Preliminary scans on Rodon's shoulder came back clean, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Rodon landed on the injured list earlier in the week after experiencing shoulder soreness during his second start of the season. Fortunately, it doesn't sound like the right-hander is dealing with anything more than soreness; according to general manager Rick Hahn, Rodon could be back with the team in a matter of a few weeks. The White Sox have not yet announced who will replace Rodon in the rotation for the time being.

Bielak is scheduled to start Thursday against the Diamondbacks, Jake Kaplan of The Athletic reports.

Bielak has made a pair of appearances out of the bullpen this season, allowing one run while posting a 6:3 K:BB across 5.1 innings. Seeing as the right-hander isn't fully stretched out, he likely won't pitch long enough to qualify for the win. It remains to be seen whether Bielak will stick in the rotation beyond Thursday's spot start.

Greinke is scheduled to make his next start Friday against the Athletics, Jake Kaplan of The Athletic reports.

Greinke was originally scheduled to pitch Thursday's series finale against the Diamondbacks, but he'll get an extra day of rest while Brandon Bielak takes the mound. The veteran right-hander has allowed five runs through nine innings (two starts) this season.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Montgomery will make his next start Thursday against the Phillies, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

After capturing the win in his season debut July 31 against the Red Sox, Montgomery would have been available to start Wednesday in one of the Yankees' two doubleheader contests, but Boone opted to give the southpaw an extra day of rest. Instead, J.A. Happ will start the first game of the twin bill, while the Yankees are expected to treat the second contest as a bullpen day.

Means was placed on the bereavement list Wednesday.

Players traditionally spend three days on the bereavement list, though it's possible pandemic-related protocols extend Means' absence slightly. Means pitched Tuesday against the Marlins and lines up to pitch Sunday against the Nationals, though the Orioles have yet to announce their rotation plans for the weekend.

Snell is hoping to pitch 4-to-5 innings Friday against the Yankees, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.

Snell has pitched just five innings through two starts this season as the Rays slowly extend his workload, but after pitching into the fourth inning during his last outing, it sounds like the lefty could pitch long enough to qualify for his first win Friday. Through two appearances, Snell has allowed three runs while striking out nine batters in five innings.

Heaney (1-0) earned the win Tuesday against the Mariners. He gave up one run on three hits and four walks while fanning three across 5.2 innings.

Heaney came just one out away from posting what would've been his first quality start of the season, but he is yet to give up more than two runs in any of his first three outings. His next start is slated for Aug. 9 on the road against the Rangers.

Dunn (0-1) was tagged with the loss Tuesday against the Angels after allowing three runs on three hits and four walks across four innings. He struck out four.

Dunn gave up two homers in the first inning -- a solo shot to Mike Trout and a two-run blast to Albert Pujols -- and that would set the tone for the rest of his outing. He has now given up five earned runs on four hits in seven innings across two starts this season, although three of those hits have left the ballpark. His next start is scheduled for Aug. 10 at Texas.

Whitley (arm) will be seen by a doctor before the Astros map out their next move, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Whitley was shut down last week with arm soreness, and the Astros want to take a measured approach with their top pitching prospect. The right-hander has dealt with injuries since 2018.

Javier (1-0) allowed one run on four hits and one walk while striking out two to earn his first win in Tuesday's 8-2 victory over Arizona.

Javier was good enough for a second straight start after he held the Dodgers' potent offense in check in his first start. He didn't have his best stuff Tuesday, but he had the composure to work through it. The right-hander also had Houston's potent offense behind him, which can help a young pitcher like Javier, who has taken over Justin Verlander's spot in the rotation. He's next scheduled to take the mound Sunday on the road against Oakland.
