Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Monday that Myers will remain in the rotation, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Myers has held his own in two starts for the Brewers, allowing three runs with a 9:1 K:BB over 10 innings. With DL Hall (knee) and Jakob Junis (shoulder) still out and Wade Miley (elbow) done for the season, the Brewers don't have much of a choice in giving Myers at least one more turn while the organization's rotation depth has been tested early on. He's tentatively lined up to start in Chicago against the Cubs this weekend.

Duran (oblique) is with the Twins in Chicago for their series against the White Sox and his activation from the 15-day injured list appears imminent, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

There's no word on Duran possibly being activated Monday, but it sounds like he should join the roster at some point during the series. The closer has been out all season with a right oblique strain but is ready to roll after making two rehab appearances. It's possible manager Rocco Baldelli will want to see Duran in a low-leverage spot or two initially, but it shouldn't be long before he's closing again for the Twins.

The Rays recalled Lopez from Triple-A Durham on Monday.

Lopez has been a full-time starter for Durham this season, but he'll operate as a multi-inning relief option while he joins the Rays for the second time in 2024. The Rays placed right-handed reliever Chris Devenski (knee) on the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move.

Devenski's placement on the IL is retroactive to Friday, so he'll be eligible to return as soon as May 11. The Rays called up Jacob Lopez from Triple-A Durham to fill Devenski's spot on the 26-man active roster and in the bullpen.

Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said Monday that Kimbrel (back) is considered day-to-day, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Kimbrel failed to record an out and was charged with two earned runs and his second consecutive blown save in Sunday's 7-6 loss to the Athletics before being lifted from the contest due to upper-back tightness. The team is hopeful that Kimbrel can avoid a stint on the 15-day injured list, but he presumably won't be available Monday against the Yankees, and potentially a few more days beyond that. Yennier Cano is the favorite to close for the Orioles while Kimbrel recovers.

The Orioles activated Perez (oblique) from the 15-day injured list Monday, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.

Perez has been out most of this season with a right oblique strain but is ready to go after making two rehab appearances. Right-hander Dillon Tate was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk in a corresponding move.

The Orioles optioned Tate to Triple-A Norfolk on Monday, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.

Tate holds a 2.84 ERA this season, although that's come with a 6:6 K:BB over 12.2 innings. This seems to mostly be a case of him having options left working against him, however. Cionel Perez (oblique) was reinstated from the 15-day injured list and will take over Tate's spot on the active roster.

Barriera's agent, Nate Heisler, announced Monday via social media that his client recently underwent a hybrid surgery on his left elbow and will miss the rest of the 2024 season.

More specifically, Heisler notes that Barriera underwent a traditional Tommy John surgery along with an internal brace procedure. Though an internal brace procedure alone typically entails a 9-to-12-month recovery for pitchers compared to a 12-to-16-month recovery for Tommy John surgery, it's unclear what sort of timeline Barriera might be looking at with a fusion of the two surgeries. In any event, Barriera won't be available until at least next spring, slowing the development of one of the top young arms in the Blue Jays farm system.

Brown is scheduled to start Thursday's game versus the Mets at Citi Field.

After making two consecutive appearances out of the bullpen, Brown moved back into the rotation over the weekend following Kyle Hendricks (back) move to the 15-day injured list. Brown ended up taking a loss in his start Saturday versus the Red Sox, striking out four over 3.2 innings while allowing three earned runs on seven hits and zero walks. Despite the lackluster outing, Brown will get at least one more turn through the rotation while the Cubs wait for both Hendricks and Jordan Wicks (forearm) to make their returns from the IL.

Thornton (0-1) took the loss against the Diamondbacks on Sunday, allowing an earned run on a hit and a walk over one inning.

Thornton was entrusted with preserving a 2-2 tie when he entered in the eighth inning, but he set himself up for some trouble by issuing a leadoff walk to Kevin Newman and subsequently surrendered a double to Ketel Marte that plated him with the go-ahead run. The Mariners would prove unable to overcome the one-run deficit, saddling Thornton with the loss. The stumble snapped what had been a near month-long stretch of impressive pitching for Thornton, who hadn't allowed a run in 10 consecutive appearances and had lowered his ERA from 13.50 to 0.84 in the process.
