The Astros recalled Alexander from Triple-A Sugar Land on Thursday.

Alexander will serve as the 27th man during Thursday's doubleheader against the Orioles. The right-hander has collected a 4.97 ERA and 20:10 K:BB over 29 innings covering six starts with Sugar Land this season. He will give the bullpen length Thursday before likely returning to the minors after the twin bill.

The Astros placed Weiss on the paternity list Thursday.

Weiss will be away from the team for 1-to-3 days while welcoming a new addition to the family. Cody Bolton (back) has been activated from the injured list and will replace Weiss on the active roster.

Severino (2-2) allowed one run on four hits and two walks while striking out eight over seven innings to earn the win over the Royals on Wednesday.

Severino was locked in, throwing 71 of 103 pitches for strikes. He gave up a run in the first inning, but he was sharp after that. He started the year with mixed results, but he's allowed just two runs over his last 13.2 innings, winning each of his last two starts. For the season, Severino has a 4.46 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 40:23 K:BB through 38.1 innings over seven starts. The 32-year-old's next outing is projected to be at Philadelphia.

Wacha (2-2) allowed four runs on eight hits and four walks while striking out five over five innings to take the loss versus the Athletics on Wednesday.

Wacha threw 64 of 105 pitches for strikes. The biggest hit against him was Lawrence Butler's three-run blast in the fourth inning. After allowing just three runs over his first four starts, Wacha's given up 10 runs across 10.1 innings over his last two outings. He's at a 3.13 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 33:14 K:BB through 37.1 innings over six starts this season. The veteran right-hander has kept his ERA under 4.00 in each of the previous four seasons, so he should be pretty close to leveling off after his unsustainable hot start to the year. He's projected to make his next start at home versus the Guardians.

Skubal allowed two runs on five hits and struck out seven without walking a batter over seven innings in a no-decision versus Atlanta on Wednesday.

Skubal gave up a two-run home run to Ozzie Albies in the first inning, but the star southpaw settled down after that. That was just the second homer Skubal's given up all season, and it's just the third time in seven starts he's been tagged for multiple runs. Detroit's ace has a 2.70 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 45:6 K:BB across 43.1 innings this season. He's lined up for a home start against the Red Sox early next week, which positions him for a potential two-start week.

Bradley came away with a no-decision in Wednesday's 5-3 loss to the Mariners, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks over seven innings. He struck out seven.

The right-hander racked up an impressive 35 called or swinging strikes among his 114 pitches (73 total strikes) en route to his fourth quality start of the season, but he left the mound with the game tied 2-2 and watched Minnesota's bullpen stumble late once again. It was Bradley's longest outing of the season, and he'll take a 2.85 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 44:15 K:BB through 41 innings into his next start, which is scheduled to come on the road early next week against the Nationals.

Kirby didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Twins, allowing two runs on eight hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out five.

The right-hander got the hook after 97 pitches (64 strikes), just shy of his fifth quality start of the season, but Kirby was headed for his third loss until the Mariners rallied late. Kirby will take a 3.00 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 34:11 K:BB through 45 innings into his next outing, which is set to come at home early next week against Atlanta.

Lauer did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Red Sox, allowing a run on five hits and a walk across 4.1 innings. He struck out one.

While the veteran left-hander didn't qualify for the win, he was solid in his fifth start of the year, limiting Boston to a lone run on Willson Contreras' first-inning homer. Lauer, who sports a 6.00 ERA with a 1.52 WHIP across 27 innings this season, will likely return to the bullpen, as Jose Berrios (elbow) is expected to rejoin Toronto's rotation next week.

Fedde didn't factor into the decision Wednesday in an extra-inning win over the Angels, allowing two runs on five hits over seven innings. He struck out six without walking a batter.

The veteran right-hander put together his longest outing of the season, tossing 65 of 103 pitches for strikes en route to his second quality start, Despite that strong showing, Fedde left the mound staring at a 2-1 deficit after serving up solo shots to Mike Trout in the third inning and Vaughn Grissom in the seventh. The White Sox were able to rally against a patchwork Halos bullpen, however, preventing Fedde's record from falling to an undeserved 0-4. The 33-year-old will take a 3.24 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 22:11 K:BB through 33.1 innings into his next start, which lines up to come on the road early next week in a rematch with the Angels.

Bello (1-4) took the loss Wednesday against the Blue Jays, allowing four runs on six hits and two walks over 3.2 innings. He struck out two.

It was another rough outing for Bello, who's now dropped three straight starts, allowing 16 runs in just 11 innings during that span. Bello's ERA now sits at an ugly 9.12 with a 2.26 WHIP and 17:15 K:BB across six starts (25.2 innings). Given the recent injuries to Garrett Crochet (shoulder) and Sonny Gray (hamstring), Bello seems likely to stick in the rotation for the time being despite the struggles. His next outing is tentatively scheduled to come on the road next week against Detroit.
