
The Blue Jays announced Friday that Garcia would require season-ending surgery to clean up scar tissue around his right elbow, so it was only a matter of time before he was shifted to the 60-day IL to open up a spot on the 40-man roster. The right-hander finished the 2025 campaign with a 3.86 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 25:12 K:BB over 21 innings. Garcia is owed $7.5 million for 2026 and is expected to be healthy for the start of spring training.

Emilio Pagan RP | CIN
Reds' Emilio Pagan: Grabs 26th save
Pagan earned the save in Sunday's 7-4 win over the Cardinals, allowing one hit while striking out three in a scoreless ninth inning.
After blowing back-to-back saves, Pagan has responded with four consecutive scoreless appearances (four innings), striking out six in that span. Pagan's converted 26 of 31 save chances this season while posting a 2.88 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 66:20 K:BB across 56.1 innings.

Tim Mayza RP | PHI
Phillies' Tim Mayza: Claimed by Philly
The Phillies claimed Mayza (lat) off waivers from the Pirates on Sunday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
The left-hander has been sidelined since April due to a shoulder injury but has made four rehab appearances in the minors over the past couple weeks. Mayza may need another minor-league appearance or two with his new organization before coming off the injured list.

Bryse Wilson RP | CHW
White Sox's Bryse Wilson: Called up Sunday
The White Sox selected Wilson's contract from Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday.
After Wilson produced a 6.65 ERA, 1.90 WHIP and 27:19 K:BB in 45.1 innings over 19 appearances (five starts) in the majors, the White Sox pushed him off their 40-man roster June 10. He remained in the organization upon clearing waivers, and he's performed well as a swingman for Charlotte, netting a 3.86 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 36:8 K:BB in 39.2 innings over 14 appearances (seven starts). Assuming he isn't needed in relief Sunday, Wilson could slot into the rotation spot vacated by Aaron Civale, who had been scheduled to start Monday's game in Minnesota before he was claimed off waivers by the Cubs.

Porter Hodge SP | CHC
Cubs' Porter Hodge: Returns to big leagues
The Cubs recalled Hodge from Triple-A Iowa on Sunday.
The right-hander got opportunities to close early in the season, but he's been at Triple-A since late July after recovering from a shoulder injury. Hodge has struggled to a 6.85 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 25:12 K:BB across 23.2 major-league innings this year, and he didn't fare much better for Iowa with a 6.61 ERA. Daniel Palencia has since locked down the closer role for the Cubs, and Hodge will likely fill a lower-leverage role.

Freddy Tarnok RP | MIA
Marlins' Freddy Tarnok: Rejoins big club
The Marlins recalled Tarnok from Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday.
Miami had optioned Tarnok to Triple-A on Thursday, but he'll rejoin the big club just three days later after Ryan Gusto (shoulder) was placed on the injured list in a corresponding move. Tarnok has made three appearances out of the Marlins bullpen this season, covering 4.1 innings while allowing two earned runs on one hit and two walks.

Chris Devenski RP | PIT
Mets' Chris Devenski: Sent to Triple-A
The Mets optioned Devenski to Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday.
Devenski was called up ahead of Saturday's game and will return to Syracuse after delivering three scoreless frames in the Mets' 11-8 loss to the Marlins. The right-hander has a 2.30 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 12:5 K:BB across 15.2 big-league innings this year and could get another look with the Mets during the final month of the regular season.
