Gaddis was optioned to Triple-A Columbus on Friday, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

Gaddis made his second major-league start Thursday against the Astros but gave up seven runs in four innings. He's now given up 15 runs in 7.1 innings over two appearances with the Guardians and will head back to the minors after Carlos Vargas was recalled Friday.

Lynch (4-11) took the loss against Minnesota on Thursday, allowing three runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out eight batters over five innings.

All three runs against Lynch came via the long ball, as Carlos Correa launched a solo shot in the first inning and Nick Gordon swatted a two-run homer in the second. Lynch didn't allow a run over his final three frames, but the Royals were able to provide him with only two runs of support. On a positive note, the southpaw racked up 16 swinging strikes and finished with eight punchouts -- his most since June 17. He's struggled to a 5.15 ERA this season, and the long ball has been a problem of late, as Lynch has allowed multiple homers in all three of his September starts.

Bundy did not factor in the decision against Kansas City on Thursday, pitching four innings and allowing two runs on four hits and no walks while striking out two batters.

Bundy gave up a run in the second and another in the fourth, but he finished the latter frame holding a 3-2 lead. Manager Rocco Baldelli opted not to let him go out for the fifth, preventing Bundy from qualifying for the win. The veteran hurler had thrown only 60 pitches at the time of his departure, so Baldelli may have simply been avoiding having Bundy go through the order for the third time. This was Bundy's shortest start since Aug. 6.

McClanahan (12-5) allowed three hits and one walk while striking out five across five scoreless innings to earn the win Thursday against the Blue Jays.

This marked McClanahan's first start since being placed on the injured list Aug. 31 with a left shoulder impingement. He was limited to only 69 pitches but was otherwise excellent, racking up 14 swinging strikes to shut down a strong Blue Jays lineup. The Rays will likely continue to play it safe with McClanahan's workload, but he's a good bet to turn in pristine ratios while on the mound. Across 152.1 innings this season, he has a 2.14 ERA and 187:31 K:BB.

Lynn (7-5) allowed two earned runs on six hits and a walk while striking out six across 6.1 innings to earn the win Thursday against the Guardians.

Lynn was aided by plenty of run support and got little resistance from the Cleveland offense to earn his seventh win of the season. He's now turned in five consecutive quality starts and has allowed only four earned runs across 32.1 innings in that span while posting a 38:4 K:BB. After a disastrous start to the campaign, Lynn has a 3.99 ERA in 103.2 total frames.

Gaddis (0-2) allowed seven earned runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out three across four innings to take the loss Thursday against the White Sox.

Gaddis was called up to make his second start in the majors, but he served up five homers in the disastrous appearance. He's pitched well with Triple-A Columbus this season, maintaining a 3.93 ERA with a 43:15 K:BB across 34.1 innings. However, Gaddis has now surrendered seven home runs across his first 7.1 frames in the majors. Thursday's appearance was likely just a spot start, and the results didn't help his case to stick with Cleveland in the short term.

Varland is expected to be recalled from Triple-A and start one game of Saturday's doubleheader against Cleveland, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Varland had an impressive major-league debut by allowing two runs on three hits and a walk while striking out seven in 5.1 innings at Yankee Stadium on Sept. 8. He could remain in the rotation the rest of the season with a strong outing.

Gausman (12-10) allowed five earned runs on six hits and a walk while striking out seven across seven innings to take the loss Thursday against the Rays.

Gausman allowed a pair of home runs, including a three-run shot to Yandy Diaz in the second inning. The long ball has become a significant problem for Gausman across his last four starts, during which he has served up seven home runs. In those same 25 innings, he has a 5.04 ERA, despite a 31:3 K:BB. For the season, Gausman still owns a 3.45 ERA across 159.1 frames.

Ober (groin) will be activated from the 15-day injured list to start Friday against the Guardians, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Ober has been sidelined by a strained groin since the start of June, but he's ready to rejoin Minnesota's rotation after a three-game rehab assignment. The 27-year-old has a 4.01 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 29:7 K:BB across 33.2 innings this year, and he could face some workload limitations in his first start back from the IL.

McCullers allowed two runs on two hits and four walks while striking out 11 in six innings during a 5-2 win over Oakland on Thursday. He did not factor into the decision.

McCullers navigated some wildness Thursday with just 59 of his 99 pitches going for strikes, though he was able to hold Oakland to only two hits. Both runs against him came in the fourth inning when he allowed four of the first five batters to reach safely. It was the first time he exceeded seven strikeouts in a start this season and represents his most strikeouts in a game since Game 2 of the 2020 American League Championship Series.
