  • Matthew Boyd SP | CHC

Tigers' Matthew Boyd: Quality start in no-decision

Boyd struck out eight but didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 6-3 loss to the Twins, allowing three runs on nine hits over seven innings.

Mitch Garver and C.J. Cron both took him deep, but Boyd still delivered his 10th quality start of the season while fanning at least seven batters for the fifth straight outing. The southpaw continues to enjoy a breakout campaign, posting a 3.08 ERA and dazzling 105:15 K:BB over 84.2 innings, and he'll look to get back in the win column Thursday in Kansas City.

  • Andrew Heaney RP | LAD

Angels' Andrew Heaney: Fans 10 in loss

Heaney (0-1) was charged with the loss Friday against the Mariners, allowing five runs on six hits and two walks while striking out 10 through 5.2 innings.

In just his third start since recovering from his elbow issues and coming off the IL, Heaney punched out 10 batters for the second straight game. The left-hander retired the first eight batters before giving up a pair of singles and a walk in the fourth inning to knot the score at 1-1. Heaney then allowed a home run to Domingo Santana in the fifth and a three-run homer to Tom Murphy in the sixth to give Seattle a 5-1 lead. The 28-year-old now owns a 5.40 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 28:3 K:BB. He'll look to earn his first win Thursday against Tampa Bay.

  • Marco Gonzales RP | TEX

Mariners' Marco Gonzales: Earns sixth win

Gonzales (6-6) picked up the win Friday, holding the Angels to two runs on two hits and three walks while striking out five through 5.2 innings.

Gonzales surrendered a home run to Kole Calhoun in the second inning and an RBI single to Tommy La Stella in the sixth, but otherwise the 27-year-old looked solid against the Angels. The strong outing was nice to see after Gonzales had gotten shelled in his previous two starts against the Angels and Rangers. Through 15 appearances this season, the left-hander owns a 4.77 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 59:25 K:BB. He'll look to remain in the win column Thursday against the Twins.

  • Chris Bassitt SP | BAL

Athletics' Chris Bassitt: Starting nightcap of doubleheader

Bassitt will start the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Rangers.

Paul Blackburn was originally expected to start Saturday night, but he'll take the hill in the matinee instead. That will set Bassitt up for the nightcap, when he'll look to build on the 3-1 record, 3.42 ERA and 1.14 WHIP he's generated this season across 47.1 innings.

  • Paul Blackburn RP | NYY

Athletics' Paul Blackburn: Starting first game of twin bill

Blackburn will be promoted from Triple-A Las Vegas to start the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Rangers, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Blackburn had previously been slated to go in the nightcap of Saturday's doubleheader, but he'll toe the rubber in the matinee instead. The right-hander will be making his first big-league appearance of 2019 after logging 11 starts with the Aviators thus far this season.

  • Marcus Stroman SP | NYY

Blue Jays' Marcus Stroman: Suffers eighth defeat

Stroman (3-8) allowed six runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and two walks across 5.2 innings while taking a loss against the Diamondbacks on Friday.

The 28-year-old turned his season around in the latter part of May, but this start erased a lot of good things he had been doing. The six earned runs he allowed Friday were the same amount Stroman yielded in his previous four starts combined. The Diamondbacks tagged him for two homers, which is also what Stroman allowed in his previous four outings. The 28-year-old still only has a 3.31 ERA and 1.32 WHIP with 63 strikeouts in 81.2 innings. Stroman will look to bounce back on the road against the Orioles on Thursday.

  • Gerrit Cole SP | NYY

Astros' Gerrit Cole: Fans 14 in no-decision

Cole allowed three runs (one earned) on four hits and struck out 14 over seven innings Friday in a no-decision against the Orioles.

Baltimore got to Cole for two runs in the first inning and another in the third, but he would finish his night with four straight scoreless frames. He fired 80 of 113 pitches for strikes and punched out a season-high 14 batters, though he wouldn't come away with the victory. Despite this, the 28-year-old owns a 3.72 ERA with an eye-popping 130:20 K:BB over 84.2 innings this season.

  • Lance Lynn SP | STL

Rangers' Lance Lynn: Fans eight in no-decision

Lynn gave up two runs on six hits and a walk while striking out eight over six innings in Friday's no-decision against the Athletics.

Lynn got off to a shaky start by surrendering a run in the first inning, but he'd settle down and put up zeros in four of the next five frames to turn in a quality start. While he certainly pitched well enough to win, the Rangers bullpen would give up the lead in the seventh inning. Regardless of the outcome, the 32-year-old right-hander has now delivered six consecutive quality starts and owns a 4.39 ERA with 85 strikeouts across 80 innings this season.

  • Jesus Luzardo SP | PHI

Athletics' Jesus Luzardo: Slated to begin rehab stint

Luzardo (shoulder) pitched two innings in an extended spring game Thursday and will head to High-A Stockton on Tuesday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

This is more good news for Luzardo, who's scheduled to toss three innings for the Ports on Tuesday. According to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle, Oakland's top prospect will continue to be brought back as a starting pitcher, despite posting a 7.31 ERA with an 18:7 K:BB over 16 innings a season ago at Triple-A.

  • Mike Clevinger RP | PIT

Indians' Mike Clevinger: Knocked around in rehab start

Clevinger (back) allowed four runs on three hits and a pair of walks while striking out four batters in a rehab appearance Thursday for Triple-A Columbus.

Clevinger got up to 98 mph with his fastball, though that might be the only encouraging sign from his performance. Despite the poor outing, he may require just one more rehab appearance (likely with Double-A Akron) before returning to Cleveland.
