General manager Erik Neander said Snell (elbow) remains on track to get a few outings in September, Josh Tolentino of The Athletic reports. "He's moving in the direction of coming back and being able to contribute," Neander said. "His progression to this point is everything you expect to see."

Those who have been stashing Snell have been doing so with the idea of getting two or three starts out of the Rays' ace before the season wraps up, and that still seems like a possibility. He threw another bullpen session Wednesday. While Snell is on track to return this month, it's possible that his first outing or two may be an abbreviated appearance.

Montgomery (shoulder) hurled three innings for Double-A Trenton on Wednesday, giving up two runs on five hits while striking out five.

Montgomery upped his pitch count to 44 -- 34 of which were strikes -- after tossing 35 pitches in his previous outing. The 26-year-old has now made three minor-league rehab starts, allowing a total of three runs (two earned) in 6.2 innings while striking out 10 batters. He remains on track for a possible return to the Yankees in the coming weeks.

Sandoval (0-2) gave up one run on one hit and one walk while striking out three through 3.1 innings to take the loss against the Athletics on Wednesday.

Sandoval was effective, only allowing a solo home run and a walk through 3.1 innings before being pulled after 52 pitches. The Angels plan to limit Sandoval's pitch count for the rest of the month, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. The 22-year-old has a 4.91 ERA with a 30:11 K:BB through five starts this season. Sandoval is scheduled to make his next start Monday against the Indians at Angel Stadium of Anaheim.

Severino (lat) will pitch for Double-A Trenton on Friday, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports.

Severino was originally scheduled to make another rehab appearance with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, but with inclement weather forcing a change to the scheduling of its playoff series he will instead head to Trenton. The 25-year-old gave up a pair of runs in one inning during his first rehab appearance Sunday. Should all go well in his second outing, he could return to the Yankees in the coming week.

Suarez will work behind an opener Thursday against the Athletics, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Suarez worked as a traditional starter in each of his last two outings, but he gave up seven runs on 11 hits over 9.2 innings. Luke Bard will cover the first inning or two before turning things over to the young left-hander Thursday. Suarez has mostly struggled during his rookie season with a 6.71 ERA and 1.65 WHIP through 63 frames.

Berrios (11-8) allowed six earned runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out six across five innings to take the loss Tuesday against the Twins.

Berrios had his start ruined by Mookie Betts, who accounted for four of his earned runs on two homers -- both of which came within the first two frames. Berrios did settle in from there, holding the Red Sox scoreless until the sixth frame. After pacing toward a sub-3.00 ERA through July, he has allowed at least three earned runs in five consecutive outings, including blowup performances of nine, five and six earned runs in that span. That has inflated his season-long ERA to 3.78, nearly a run higher than his 2.80 mark on July 31. Berrios will look to get back on track in his next appearance, currently scheduled for Tuesday against Washington.

Rodriguez (17-5) allowed five hits and four walks while striking out eight across seven shutout innings to earn the win Wednesday against the Twins.

Rodriguez showcased his swing-and-miss stuff, generating 22 swinging strikes to back up his eight punchouts. Though he struggled with his control, Rodriguez was able to escape every jam he found himself in -- particularly in the fourth inning when he stranded the bases loaded. After struggling his way to a 4.65 ERA in 18 starts prior to the All-Star break, Rodriguez has earned a 2.57 ERA in 10 outings since. Overall, he owns a 3.81 ERA and 1.36 WHIP with 17 wins and 168 strikeouts across 172.2 innings. His next start is currently scheduled for Monday against the Yankees.

Bieber (13-7) allowed two earned runs on six hits and two walks while striking out nine across seven innings to earn the win Wednesday against the White Sox.

Bieber allowed both of his earned runs in the second inning after allowing the first two batters he faced to reach base. However, he dominated the White Sox from there, turning in his ninth consecutive start of six frames or more -- allowing more than two earned runs only once in that span. As a result, Bieber has maintained a sparkling 1.01 WHIP and strong 3.24 ERA while also racking up 233 punchouts across 188.2 innings. He's slated make his next start Monday at the Angels.

Gilbert reached his innings limit for 2019 and will be shut down rather than pitching in the Texas League playoffs, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Gilbert reached his innings limit of 135 innings after his last start, but the Mariners still planned to let him pitch in the playoffs. He struggled in that start and the subsequent bullpen session, causing the organization go with the original plan. The 22-year-old was promoted to Double-A in mid-July and had a 2.88 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 56:25 K:BB over 50 innings with Arkansas.

Lynn (14-10) took the loss Wednesday as the Rangers fell 4-1 to the Yankees, allowing three runs on five hits and three walks over five innings while striking out seven.

Aaron Judge and Gleyber Torres both took the right-hander deep, the first time since July 21 that Lynn has served up multiple homers. He'll carry a 3.81 ERA and 209:53 K:BB through 181.2 innings into his next start Tuesday, at home against the Rays.
