Manaea allowed two runs on seven hits and struck out eight without walking a batter over six innings in a no-decision versus the Padres on Wednesday.

Manaea rejoined the rotation Sept. 12, and over his last four starts, he's maintained an 18:2 K:BB over 24 innings. He wasn't able to pick up a third straight win, but he earned a second straight quality start. The southpaw had his ups and downs while moving between the rotation and bullpen during the year, but he's posted a respectable 4.44 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 128:42 K:BB over 117.2 innings overall. This was likely his last start of the campaign, and after throwing 100 pitches (67 strikes), it seems improbable that he'd be able to make a relief appearance over the weekend.

Cosgrove pitched a perfect 10th inning to earn the save in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Giants.

Regular closer Josh Hader was deployed in the ninth inning to keep the game tied, and he did the job just fine. Cosgrove then worked the 10th, retiring the side on 13 pitches (nine strikes). This was his first big-league save in 52 appearances as a rookie this season -- he's also added six holds and a 1-2 record while mostly seeing lower-leverage work. Cosgrove owns a 1.81 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 43:17 K:BB over 49.2 innings overall.

Leiter allowed a run on two hits while retiring only one batter to record a blown save in Wednesday's extra-inning loss to Atlanta.

Leiter got a crack at the ninth inning with the Cubs up 4-3, but he allowed a Marcell Ozuna home run to record his fourth blown save of the season. With regular closer Adbert Alzolay (forearm) on the injured list, Leiter has failed to step up, as he now has an ugly 9.45 ERA this month. The Cubs will likely need to turn to Julian Merryweather in save opportunities for the time being considering the magnitude of their next four games.

The Rangers reinstated Sborz (hamstring) from the 15-day injured list Wednesday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Sborz had been on the injured list since Sept. 5 due to a strained hamstring. He threw one inning during a rehab assignment with Triple-A Round Rock, during which he gave up two hits and struck out three batters. The 29-year-old righty has put up a 5.80 ERA and 1.19 WHIP through 49.2 frames this season and figures to be in the mix for high-leverage outings as the Rangers push for a postseason spot. Jake Latz was optioned to Round Rock in a corresponding move.

Bukauskas was placed on the 15-day injured list Wednesday, retroactive to Sept. 25, with a right ring finger tendon injury.

The severity of the injury is unclear, but Bukauskas is now poised to be sidelined through at least the NLDS, assuming the Brewers advance. Ethan Small was recalled from Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move.

Doyle was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque Wednesday, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

The 27-year-old was demoted in early September but will return to the major-league club for the final five games of the campaign. Doyle has a 5.31 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 14:9 K:BB across 20.1 innings this season.

Kauffmann was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

The right-hander was sent to Triple-A on Sept. 16 but will rejoin the MLB club with Daniel Bard (forearm) and Ryan Feltner (elbow) landing on the injured list. Kauffmann has started in three of his nine big-league appearances this season and has a 7.28 ERA across 29.2 innings, and it's possible he receives another start in Colorado's last five games given its injury issues in the rotation.

Bard was placed on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with a right flexor strain, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

The veteran right-hander presumably picked up the injury Tuesday versus the Dodgers when he allowed a run on a hit and two walks over one inning. Bard finished this season with a 4.56 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and 47:49 K:BB in 49.1 innings and is under contract for 2024 at $9.5 million.

The Angels transferred Loup (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list Wednesday.

This move clears out a 40-man roster spot for Kelvin Caceres, who has earned the call to the Angels' big-league bullpen. Loup was shut down last week with a left shoulder strain.

The Angels optioned Marte to Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday.

Marte has allowed 10 runs -- nine earned -- in 9.1 major-league innings this season. Kelvin Caceres will fill the vacant spot in the Angels' bullpen ahead of Wednesday's game against the Rangers.
