Anderson (oblique) allowed one run on a hit and two walks while striking out one in three innings versus the Red Sox on Saturday. He did not factor in the decision.

Anderson missed a couple of weeks with an oblique strain, but he pitched fairly well in a short debut. His only run came on a Christian Vazquez single. Anderson threw 26 of his 45 pitches for strikes. The 32-year-old pitched to a 4.21 ERA and 1.27 WHIP with 124 strikeouts in 139 innings last season with the Brewers. Anderson may still need a few weeks to get to a starter's workload. His next appearance is scheduled for next Saturday versus the Rays.

Sandoval (0-1) took the loss Saturday, giving up two runs on four hits and a walk over six innings as the Angels fell 2-0 to the Rangers. He struck out four.

The southpaw really only made one mistake in his return to the rotation, but mistakes to Joey Gallo tend to wind up in the seats, and this one was no exception. Sandoval threw 94 pitches (58 strikes) in the quality start, and he should be able to avoid another trip back to the Angels' alternate training site after this performance. He'll hope for some more run support in his next outing, a home tilt against the Dodgers on Friday.

Glasnow (0-1) took the loss in the first half of Saturday's doubleheader against the Yankees, allowing four runs on five hits in just 2.2 innings of work, striking out five while walking three.

Glasnow has failed to pitch long enough to earn a win in any of his three outings this season, though this time that was due to poor performance rather than by design. He matched Gerrit Cole with a pair of scoreless innings to start the game, getting out of a bases-loaded jam in the second, but he allowed a two-run homer to Mike Ford and a two-run double to Gio Urshela in the third, forcing him out of the game. He now owns a 5.56 ERA through his first three starts, with his 37.3 percent strikeout rate being offset by 15.7 percent walk rate and a 30.0 percent HR/FB rate.

Valdez (0-2) took the loss Saturday in Oakland after giving up two runs (one earned) on seven hits across seven innings. He had nine strikeouts and one walk.

The left-hander surrendered a leadoff homer to Marcus Semien on his sixth pitch of the game, but it would be the only earned run he allowed all afternoon. Valdez allowed three runs over 4.1 innings during his season debut, but over his past two starts he's given up only three runs (one earned) with 17 strikeouts across 13.1 innings. The 26-year-old next lines up to pitch Friday against the Mariners.

Montas (2-1) earned the win Saturday against the Astros after allowing only two hits over seven shutout innings. He recorded five strikeouts and did not issue a walk.

Yuli Gurriel hit a one-out double during the second inning, but that was the only time a baserunner reached second base with Montas on the mound. The 27-year-old is off to a fantastic start in 2020 with a 1.57 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 22:9 K:BB over 23 innings (four starts). Montas will look to keep things rolling his next time out Friday in San Francisco.

Cole struck out 10 batters and walked just one in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Rays but allowed three runs on six hits in 4.2 innings and therefore wasn't eligible to pick up the win.

Cole cruised through the first four innings before running into trouble in the fifth, allowing an RBI double to Ji-Man Choi before giving up a two-run homer to Jose Martinez. He has a strong 29.5 percent strikeout rate through his first four starts this season, though that's over 10 percentage points below his incredible 39.9 percent mark from last season. His 3.22 ERA is also quite difficult to complain about, though it's well above his 2.50 mark from 2019.

Hill (shoulder) could be available for next weekend's series against the Royals, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

The veteran southpaw resumed throwing Friday and is expected to throw a bullpen session during the upcoming three-game series in Milwaukee, which begins Monday. Hill landed on the injured list with shoulder fatigue and mid-back soreness last Monday, but it appears he may not be spending too much time on the shelf.

Sandoval was recalled by the Angels ahead of his scheduled start Saturday, Maria Torres of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Sandoval has stayed stretched out at the team's alternate training site over the past week, and he'll rejoin the major-league club to make his second start of the season Saturday against the Rangers. Reliever Luke Bard was optioned to alternate camp to make room for Sandoval. The southpaw allowed two runs (one earned) while striking out four over four innings in his first start this year.

Anderson (oblique) was activated from the 10-day injured list Saturday.

Anderson will make his season debut against the Red Sox on Saturday after he was sidelined with an oblique strain to begin the regular season. The right-hander still hasn't built up to a full workload, so he isn't expected to throw more than three innings during his first outing. Outfielder Billy McKinney was optioned to the taxi squad to make room on the active roster.

Means (bereavement) won't start Sunday's game against the Nationals, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

The traditional timeline for spending time on the bereavement list is three days, which would have put Means on track to return Sunday. However, manager Brandon Hyde announced that Asher Wojciechowski will start on short rest for Sunday's series finale against the Nationals. It's unclear when Means will return from the bereavement list, but his next chance to start would be on the road Tuesday against the Phillies.
