Carlos Estevez RP | KC
Royals' Carlos Estevez: Locks down 39th save
Estevez picked up the save in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Guardians, tossing a perfect ninth inning.
Called upon in the ninth to protect a one-run lead, Estevez extended his scoreless streak to 10 appearances while converting his MLB-leading 39th save of the season. The veteran right-hander is now on the verge of becoming just the eighth Royal to ever reach the 40-save mark in a single campaign and the first since 2014. Estevez has been a model of consistency at the back end of Kansas City's bullpen, posting a 2.45 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 52:21 K:BB across 62.1 innings this year.

Andrew Kittredge RP | BAL
Cubs' Andrew Kittredge: Closes out Atlanta for save
Kittredge picked up the save Wednesday against Atlanta, striking out one in a clean ninth inning.
It's notable that Kittredge saw Chicago's first save opportunity since closer Daniel Palencia (shoulder) landed on the injured list. That usage would appear to put him first in line for future save chances, though it's certainly still possible that manager Craig Counsell has a committee approach in mind for his closer position for the time being. Kittredge is worth a speculative add in most fantasy formats as this situation unfolds -- the veteran right-hander owns a 3.45 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 52:10 K:BB through 47 innings on the season.

Bryan Abreu RP | HOU
Astros' Bryan Abreu: Bounces back with fifth save
Abreu picked up the save Wednesday against Toronto, striking out one in a clean ninth inning.
One night after blowing a save against the Blue Jays, Abreu rebounded with his fifth save of the season Wednesday. The hard-throwing right-hander has fanned at least one in nine consecutive outings, and he remains in position to close out the regular season as Houston's stopper in the absence of closer Josh Hader (shoulder). Through 66 frames this year, Abreu has a 2.45 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 101:29 K:BB.

Grant Taylor RP | CHW
White Sox's Grant Taylor: Leaves with injury
Taylor was removed from Wednesday's game against the Rays with a right groin strain.
The White Sox turned to Taylor in a save situation Wednesday, but he had to come out of the game after throwing just seven pitches with decreased velocity. The White Sox will further evaluate him Thursday, at which point more details regarding the severity of his injury may be revealed. If he requires a stint on the IL, his absence could lead to more high-leverage work for Brandon Eisert or Steven Wilson going forward.

Orlando Ribalta RP | WAS
Nationals' Orlando Ribalta: Sent down to Rochester
The Nationals optioned Ribalta to Triple-A Rochester on Wednesday.
Since being promoted into Washington's bullpen Aug. 1, Ribalta has turned in a 5.27 ERA and 1.90 WHIP alongside a 15:11 K:BB across 13.2 innings. The 27-year-old's subpar performance will now cause him to return to the minors in anticipation of MacKenzie Gore's (shoulder) return from the injured list Thursday.

Carson Seymour SP | SF
Giants' Carson Seymour: Early exit vs. Arizona
Seymour (1-3) took the loss Wednesday against the Diamondbacks, allowing four runs on six hits across 1.1 innings. He struck out one.
It was a rough day for Seymour, who gave up a home run to Geraldo Perdomo to lead off the game before giving up three more runs before departing with one out in the second. The 26-year-old Seymour has given up nine runs across 9.1 innings in three starts with the Giants. He's currently scheduled to face the Diamondbacks again in his next outing, though he could return to the bullpen when Carson Whisenhunt (back) is able to rejoin the rotation.

Kenley Jansen RP | DET
Angels' Kenley Jansen: Notches 27th save
Jansen struck out two in a perfect ninth inning Wednesday to record his 27th save of the season in a 4-3 win over the Twins.
The veteran closer has converted 12 straight save chances since the beginning of July, posting a 1.37 ERA, 0.65 WHIP and 26:7 K:BB in 26.1 innings over that stretch while also adding four wins. Jansen is up to 474 saves for his career, leaving him four behind Hall of Famer Lee Smith for third place on the all-time list.

Aroldis Chapman RP | BOS
Red Sox's Aroldis Chapman: Takes first loss since May
Chapman (4-3) took the loss Wednesday against the A's, allowing a run on two hits in one-third of an inning.
Shea Langeliers led off the bottom of the ninth inning with a double, the first hit given up by Chapman since July 23, a span of 14.2 innings. Langeliers would advance to third on a sacrifice fly before Chapman gave up a game-winning single to Lawrence Butler. Despite the hiccup Wednesday, it's been an incredible season for the 37-year-old Chapman, who sports a sparkling 1.14 ERA, 0.67 WHIP and 81 strikeouts over 55.1 innings.

Phil Maton RP | CHC
Rangers' Phil Maton: Notches fourth save
Maton earned the save in Wednesday's 6-3 win over the Brewers, striking out one without allowing a run over two-thirds of an inning.
After Shawn Armstrong walked Issac Collins with one out in the ninth, Maton was brought in to face the top of Milwaukee's batting order. The right-hander would strike out Brice Turnag before Jackson Chourio lined out, sealing the three-run Texas victory. It's the fourth save of the year for Maton and his first since August 5 -- he had blown his last three save chances while posting a 5.73 ERA in 11 innings prior to Wednesday, thus ceding the closing job to Armstrong. Overall, Maton's ERA sits at 2.95 this season with a 1.09 WHIP and 73 strikeouts across 55 innings between the Rangers and Cardinals.

Reid Detmers SP | LAA
Angels' Reid Detmers: Exits with trainer
Detmers was removed from Wednesday's game against the Twins with a forearm injury, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.
Detmers reportedly didn't like how the ball was coming out of his hand while on the mound Wednesday and felt something in his forearm, leading the Angels' training staff to pull the lefty after he gave up a double to James Outman in the eighth inning. The Halos should provide some clarity on the severity of Detmers' injury in the near future, but he can be considered day-to-day for the time being.
