Finnegan allowed a hit in a scoreless inning and earned a save over the Marlins on Friday.

Finnegan worked around a two-out single by Jesus Sanchez to finish off the 4-1 victory. It was Finnegan's 37th save of the year and his first since recording two during a Sept. 7 doubleheader against the Pirates. He owns a 3.36 ERA with a 56:20 K:BB through 59 innings. Finnegan has converted 14 of his last 15 save chances despite registering a 4.79 ERA during that span (21 appearances).

Holton earned the save in Friday's 1-0 victory over the Orioles, allowing one hit while striking out two in a scoreless ninth inning.

Holton let a combined no-hitter slip through his fingers when he allowed a two-out triple to Gunnar Henderson. However, the left-hander rebounded to strike out Anthony Santander, stranding the tying run at third to earn his eighth save this season. The 28-year-old Holton has been excellent of late, allowing just one run while striking out 16 in his last 15 appearances (20.1 innings). His ERA is down to 2.21 through 85.2 innings with a 0.79 WHIP and 67:14 K:BB.

Fulmer (elbow) threw a bullpen session Friday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Friday marks the first time Fulmer has thrown off a mound since he landed on the injured list in late August due to right elbow inflammation. It's still unclear if the right-hander will be able to pitch again before the end of the season, though the Angels likely won't be in any rush to insert him back into their rotation given the fact they have already been eliminated from playoff contention, and the 30-year-old journeyman likely isn't in their future plans.

The Rangers optioned White to Triple-A Round Rock on Friday.

White made one appearance after coming up from the minors last week, during which he allowed two earned runs on three hits over two innings without recording a strikeout. He'll now be sent back to Triple-A in order to make room on the active roster for Jacob deGrom (elbow), who returned from the 60-day IL to start Friday's contest.

Fitts will start Friday's game against the Yankees, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Tanner Houck (shoulder) was originally slated to start Friday, his first outing since he faced the Mets on Sept. 4, but it appears the right-hander is not yet ready to return to the mound. Fitts impressed in his major-league debut Sunday, albeit against the lowly White Sox, giving up two unearned runs on six hits and one walk while striking out two across 5.2 innings while not factoring into the decision.

The Cubs claimed Herget off waivers from Atlanta and optioned him to Triple-A Iowa on Friday, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Herget made eight appearances for Atlanta and posted a 4.38 ERA and 1.30 WHIP across 12.1 major-league innings before being designated for assignment. After being scooped up by the Cubs, Herget will take over a spot on the organization's 40-man roster, but he'll head to the Triple-A level for now.

Hendriks said Friday that he will receive a cortisone injection in his right elbow Monday, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

Hendriks added that an MRI revealed fluid sacs near his right elbow, which could be taken care of with a cortisone shot, per Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic. Hendriks is hoping to join the Boston bullpen for the last week or two of the regular season, but that will largely depend on the Red Sox staying in the AL wild-card race. He's in the final stretch of his recovery from Tommy John surgery that he underwent in August of 2023.

Nunez (forearm) has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2024 season, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Nunez has been dealing with a lingering forearm injury he initially sustained in late July. Nunez was reinstated Aug. 23 but was placed back on the shelf Aug. 29 when his flexor injury returned. The right-hander appeared in 25 games for the Mets this year, logging a 2.31 ERA and 0.91 WHIP across 35 innings with an impressive 48:8 K:BB.

Foster was placed on the 15-day injured list Friday with a lower-back disc herniation.

The move is retroactive to Sept. 12. Foster has given up two runs in 3.2 innings over four appearances since getting recalled from Triple-A Charlotte on Sept. 3. Jake Eder was promoted in a corresponding move.

Brieske will serve as the opener Friday against the Orioles.

Lefty Brant Hurter will likely come in after Brieske faces five or six batters. Brieske has a 5.84 ERA and 1.95 WHIP in 12.1 innings while working as an opener this season.
