  • Jeff Brigham RP | CHC

    Diamondbacks' Jeff Brigham: Officially demoted

The Diamondbacks optioned Brigham to Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.

Brigham's demotion comes after he surrendered three runs without recording an out during Monday's win over Seattle. With Justin Martinez (elbow) and Christian Montes De Oca (elbow) moving to the IL, the D-backs will call up Kevin Ginkel, Bryce Jarvis and Tayler Scott to reinforce their bullpen.

  • Tayler Scott RP | ATL

Diamondbacks' Tayler Scott: Added to big-league bullpen

The Diamondbacks selected Scott's contract from Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.

Scott will come up alongside Kevin Ginkel and Bryce Jarvis to replace Jeff Brigham, Justin Martinez (elbow) and Christian Montes De Oca (elbow) in Arizona's bullpen. Scott, 33, turned in a 5.40 ERA and 1.68 WHIP in 16.2 innings during his time with the Astros this year, though he's fired 3.1 shutout innings in Triple-A since joining the D-backs organization.

  • Bryce Jarvis RP | ARI

    Diamondbacks' Bryce Jarvis: Officially promoted

The Diamondbacks recalled Jarvis from Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.

Jarvis will be promoted as part of a flurry of roster moves that also includes Kevin Ginkel and Tayler Scott joining the active roster, while Justin Martinez (elbow) and Christian Montes De Oca (elbow) land on the IL and Jeff Brigham returns to Triple-A. Jarvis has given up six earned runs in 7.1 major-league innings this season and will likely be reserved for low-leverage work while in Arizona.

  • Diamondbacks' Justin Martinez: Out with UCL sprain

The Diamondbacks placed Martinez on the 15-day injured list Tuesday due to a sprained UCL in his right elbow.

The right-hander experienced tightness in the elbow during the ninth inning of Monday's contest, and a UCL sprain is an ominous initial diagnosis. The severity of the issue isn't yet known, and manager Torey Lovullo said Martinez is headed for a second opinion on the MRI result, per Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic. Even a low-grade sprain could require a lengthy absence, with Tommy John surgery likely being the worst-case scenario. Shelby Miller is likely to be the next man up as Arizona's closer.

  • Kevin Ginkel RP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Kevin Ginkel: Back in Arizona

The Diamondbacks recalled Ginkel from Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.

Ginkel will be joined on the trip from Reno by Bryce Jarvis and Tayler Scott, who will all join the big-league squad to replace the injured Justin Martinez (elbow) and Christian Montes De Oca (elbow), as well as the demoted Jeff Brigham. Ginkel hasn't found much success in the big leagues this year with a 12.60 ERA through 10 innings, though he has the potential to bounce back after posting a 3.21 ERA in 70 MLB frames last season.

  • Lucas Erceg RP | KC

Royals' Lucas Erceg: Trending toward Wednesday return

Manager Matt Quatraro said Tuesday that Erceg (back) is expected to return from the injured list Wednesday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

A lower-back strain forced Erceg onto the injured list at the end of May, but after firing a shutout inning in a rehab game Sunday, the 30-year-old righty appears to be trending toward a minimum-length stay. Once healthy, he figures to slide right back into his usual role as Kansas City's primary setup man.

  • Lou Trivino RP | BAL

Dodgers' Lou Trivino: Opening Tuesday's contest

Trivino will serve as the Dodgers' opening pitcher in Tuesday's game against the Padres, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Trivino has been highly effective since joining the Dodgers on May 18, posting a 1.74 ERA and 1.16 WHIP across 10.1 innings. He'll now be entrusted with the first inning or two Tuesday, after which Matt Sauer is expected to pitch in bulk relief.

  • Jake Cousins RP | LAD

    Yankees' Jake Cousins: Rehab paused

The Yankees paused Cousins' (forearm/pectoral) rehab assignment Tuesday due to an elbow issue, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.

The team is still waiting for the results of an MRI that Cousins received Tuesday, but there's a chance he may need to spend some more time on the injured list. The 30-year-old reliever has been on the shelf all year due to a forearm strain followed by a pectoral injury, though he was cleared to begin playing in minor-league games last week.

  • Yilber Diaz SP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Yilber Diaz: Rejoining Triple-A Reno

Diaz was promoted from the rookie-level Arizona Complex League to Triple-A Reno on Tuesday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Diaz was transferred from Reno to the ACL back on May 26 as the Diamondbacks hoped to get him back on track following a rough start to the season in the Pacific Coast League, where he turned in a 7.50 ERA, 1.93 WHIP and 33:31 K:BB in 30 innings over his first eight starts. He made a lone appearance in the ACL on Saturday, giving up two earned runs across two innings but striking out five and walking none. The performance was enough for Diaz to earn a return to Triple-A, though it's unclear whether he'll slot back into Reno's rotation right away.

  • Diamondbacks' Andrew Saalfrank: Sent to Triple-A

The Diamondbacks assigned Saalfrank to Triple-A Reno from the Arizona Complex League on Tuesday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Saalfrank was reinstated from a the ineligible list June 5 after missing a year due to a suspension. He now returns to Triple-A Reno where he made 23 and 18 appearances during the 2023 and 2024 seasons, respectively.
