Gray (7-4) took the loss Monday, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk over six innings against the Rangers. He struck out six.

The veteran was effective Monday but could not earn the win as the Twins only mustered one run behind him on the night. Gray has now thrown five or more innings with two or fewer runs allowed in five of his last six starts and owns a strong 3.10 ERA and 1.12 WHIP on the season, both his best since 2019. He will look to get back in the win column in his next scheduled start, which is lined up to be against the White Sox this weekend.

Ragans did not factor into the decision Monday, allowing one run on five hits and two walks over four innings against the Twins. He struck out two.

The Rangers' rookie made it through four innings with only one run allowed despite failing to record a clean inning. His seven combined hits and walks allowed increased his WHIP to 1.53 over four starts this season, which is out of step with his 1.07 WHIP in 43.1 innings at Triple-A. Ragans will be hard to trust until he can start missing bats more often. He will take a 4.42 ERA into his next start.

Springs (6-3) earned the win Monday, allowing one run on five hits and three walks over 5.2 innings in a 2-1 victory over the Angels. He struck out seven.

Springs was effective again Monday, as he now has four straight starts of five or more innings and two or fewer runs allowed. He also struck out more than a batter per inning for the second time in his last three starts. Monday's three walks was the first time that he walked more than two batters in an outing since May 21, so it is reasonable to believe the relative lack of command was an outlier. He will carry a 2.46 ERA and 1.08 WHIP into his next start.

Lynch yielded three runs on seven hits and four walks over 4.2 frames against the White Sox on Monday. He failed to record a strikeout and did not factor in the decision.

Lynch worked through three shutout frames before the White Sox broke through with three runs in the fourth inning. The Royals would go on to win the game but the 25-year-old southpaw is still looking for his first win since Aug. 1. Lynch has given up three or fewer earned runs in eight of his last nine starts, registering a 3.25 ERA during that stretch. He'll carry a 4.58 ERA into his projected home matchup with the Padres this weekend.

German (2-2) secured the win after allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits while striking out three over 6.1 innings Monday against the Mets. He was struck in the right calf by a comebacker in the fourth inning and remained in the game, but he was spotted limping in the clubhouse after the victory, Marly Rivera of ESPN.com reports.

German stated after the game that he was already feeling a bit sore, but that he expects to feel better soon. He pitched well in the series opener, with his only earned run allowed coming on a Daniel Vogelbach homer in the top of the seventh. The team will likely re-evalute the right-hander over the next few days to determine if German can make his next scheduled start, which tentatively lines up for Sunday in Oakland.

Maeda (elbow) is expected to face hitters in live batting practice sessions beginning next Monday, MLB.com reports.

Maeda has been throwing bullpen sessions for the past few weeks, with his fastball typically sitting around 87-to-90 miles per hour in those workouts. He's also incorporating his other pitches into those sessions and looks like he'll be ready to take the next step forward in his throwing progression early next week. Maeda underwent a Tommy John surgery Sept. 1 of last year that involved the insertion of an internal brace to his elbow, a modification that he believes will reduce the recovery timeline typically associated with the procedure. If he's able to make it back in September as he hopes, Maeda will likely be used out of the bullpen.

Ober (groin) was scheduled to face hitters in a live batting practice session Monday, MLB.com reports.

The live session represents a step forward in the rehab process for Ober, who has been throwing full-effort bullpen sessions featuring all of his pitches over the past couple of weeks. The Twins remain optimistic that Ober will be able to return from the 60-day injured list at some point in September, but it's unclear if he'll have enough time to properly build up for a starting role with the big club. Given that he's been sidelined since June 1 with the right groin strain, Ober will likely need to make multiple minor-league rehab appearances prior to being activated.

Kopech was removed from Monday's start against the Royals due to a hamstring injury, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

The White Sox initially announced that Kopech was dealing with a knee injury after he departed Monday's start, but manager Tony La Russa clarified after the game that the right-hander is dealing with a hamstring issue. Kopech will presumably be monitored further in the coming days before the White Sox determine whether he's able to make his next start, which tentatively lines up for Saturday at home against the Diamondbacks.

Rodriguez (lat) will face hitters this week, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Rodriguez threw 25 pitches off a mound two weeks ago, and he'll ramp up his workload this week as he continues to recover from a right lat strain. He's slated to throw a bullpen, live batting practice and a simulated game this week, and it seems likely that he'll be able to return from Triple-A Norfolk's 60-day injured list sometime in September.

Schmidt was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Monday, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports.

Schmidt was sent down to Triple-A earlier this month but will rejoin the major-league club following a three-week stint in the minors. Although the right-hander has operated exclusively as a starter at the Triple-A level this year, he'll likely serve as a multi-inning relief option once again in the big leagues after Scott Effross (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day injured list Monday.
