Astros' Ryan Pressly: Snags save, finishes no-hitter

Pressly tossed a perfect ninth inning while striking out two batters on his way to a save in Saturday's 3-0 win over the Yankees.

Pressly was called upon to finish a combined no-hitter and protect a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the ninth, successfully finishing the no-hitter while securing the save. He struck out two batters and rebounded well from the four-run blowup he had Thursday. The save was his 15th of the year and he now owns a 4.05 ERA and 1.30 WHIP with 17 strikeouts over 20 innings in 22 appearances.

  • Taylor Hearn RP | KC

Rangers' Taylor Hearn: Optioned to Triple-A

Hearn was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock following Saturday's victory over the Nationals.

Hearn will report to Round Rock after he was recently moved to the Rangers' bullpen. The left-hander has struggled greatly this season, posting a 6.25 ERA and 1.75 WHIP with 54 strikeouts over 59 innings in 13 starts. It remains unclear who will replace Hearn in the starting rotation, but the team is expected to make a corresponding move Sunday.

  • Dodgers' Victor Gonzalez: Resumes throwing

Manager Dave Roberts said Saturday that Gonzalez (elbow) has resumed throwing, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

It's not clear when Gonzalez resumed throwing, but it's encouraging to see him progressing in his recovery after he underwent left elbow surgery in mid-May. Roberts is optimistic that that the southpaw will rejoin the Dodgers sometime in August.

  • Tommy Kahnle RP | BOS

    Dodgers' Tommy Kahnle: Resumes throwing

Manager Dave Roberts said Saturday that Kahnle (forearm) has resumed throwing, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Kahnle was shut down in May due to a forearm strain in his forearm related to the Tommy John surgery he underwent in 2020. While it's not yet clear how long the right-hander has been throwing, Roberts hopes that the 32-year-old will be able to return sometime in August.

  • Daniel Hudson RP | LAD

Dodgers' Daniel Hudson: Moves to injured list

Hudson (knee) was diagnosed with a torn ACL and placed on the 15-day injured list Saturday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.

The veteran right-hander suffered the injury during Friday's win over Atlanta, and he'll miss the rest of the season after the diagnosis of a torn ACL was confirmed. Hudson finishes 2022 with a 2.22 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 30:5 K:BB across 24.1 innings, and it's unclear if he'll be healthy for spring training should he opt to return for a 14th MLB season.

  • Mitch White RP | MIL

Dodgers' Mitch White: Officially recalled prior to start

White was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City ahead of Saturday's start against Atlanta.

The 27-year-old is stepping in as Saturday's starter after Andrew Heaney (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day injured list Friday. White should have the chance to remain in the Dodgers' rotation during Heaney's absence after he posted a 3.86 ERA and 1.05 WHIP in 25.2 innings over nine appearances (four starts) in the majors earlier this season.

  • Mets' Colin Holderman: Starting rehab stint

Holderman (shoulder) will report to Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday to begin a rehab assignment, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Holderman has been out the past couple weeks with a right shoulder impingement, so he shouldn't require a lengthy rehab stint in the minors. The 26-year-old has appeared in 10 games in his first taste of the big leagues this year and has a 3.18 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 14:4 K:BB over 11.1 innings.

  • Brewers' Peter Strzelecki: Sent down by Milwaukee

Strzelecki was optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Saturday.

Strzelecki was called up from Nashville on June 11, and he allowed three runs in seven innings over four appearances during his stint with the major-league club. However, he'll head back to the minors as part of a move after Trevor Gott (groin) and Jandel Gustave (hamstring) were reinstated from the injured list Saturday.

  • Trevor Gott RP | WAS

Brewers' Trevor Gott: Reinstated from injured list

Gott (groin) was reinstated from the 15-day injured list Saturday.

Gott was on the injured list since early June, but he began a rehab assignment at High-A Wisconsin this week and allowed three runs in two innings. The right-hander worked his way into some setup duties prior to his absence, as he picked up seven holds while posting a 3.86 ERA and 1.05 WHIP in 21 innings over 22 appearances to begin the year.

  • Brett Martin RP | TEX

Rangers' Brett Martin: Serving as opener Saturday

Martin is serving as the opener during Saturday's game against the Nationals, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

The Rangers initially planned to use Matt Bush as an opener Saturday, but he was unavailable after he pitched in relief Friday. As a result, the team will turn to Martin, who will be making his first start since 2019. The southpaw has been effective since the start of June, as he's tossed four scoreless innings over four appearances this month.
