Schmidt picked up the save in Sunday's 6-0 victory over the Orioles, allowing no runs on two hits while striking out three and walking two over three innings.

Schmidt saw his first action for the Yankees since June 22. It comes after the Yankees lost multi-inning reliever Michael King to an elbow injury. Schmidt took on a similar role to King in Sunday's contest, earning a nine-out save. He threw 36 of 56 pitches for strikes, and while he allowed two hits and two walks, Schmidt was able to keep the O's off the board. It was his first save of the year. The righty reliever will take a 2.67 ERA into his next appearance.

Cortes (8-3) earned the win against the Orioles on Sunday, allowing no runs on six hits while striking out seven and walking none over six innings.

Cortes' command was impressive in Sunday's contest. The lefty threw 64 of 94 pitches for strikes in the game, tallying seven strikeouts and no walks. He was able to strand all of the Baltimore baserunners for his fifth game of the season without allowing an earned run. This was Cortes' first win since July 2, but his third quality start since then. It was also the fourth time since June 2 that he lasted at least six innings. Cortes will take a 2.48 ERA into his next appearance.

Bradish (shoulder) made his third rehab start Sunday at Triple-A Norfolk, striking out six over 4.2 innings while allowing two earned runs on four hits and one walk.

Bradish tossed 80 pitches (49 strikes) in his latest outing with Norfolk and should be stretched out enough to make his next start with Baltimore, though it's unclear if he'll be welcomed back into the rotation. Before being placed on the 15-day injured list June 24 with right shoulder inflammation, Bradish compiled a 7.38 ERA, 1.77 WHIP and 46:18 K:BB across 46.1 innings. Both Austin Voth and Spenser Watkins have recently found success at the back end of the rotation, and if the two are able to deliver respectable showings Monday and Tuesday versus the Rays, respectively, the Orioles could choose to option Bradish at Norfolk upon activating him from the IL.

German is scheduled to start Wednesday's road game against the Mets.

German will receive a second turn through the rotation despite struggling mightily in his season debut last Thursday as he made his return from the 60-day injured list due to a shoulder issue that had sidelined him since the spring. In a tough road matchup with a potent Houston lineup, German lasted just three innings and gave up five earned runs on six hits and a walk. While Luis Severino (lat) is facing an uncertain timeline for a return, German looks like he'll get at least a few turns as the Yankees' No. 5 starter, but manager Aaron Boone may not hesitate to go in a different direction if German isn't able to right the ship soon. Prospect JP Sears looms as a viable alternative to German in the rotation, and the Yankees could also look to acquire a starting pitcher prior to the Aug. 2 trade deadline if a long-term absence is in the forecast for Severino.

Bieber (4-6) allowed six runs on eight hits and a walk over six innings Sunday, striking out four and taking a loss against the White Sox.

All six runs against Bieber came via the long ball; he coughed up homers to Leury Garcia and AJ Pollock in the second inning before serving up a solo shot to Eloy Jimenez in the sixth. It was the second time in his last three starts in which he yielded five or more runs, bumping his season ERA from 3.16 to 3.55 during that span. Bieber is lined up to start in Tampa Bay next week.

Cease (10-4) allowed seven hits and a walk over six scoreless innings Sunday, striking out four and earning a win over the Guardians.

Despite putting eight runners on base, Cease turned in his third straight scoreless appearance. He's allowed one or fewer earned runs in eight consecutive starts, posting a terrific 0.57 ERA and 65:16 K:BB during that stretch. He lowered his season ERA to 2.03 through 110.2 frames. Cease is lined up to face the Athletics at home next weekend.

Detmers (3-3) allowed three hits and two walks while striking out six in five scoreless innings to earn the win over Atlanta on Sunday.

Detmers was unable to record a third consecutive quality start Sunday since he required 90 pitches to get through five innings, but he still had a strong performance to earn his first win since May 10. The southpaw has been effective over three starts this month, posting a 1.06 ERA and 0.94 WHIP in 17 innings. He tentatively lines up to make his next start at home against the Rangers on Saturday.

Perez (10-2) allowed one run on four hits and three walks over seven innings Sunday, striking out six and earning a win over Oakland.

Perez fired four scoreless innings before the Athletics broke through with an RBI groundout by Nick Allen in the fifth. After taking a loss in each of his first two appearances of the year, the veteran southpaw is 8-0 with a 2.29 ERA across his subsequent 17 starts. He's allowed two runs despite issuing seven walks over his last 12 frames. Perez will carry a 2.59 ERA into his projected road outing against the Angels next week.

Blackburn (6-6) allowed 10 runs on 10 hits and two walks over 4.1 innings Sunday, striking out five and taking a loss against the Rangers.

Blackburn allowed four runs through the first four frames of Sunday's game, including three during the first inning. Things got worse from there as he gave up four runs in the fifth and was charged with two more while David McKay was on the mound. Blackburn posted a 2.26 ERA through his first 13 starts of the year, but over his last six outings, he's 0-4 with a brutal 9.40 ERA. The 28-year-old righty will look to turn things around on the road against the White Sox next week.

Bubic (2-6) allowed two runs on four hits and three walks over seven innings Sunday, striking out four and earning a win over the Rays.

Bubic served up a solo homer to Yandy Diaz in the third inning and an RBI sacrifice fly to Luke Raley in the sixth. The 24-year-old was 0-2 with a 3.95 ERA in five starts since his last win June 20. On the year, Bubic is sporting a 5.53 ERA with a 55:37 K:BB through 16 appearances (15 starts). He's expected to face the Yankees on the road next week.
