Suarez earned a save against the Giants on Monday, retiring all three batters he faced in the ninth inning.

Suarez had a three-run lead to work with when he entered in the ninth frame and mowed San Francisco down in order on 19 pitches. The All-Star closer blew his previous save chance Saturday against Boston but has been very effective overall this season with a league-leading 33 saves in 38 opportunities. Though San Diego acquired Mason Miller from the A's at the trade deadline, Suarez's closer role hasn't been imposed upon -- he has three saves since Miller (who pitched the eighth inning Monday) joined the team.

Alexander allowed two hits and one walk while striking out five across 4.1 scoreless innings against the White Sox on Monday. He did not factor into the decision.

Alexander followed Elvis Peguero into the game and was especially effective as a bulk reliever. He generated 15 called strikes on 65 total pitches, allowing him to work from ahead in the count in most at-bats. Alexander has flipped between a starting workload and a more traditional relief role but has maintained an impressive 2.59 ERA acorss 17 appearances and 41.2 innings since joining the White Sox on June 8.

Vest tossed a scoreless inning of relief with a strikeout to earn the save in Monday's 2-1 win over the White Sox.

Though Kyle Finnegan has seemingly taken over closing duties from Vest since joining the Tigers at the trade deadline, it was Vest working the ninth inning Monday with Finnegan taking the eighth. It was the first save for Vest since July 20 and his 17th this season in 22 chances. Both pitchers figure to see high-leverage work moving forward, and while Finnegan is the top reliever to target in Detroit's bullpen at the moment, Vest still has some fantasy value in his current role.

Finnegan (2-4) tossed a scoreless inning of relief with a strikeout to earn the win in Monday's 2-1 victory over the White Sox.

Finnegan has earned three saves with the Tigers since coming over before the trade deadline, but he was used in the eighth inning Monday and managed to pick up his first win with his new team while Will Vest got the save. Finnegan still looks like Detroit's top closing option at the moment, though manager A.J. Hinch is known for mixing and matching with his bullpen, so Vest figures to remain in the mix for saves, giving both players fantasy value moving forward.

Astros manager Joe Espada said that Hader wasn't available to pitch in Monday's 7-6 victory over the Red Sox due to left shoulder discomfort, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Espada didn't specify whether Hader will require a stint on the injured list due to the shoulder issue, as the Astros will sent the closer in for further tests before deciding his next steps. While Hader was unavailable Monday, the Astros sent right-hander Enyel De Los Santos to the mound to begin the ninth inning, and he retired two of three hitters before being pulled in favor of lefty Bennett Sousa, who struck out the left-handed-hitting Roman Anthony to secure the save.

Mejia (1-1) took the loss and a blown save in Monday's 3-2 defeat to St. Louis, allowing two runs on two hits and a walk in one inning. He struck out one.

Mejia is sharing Colorado's closer gig with Victor Vodnik while Seth Halvorsen (elbow) is sidelined, but Monday' showing doesn't bode well for Mejia's chances of earning future save opportunities. Vodnik has also yielded at least one run in five of his last seven outings, so this is perhaps becoming a situation to avoid for fantasy purposes outside of rosters desperate for saves. Through 43 innings, Mejia has a 4.19 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 47:14 K:BB.

The Marlins optioned Soriano to Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday.

Soriano was roughed up for four earned runs on three hits and one walk in a one-inning appearance his last time out Saturday against Atlanta, causing his ERA to jump to 9.28 over 21.1 innings this season. He'll look to regain his footing at Triple-A following Monday's demotion.

The Mets activated Waddell (hip) from the 15-day injured list Monday and optioned him to Triple-A Syracuse.

Waddell suffered a right hip impingement in late July, and despite being optioned to Triple-A, the Mets were able to reverse the transaction and place him on the IL since he hadn't appeared for Syracuse following his demotion. Now that he's back to full health after making three rehab appearances with Syracuse, he'll stick around with the Triple-A club. Waddell owns a 4.34 ERA and 1.50 WHIP with a 38:17 K:BB across 47.2 innings (nine starts) for Syracuse this season.

Estevez earned the save in Monday's 7-4 win against the Nationals, allowing one walk and no hits over a scoreless inning.

The 32-year-old reached the 30-save mark for the second time in his nine-year career, working around a two-out walk. Estevez has now converted five consecutive save opportunities since his last blown save July 18, pitching to a 3.00 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 7:4 K:BB in nine innings over that span. Across 51.1 total frames, the Royals closer sports a 2.81 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 42:19 K:BB while going 30-for-36 in save opportunities.

Martin (calf) threw a bullpen session Sunday, MLB.com reports.

This was the second bullpen session of the weekend for Martin, who is expected to face batters Tuesday. If all goes well against hitters, the right-hander is expected to begin a brief rehab assignment.
