Mantiply will serve as the Diamondbacks' opening pitcher for Tuesday's game in Colorado, Jody Jackson of Bally Sports Arizona reports.

After taking the loss in relief in Monday's series opener at Coors Field while failing to retire any of the three batters he faced en route to allowing three earned runs, Mantiply will get back on the hill Tuesday and attempt to right the ship. He tossed only 11 pitches Monday, so Mantiply should be able to give Arizona an inning or two before turning the game over to the bullpen. Arizona hasn't named a designated bulk reliever for the day, but manager Torey Lovullo could lean heavily on either Slade Cecconi or Bryce Jarvis, both of whom have started in the minors for most of the season and are available on three days' rest.

Lamet elected free agency Monday.

Lamet passed through waivers unclaimed after the Red Sox removed him from their 40-man roster, but he's decided to decline an outright assignment and look for a gig in a new location. The veteran right-hander holds an ugly 11.71 ERA over 17 appearances -- four starts -- at the big-league level in 2023.

Yacabonis elected free agency Monday.

Yacabonis cleared waivers after being removed from the Mets' 40-man roster but has declined an outright assignment and will look for a gig elsewhere. The righty reliever holds a 6.08 ERA and 107:75 K:BB in 131.2 innings at the major-league level.

Bolton was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis on Monday.

Bolton had been up as the 27th man for Sunday's doubleheader versus the Reds, tossing a scoreless frame in the nightcap. He's struggled overall at the big-league level this season, allowing 11 runs with a 10:11 K:BB over 11 innings.

Duarte was optioned to Triple-A Louisville on Monday.

Duarte picked up his first career save in the second game of Sunday's doubleheader versus the Pirates, but given he served as the 27th man for the twin bill, he was sent right back down. He's posted a 3.86 ERA with a 16:10 K:BB through 18.2 innings this season.

Edwards (shoulder) started a rehab assignment with the Nationals' Florida Complex League team Monday.

Edwards' first appearance with the FCL Nationals didn't go well, as he allowed three runs while recording just two outs. The veteran reliever has been sidelined since late June with right shoulder inflammation, so he figures to need a few more outings before rejoining the big club.

Ward yielded a pair of runs over two innings of work in his first game action since going down with a shoulder injury in early July. He figures to require a few more appearances before rejoining the Nationals' bullpen.

Mantiply (1-1) was charged with Monday's loss to the Rockies. He allowed three runs on three hits and did not retire a batter.

Mantiply and Scott McGough combined to cough up an Arizona lead in the eighth inning. Mantiply, who is expected to serve as an opener Tuesday, threw just 11 pitches, so Monday's usage should not prevent him from carrying out that assignment. Since returning to the majors Aug. 1, the left-hander has allowed six runs on six hits and one walk over 4.1 innings.

Lopez earned a save in Monday's 10-2 win over the Giants, allowing one run on three hits while striking out two batters over three innings.

Lopez was called up from Triple-A Durham earlier in the day and made his first big-league appearance in the bottom of the seventh inning with Tampa Bay holding a 6-1 lead. The southpaw encountered a bases-loaded situation due to an error, single and hit-by-pitch but showed poise in striking out Wade Meckler to end the threat. Lopez then allowed a run in the eighth before retiring the side in order in the ninth to earn the save. He threw 47 pitches in the outing, so he may be out of commission for a few days or sent back down to the minors in favor of a fresh arm.

Bautista earned a save in Monday's 4-1 win over the Padres, allowing two walks in a hitless and scoreless inning.

Bautista didn't make things easy on himself, as he threw only 10 of 21 pitches for strikes and issued a pair of one-out walks to bringing the tying run to the plate in the form of Manny Machado. However, the All-Star closer was able to get Machado to ground into a double play, ending the threat and giving Bautista his AL-best 32nd save. He's had an uncharacteristically tough time of late, though, allowing five runs on six hits and posting a 6:5 K:BB over his past 4.2 innings covering four appearances.
