Paxton (forearm) was sore following his throwing session Wednesday and will be shut down several days as a result, Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News reports.

Paxton still hasn't thrown off a mound as he continues to work his way back from a flexor injury that he sustained in late August. With just over two weeks remaining in the regular season, time is running out for Paxton to return to game action following his setback. Even if he is able to return during the regular season, he likely won't be able to pitch many innings, which significantly limits his fantasy value.

Cobb (undisclosed) will start Friday's game against the Yankees, Steve Melewski of MASNSports.com reports.

Cobb was placed on the injured list for an undisclosed reason Sept. 4, but manager Brandon Hyde said that Cobb will take the mound Friday if he clears intake protocols. The right-hander has struggled a bit over his last three starts, recording a 6.32 ERA and 1.66 WHIP over 15.2 innings during that time.

The best-case scenario is for Verlander (forearm) to return at the end of the month, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

While that return timeline would be useful for the Astros in the postseason, it does nothing for those who are rostering him in fantasy leagues. The season ends Sept. 27, so the best-case scenario for fantasy would be Verlander starting a game in that final weekend series in Texas.

Keuchel was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday with back spasms, retroactive to Sept. 7.

He can return Sept. 17 against the Twins if he requires the minimum stay. Reynaldo Lopez was recalled to presumably take Keuchel's spot in the rotation.

Teheran (0-3) allowed five earned runs on six hits and one walk while striking out four across 4.2 innings to take the loss Wednesday against the Rangers.

Teheran allowed just one earned run through four innings but imploded in his final frame. After getting the first out, he allowed four consecutive batters to reach base. The Angels bullpen also didn't help Teheran's cause, as he exited with runners on first and second, both of whom were allowed to score. Overall, Teheran has a disastrous 8.23 ERA with a 17:11K:BB across 27.1 innings. He'll look to get on track in his next outing, currently projected to come Tuesday against Arizona.

Garcia allowed a hit and two walks over five scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the Athletics on Wednesday. He struck out four.

Garcia's first major-league start can be considered mostly successful -- it was the Astros' bullpen that denied him the win Wednesday. He's allowed just one run, two hits and five walks over his first 9.1 innings. Garcia will likely get another turn in the rotation, which is expected to be next Wednesday versus the Rangers.

Luzardo allowed two runs on four hits and a walk while striking out seven in seven innings Wednesday versus the Astros. He did not factor in the decision.

Luzardo gave up solo shots to George Springer in the first inning and Yuli Gurriel in the sixth to account for the scoring against him. Wednesday was the third time in Luzardo's last four starts that he's posted a quality start. The 22-year-old southpaw has a 3.97 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 45:14 K:BB across 45.1 innings this season. Luzardo is expected to face the Mariners on Monday in one game of their doubleheader.

Dunning (1-0) tossed six innings of scoreless baseball, allowing just three hits during the White Sox' 8-1 victory over the Pirates on Wednesday. He walked one and struck out three.

Making his fourth start of the season, Dunning lasted beyond five innings for the first time and picked up his first career win. He will carry a 2.70 ERA with 21 strikeouts into his next scheduled start against the Twins in a week. He is likely worth a roster spot in most formats.

Carrasco (2-4) took the loss Wednesday against the Royals after allowing one run on seven hits with six strikeouts and zero walks over seven innings.

Kansas City was able to scratch across one run on seven singles, but it was enough to saddle the right-hander with the loss since Cleveland's offense was silent. Carrasco has surrendered only two runs with a 19:5 K:BB across his past 19 innings and will look to keep things rolling next week against the Cubs.

Javier won't start during the two-game series against the Dodgers this weekend, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

The Astros will opt to readjust their starting rotation thanks to Friday's scheduled off day, putting Framber Valdez and Zack Greinke on the mound in Los Angeles. Javier has a 3.38 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 37:16 K:BB through 42.2 innings and should receive his next start sometime next week.
