Singer (9-4) earned the win Saturday, allowing no runs on five hits while striking out five batters and walking one over six innings.

Singer continued his career year by tossing 59 of 89 pitches for strikes across six frames and not allowing a run to score despite allowing five hits and a walk. The righty has three quality starts and two wins in a row. Since Aug. 3, Singer has gone 5-1 and given up 15 earned runs in 56 innings for a 2.41 ERA, picking up seven quality starts along the way. His season ERA now sits at 3.07.

Varland (0-1) gave up four earned runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out three in five innings in Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Guardians.

The rookie was less effective than in his previous big-league start earlier this month against the Yankees. He now has a 5.23 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 10 strikeouts in 10.1 innings. Varland was up as the 29th man, so he will either be optioned off the active roster or work as a long reliever.

Taillon (13-5) gave up four earned runs on four hits and two walks while striking out four batters over five innings to take the loss in a 4-1 defeat against the Brewers on Saturday.

Taillon gave up a three-run home run to Willy Adames en route to his fifth loss of the campaign. He threw 61 of his 94 pitches for strikes in the contest and otherwise did a decent job limiting the Brewers lineup. Taillon has an ERA of 4.67 in three September starts. He is tentatively expected to take the bump next against the Red Sox.

Gray (7-7) allowed two earned runs on two hits and one walk while striking out four over 4.1 innings to take the loss in a 5-1 defeat against the Rays on Saturday.

Gray was making his second start since coming off the IL with an oblique strain and threw only 67 pitches. The start could be taken as a step in the right direction for Gray, who threw 45 pitches his last time out Sept 13. He has an excellent 125 strikeouts in 111.1 innings pitched this season, so he could help fantasy managers in that category as he goes deeper into games down the stretch. Gray is tentatively expected to make his next start against the Guardians.

Bradish (3-7) allowed five runs (three earned) on six hits and a walk with three strikeouts in 4.2 innings, taking the loss Saturday versus the Blue Jays.

Bradish gave up three runs over the first two innings, then put two runners aboard in the fifth that Jake Reed allowed to score on Raimel Tapia's three-run double. Bradish has quality starts in three of his last five outings, but the two that weren't quality both came against Toronto. The rookie right-hander owns a 5.05 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 93:37 K:BB through 101.2 innings across 20 starts this year. He's lined up for an even tougher start at home versus Houston next week.

Berrios (11-5) earned the win Saturday, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks over six innings against the Orioles. He struck out three.

Berrios surrendered a two-run single to Gunnar Henderson to cut the Orioles' deficit to one in the third inning. The righty's last nine starts have been inconsistent, as he has allowed four runs or more in three of them and two earned runs or fewer in the other six. In addition, the 28-year-old has thrown six innings or more in six of those games and four innings or fewer in two.

Bieber (11-8) gave up one run on four hits and zero walks while striking out six in eight innings Saturday against the Twins. He picked up the win.

Bieber was in complete control, save for a solo home run from rookie Matt Wallner in the eighth inning on a hanging breaking ball. He has given up exactly one earned run in five of his last six starts. Bieber is on pace to make his next start in Chicago against the White Sox next week.

Montas (shoulder) won't make his next start on normal rest, Meredith Marakovits of YES Network reports.

Montas is undergoing an MRI on his shoulder following Friday's start against Milwaukee, and the results of his examination will help determine whether he requires a trip to the injured list. Regardless of whether he lands on the IL, he'll require at least a few additional days of rest prior to making his next start. Domingo German will likely rejoin the Yankees' rotation late next week.

Montas will undergo an MRI on his shoulder, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

Montas started Friday's series opener in Milwaukee and allowed four runs on four hits and four walks while striking out two in 3.1 innings. He felt something in his shoulder after the game, but he's optimistic that he isn't dealing with a serious injury. A better idea of his status going forward will likely be revealed once the results of his MRI are known.

Cueto was scratched from his scheduled start Saturday against the Tigers due to illness, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

Cueto's absence complicates an already difficult starting pitching situation for the White Sox. Michael Kopech hit the injured list earlier Saturday with shoulder inflammation, with Davis Martin getting called up in his place. Martin will take Cueto's scheduled Saturday start, but that leaves Kopech's scheduled turn Sunday unfilled. If Cueto's illness is a minor one, it's possible he's pushed back just one day, but it's also possible he misses an entire turn in the rotation, forcing the White Sox to call up another arm or go with a bullpen game.
