  • Domingo German SP | PIT

Yankees' Domingo German: Set for return Wednesday

German (hip) is expected to rejoin the Yankees' starting rotation Wednesday against the Mets, Mark Fischer of the New York Post reports.

German pitched in a rehab game with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday, allowing four runs on four hits over four innings, including two homers. Still, the 26-year-old was fairly sharp overall and delivered 41 of his 65 pitches for strikes. German had a 2.60 ERA and 0.98 WHIP through his first 10 starts of the year, but he gave up 14 runs over his last three starts while laboring through the hip strain before landing on the injured list June 9.

  • Angels' Griffin Canning: Fans six in win

Canning (3-4) picked up the win Thursday after holding the A's to two runs on three hits and a walk while striking out six over six innings.

Of the trio of hits Canning allowed, two were solo home runs accounting for the only significant damage of the night. The 23-year-old had allowed 13 runs in 23.1 innings over his last four starts, so it was reassuring to see him breeze past a solid A's lineup. Of course, it helped having his offense at full strength for the first time this season, as all nine starters recorded hits and provided generous run support. Canning has proven himself as a reliable starter for the Angels, lasting six innings in five of his last six starts. The right-hander will carry a 3.79 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 63:14 K:BB into Tuesday showdown at the Rangers.

  • Martin Perez SP | ATL

Twins' Martin Perez: Seven strong innings

Perez allowed two earned runs on three hits and a walk while striking out six across seven innings Thursday against the Rays. He did not factor into the decision.

Perez turned in his longest start since May 6 but didn't get enough run support to be rewarded with the win. His only trouble came in the second inning when he allowed a leadoff walk to score on a two-out double. It was a solid bounce-back effort for Perez, as he entered Thursday's contest having allowing 12 earned runs across his last 16.2 innings. He'll look to regain his early-season form in his next start, currently scheduled for Wednesday at Oakland.

  • Yonny Chirinos SP | MIA

Rays' Yonny Chirinos: Confirmed as Friday's starter

Chirinos will start Friday against the Rays, Josh Tolentino of The Athletic reports.

Chrinos was the expected starter for Friday's opening contest of the team's three game set against the Rangers, though that news is now confirmed. He's worked at least six innings in each of his last four starts, allowing no more than three earned runs in any of them.

  • Tigers' Spencer Turnbull: Dealing with shoulder fatigue

Turnbull was removed from Thursday's game against the Rangers due to right shoulder fatigue, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports. Prior to exiting, Turnbull (3-8) allowed one run on one hit and one walk across two innings, striking out three while taking the loss.

Turnbull said he didn't feel any pain during the outing, but the Tigers decided to remove him after noticing his fastball velocity was down. The right-hander promptly underwent an MRI, which cleared him of any structural damage. Turnbull will be reevaluated Friday, at which point his status for his next start -- which is scheduled to come on the road against the White Sox next week -- should clear up. It's worth noting that manager Ron Gardenhire didn't rule out a trip to the injured list, per Stavenhagen.

  • Jose Berrios SP | TOR

Twins' Jose Berrios: On track to start Friday

Berrios (finger) is listed as the Twins' probable pitcher for Friday's game against the White Sox, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Berrios was removed early in his most recent start June 22 against the Royals due to a blister on his right ring finger, but his inclusion in the Twins' pitching schedule for the series in Chicago implies he was able to throw without any discomfort earlier this week. Since he'll also be returning to action on five days' rest rather than his normal four, Berrios isn't expected to face any strict limitations with his pitch count.

  • James Paxton SP | BOS

Yankees' James Paxton: Yields six runs in no-decision

Paxton allowed six runs on eight hits with four walks and three strikeouts across 4.1 innings during an no-decision against the Blue Jays on Wednesday.

The Yankees offense went deep again, but Paxton yielded three long balls as well. Two of his four walks came around to score on those homers. This is the second time in the last four starts that Paxton has yielded six runs. Despite the recent struggles, the southpaw is 5-3 with a 4.34 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 81 strikeouts in 64.1 innings this season. He will look to get back on track at the Rays next Thursday.

  • Chris Sale SP | ATL

Red Sox's Chris Sale: Strikes out 10 in no-decision

Sale struck out 10 but allowed five runs on six hits with one walk across six innings during a no-decision against the White Sox on Wednesday.

The 30-year-old continues to rack up the strikeouts, but wins have been harder to come by. While he owns 60 strikeouts in his last six starts, Sale has gone just 2-1 during that stretch. His ERA has improved in the last six outings, but it's still greater than his preseason expectations. Sale is 3-7 with a 3.82 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 148 strikeouts in 101.1 innings this season. He will make his next start at the Blue Jays on Thursday.

  • Twins' Jake Odorizzi: Fans seven in no-decision

Odorizzi did not factor into the decision during Wednesday's win over the Rays, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out seven over 5.1 innings.

Odorizzi had no problem finding the strike zone against his former club, but he did lose command earlier than expected in the sixth inning. A hard-hit groundout, a home run and a walk chased Odorizzi off the mound after he threw 91 pitches. Overall, two homers accounted for all three of his runs allowed. With 10 wins on the season, the 29-year-old remains tied for the AL lead with Justin Verlander and Lucas Giolito. Odorizzi will take a 2.73 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 94:27 K:BB into a showdown Tuesday with Oakland.

  • Charlie Morton SP | ATL

Rays' Charlie Morton: Fans seven in loss

Morton (8-2) was charged with the loss against the Twins on Wednesday after surrendering five runs (three earned) on eight hits and a walk while striking out seven through 6.1 innings.

Despite allowing a season high in hits, Morton only surrendered singles. As usual, the right-hander had no problem missing bats, and he looked sharp overall against the potent Twins. Morton has now gone three consecutive outings without a win following a four-game winning streak. Regardless, the 35-year-old still carries an impressive 2.43 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 120:34 K:BB into a favorable matchup against Baltimore on Monday.
