Wood allowed an unearned run on four hits and three walks while striking out five over 4.2 innings versus the Padres on Tuesday. He did not factor in the decision.

The Giants were shut out, and John Brebbia took the loss as the opener after giving up a solo home run to Juan Soto in the first inning. Wood was better, though he still gave up an elevated number of baserunners. The veteran southpaw is now at a 4.33 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 74:42 K:BB through 97.2 innings over 29 appearances (12 starts) this year. Wood could get one more outing out of the bullpen this season, though he threw 83 pitches (54 strikes) in this appearance.

Brebbia (3-3) allowed one run on one hit and struck out two over 1.1 innings, taking the loss as the opener Tuesday versus the Padres.

Kyle Harrison (illness) was a late scratch, with Brebbia stepping into his familiar opener role on short notice. Brebbia gave up a solo home run to Juan Soto in the first inning, and that was enough to take the loss as the Giants' offense mustered just six baserunners in the game. The right-hander has faded late in the season, allowing five runs (four earned) over his last four appearances, taking a loss in three of those outings. He's at a 3.65 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 46:12 K:BB through 37 innings this season.

Hader struck out the only batter he faced to earn the save in Tuesday's 4-0 win over the Giants.

Seth Lugo ran out of gas in the ninth inning, exiting with 123 pitches. Hader entered with two on and two out and struck out Wilmer Flores to end the game. Hader has pitched 4.2 scoreless innings over his last six appearances while adding four saves and a win in that span. He's at 32 saves in 37 chances this season while posting an excellent 1.18 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 82:28 K:BB through 53.1 innings.

Holmes picked up the save in Tuesday's 2-0 victory over the Blue Jays. He allowed one hit and no walks with no strikeouts in a scoreless inning.

Holmes handled business in the ninth inning, locking down the team win on 19 pitches and recording his career-high 23rd save in the process. The 30-year-old righty has been superb over his last 12 appearances, posting an 0.75 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and 11:5 K:BB over 12 innings. Holmes has pitched to a 2.90 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 69:23 K:BB overall this year.

Foley (3-3) pitched around a hit and a walk to record a clean inning of relief and earn the win Tuesday against the Royals. He struck out one.

Foley got into a little bit of trouble but managed to escape, thanks in large part to a double-play grounder off the bat of Bobby Witt. The righty reliever has been solid all season for the Tigers with a 2.65 ERA, and he leads the team with 28 holds. He's also managed to record seven saves, giving him some fantasy value here and there.

King did not factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing one hit and five walks over six scoreless innings against the Blue Jays. He struck out five.

Tuesday was King's seventh straight start dating back to Aug. 24 after he began the season in the bullpen. He hasn't allowed more than one run in any of those outings while posting a 1.04 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 47:9 K:BB across 34.1 innings. However, King has thrown 100.2 innings this year, far exceeding his previous high of 63.1 in 2021, so there's a possibility he could be shut down. If he does make another start, it's slated for the last Yankees game of the season on the road against the Royals on Sunday.

Bowlan will serve as the Royals' opening pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Tigers, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Bowlan's start Wednesday will mark the first appearance of his major-league career. The 26-year-old righty was rather unspectacular in the minors this season, recording a 5.91 ERA and 1.58 WHIP through 102 innings between Double-A Northwest Arkansas and Triple-A Omaha. Though Rogers' report labels Bowlan as an opener, he should be able to offer more length than what's typically associated with that role, given that his most recent appearance was a six-inning start for Omaha on Sept. 16. He'll have the benefit of facing a Tigers offense that owns MLB's second-lowest team OPS (.679).

The Giants placed Junis on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with a cervical strain, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Junis was taken out of his appearance Saturday against the Dodgers after reporting neck tightness, and he will now be held out for the final week of the season. The 31-year-old righty logged a 3.87 ERA and 1.29 WHIP through 86 innings while posting a 96:21 K:BB. Joey Bart was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento to fill Junis' roster spot.

The Angels recalled Ingram from Triple-A Salt Lake on Tuesday.

Ingram has given up five runs over 4.1 innings with the Angels this year, and he'll give the Angels some bullpen depth to close the season as Patrick Sandoval (oblique) heads to the injured list. Ingram logged a 2.95 ERA and 1.23 WHIP across 61 innings between Double-A and Triple-A in 2023.

The Marlins reinstated Brazoban (hamstring/hip) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Brazoban has been on the injured list since Aug. 14 due to a strained left hamstring and also was battling a left hip impingement. He gave up three runs over 2.2 innings during his rehab assignment with Triple-A Jacksonville and will serve as a bullpen depth piece as Miami fights for a playoff spot. Tanner Scott was placed on the paternity list in a corresponding move.
