Montas did not factor into the decision during Friday's win over the Angels, allowing one run on three hits and three walks while striking out five across four innings.

Making his first Opening Day start, Montas stayed strong until the fourth inning. After issuing back-to-back walks, the 27-year-old gave up his first run of the game via an RBI single to Brian Goodwin. Despite an 80-game suspension last season, the right-hander had a breakout campaign during which he went 9-2 with a career-best 2.63 ERA and 1.11 WHIP across 16 starts.

Teheran (illness) threw a two-inning simulated game Friday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Teheran continues to work his way back into shape after falling ill with coronavirus symptoms in late June. The right-hander missed nearly all of summer camp and remains on the injured list while he builds his arm back up. It's a positive sign that Teheran is back on the mound, but he's likely at least a week away from being ready to join the Angels' rotation.

Heaney took a no-decision during Friday's loss despite holding the A's to one run on two hits while striking out six across 4.2 innings.

Aside from giving up a solo home run to Ramon Laureano in the fourth inning, Heaney kept Oakland's bats relatively quiet as he made his first career Opening Day start. The southpaw had been dealing with some back tightness Saturday but seems to be doing just fine. Heaney posted a 4.91 ERA and 1.29 WHIP across 95.1 innings last season, striking out 118 batters while ceding 20 homers.

Lynn (1-0) earned the win during Friday's 1-0 victory over the Rockies. He tossed six scoreless innings, allowing two hits and four walks while fanning nine.

Lynn looked impressive in his season debut and while the four walks might be a concern, he is coming off a 2019 season in which he posted a 2.5 BB/9 and a 10.6 K/9 -- both were career-best marks. The 33-year-old right-hander will aim to build off his impressive debut in his next scheduled start when he faces the Diamondbacks on July 29 at home.

Hill (undisclosed) is doing well and is scheduled to start Wednesday against the Cardinals, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Hill was scratched from Saturday's start for an undisclosed reason, but manager Rocco Baldelli said Friday that the move was made to give the 40-year-old a few extra days of rest. The Twins initially planned to start Hill in the fifth game, and Baldelli determined that it was best to keep him on the team's initial schedule rather than rushing him out for the second game of the year. Hill recorded a 2.45 ERA and 1.13 WHIP over 13 starts with the Dodgers as he battled various injuries.

Giolito (0-1) took the loss against Minnesota on Friday after being lit up for seven runs on six hits and three walks over 3.2 innings. He struck out three.

Giolito's first start following his breakout 2019 campaign was a struggle from the get-go as he gave up a solo home run to Max Kepler leading off the game and found himself down 4-0 after the first inning. Kepler torched him for another homer in the following frame, and Giolito was charged with two more runs after loading the bases in the fourth and watching a pair of those baserunners cross the plate following his departure. The right-hander got off to a slow start last season and eventually found his way, but he won't have the same leeway in the abbreviated 2020 campaign. Giolito will try to right the ship when he heads to Cleveland to take on the Indians on Wednesday in his next scheduled start.

Gonzales (0-1) surrendered four runs (three earned) on five hits and a walk in 4.1 innings. He struck out two in a loss to the Astros on Friday.

Gonzales allowed an RBI single to Martin Maldonado in the third inning before the wheels came off completely in the fifth for the southpaw. The 28-year-old Gonzales has collected 29 wins in 63 starts over the last two seasons. He'll look for his first victory of 2020 when he faces the Angels on the road Thursday.

Berrios did not factor into the decision against the White Sox on Friday, throwing four innings and allowing five runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out one.

Berrios had no issue getting the ball over the plate -- 52 of his 75 pitches were strikes -- but he struggled deceiving Chicago hitters, registering only one strikeout while giving up three extra-base hits in his four innings of work. Yoan Moncada was responsible for much of the damage, setting up Chicago's first run with a double in the first inning and torching Berrios for a three-run homer in the following frame. The consolation for Berrios is that opposing starter Lucas Giolito was knocked around even more frequently, allowing Minnesota to emerge with the win and Berrios to walk away with a no-decision. The right-hander will look for a more effective outing when he faces off against St. Louis on Wednesday in his next scheduled start.

Verlander (1-0) struck out seven and allowed two runs on three hits and a walk over six innings while earning the win Friday versus the Mariners.

The reigning AL Cy Young winner allowed solo home runs to Kyle Lewis and Kyle Seager but was able to prevent any additional damage. Verlander looks capable of maintaining his ace status for the Astros in 2020. His next turn on the hill comes Wednesday at home versus the Dodgers.

Morton (0-1) allowed six runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out four over four innings as he was charged with the loss Friday against the Blue Jays.

Morton had built up to just 51 pitches in his final tuneup, and although he threw 80 pitches in his Opening Day start, he struggled late in the outing. After firing three scoreless innings, the right-hander allowed three runs in the fourth and fifth innings prior to his removal. While his season didn't go as planned, the 36-year-old will look to build on a 2019 season in which he put up a career-best 3.05 ERA and 240 strikeouts over 194.2 innings across 33 starts with the Rays. Morton will look to bounce back on the road Wednesday against the Braves.
