  • Ryan Helsley RP | BAL

Cardinals' Ryan Helsley: Leaves with apparent injury

Helsley was removed from Tuesday's game against the Pirates with an apparent right hand injury, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Helsley retired the lone batter he faced after he entered for the eighth inning Tuesday, but he may have tweaked something while he fielded the ball. The specifics of the issue remain unclear, but the Cardinals could be illustrating caution with their playoff positioning already secured.

  • Emmanuel Clase RP | CLE

Guardians' Emmanuel Clase: Earns 42nd save

Clase picked up the save Tuesday against Kansas City, striking out two while allowing an unearned run on a hit in the ninth inning of a 5-3 win.

Clase got into a bit of a jam to begin the ninth as a single and an error gave the Royals runners on first and third with no outs. After a run scored on a fielder's choice, the closer struck out the final two batters to end the game. It was his 42nd save on the season and third in the last five days. He's allowed just two baserunners in his last five innings while striking out nine.

  • Will Vest RP | DET

Tigers' Will Vest: Set to open Game 2

Vest is expected to start Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Mariners, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

The 27-year-old made an emergency start last week and is set to start again in Tuesday's nightcap, assuming he isn't needed to pitch in Game 1. Vest hasn't covered more than an inning during any of his past 10 outings, so he's unlikely to record more than a few outs as an opener.

  • Mitch White RP | MIL

Blue Jays' Mitch White: Tuesday's start postponed

White won't start as scheduled Tuesday against the Orioles since the game was postponed due to inclement weather, Andy Kostka of The Baltimore Sun reports.

The 27-year-old has given up exactly three runs in each of his past three starts (covering 13.2 innings), and his final start of the regular season will be pushed back. The game will be made up via a doubleheader Wednesday, and White should start one of those contests.

  • Orioles' Mike Baumann: Tuesday's game postponed

Baumann won't pitch as scheduled Tuesday against the Blue Jays since the game was postponed due to inclement weather, Andy Kostka of The Baltimore Sun reports.

The 27-year-old was scheduled to make his final start of the season Tuesday but will instead have the outing pushed back a day. The game will be made up via a doubleheader Wednesday, and Baumann will start Game 2 of the twin bill, per Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com.

  • Taylor Clarke RP | ARI

Royals' Taylor Clarke: Done for season

Clarke was placed on the 15-day injured list Tuesday due to a left oblique strain.

With the regular season coming to an end soon and the Royals well outside of the playoff picture, Clarke will end the season on the injured list. He will finish the year with a 4.04 ERA and 1.18 WHIP over 49 innings to go along with a 3-1 record and three saves. Collin Snider was called up from Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday in a corresponding move.

  • Collin Snider RP | CHC

Royals' Collin Snider: Recalled from Triple-A

Snider was recalled from Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.

Snider will rejoin the Royals after Taylor Clarke (oblique) was placed on the 15-day injured list Tuesday. Snider has a 6.82 ERA and 1.67 WHIP over 33 innings out of the bullpen this season. His unimpressive numbers mean he will likely only be used in low-leverage situations as the Royals close out their season.

  • Reed Garrett RP | NYM

Nationals' Reed Garrett: Serving as 29th man

Garrett was called up to serve as the 29th man for Tuesday's doubleheader against the Mets, Jessica Camerato of MLB.com reports.

Garrett has thrown 7.2 major-league innings this season, allowing eight runs (seven earned) while striking out four and walking seven. If he pitches in either game, it will likely be in a low-leverage role.

  • Albert Abreu RP | CIN

Yankees' Albert Abreu: Back from injury

Abreu (elbow) was activated off the 15-day injured list Tuesday,

Abreu had been out since late August with right elbow inflammation, but he's good to go after making four scoreless relief appearances. In 38 major-league innings this season, Abreu owns a 3.32 ERA but a poor 1.47 WHIP.

  • Ron Marinaccio RP | CIN

Yankees' Ron Marinaccio: Lands on injured list

Marinaccio was placed on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with a stress reaction in his right shin.

Marinaccio has had a strong rookie season, posting a 2.05 ERA and a 30.9 percent strikeout rate in 44 innings of work. The injury means he'll end the season with those numbers and will remain unavailable for the ALDS, but it's possible he returns for the ALCS should the Yankees get that far.
