  • Red Sox's Eduardo Rodriguez: Will shed walking boot next week

The Red Sox should learn more about Rodriguez (ankle) next week after his walking boot is removed, Jason Mastrodonato of the Boston Herald reports.

Rodriguez has a history of lower-body injuries, from which his recovery has taken more time than initially expected. We'll learn more next week, but it's entirely possible a rehabilitation stint is in order for the left-hander. In the meantime, Brian Johnson will remain in the rotation, although the Red Sox have scouted starting pitching, including Toronto's J.A. Happ per Bob Elliott of CBC Sports.

  • Corey Kluber SP | BOS

Indians' Corey Kluber: Lasts just four innings in loss

Kluber (12-6) was rocked for seven runs (three earned) on nine hits and one walk across four innings in a loss to the Pirates on Monday. He struck out two.

Kluber made his first start of the second half after shaking off a knee issue, but he hardly looked like his normal self. He allowed four runs following a two-out error in the second inning and three more on four hits in the fourth. While Kluber's struggles could be attributed to a bit of rust after 11 days off and the recent knee issue, he's now allowed 18 earned runs across 26 innings in his last four starts. He still holds a shiny 2.88 ERA and will look to bounce back this weekend against the Tigers.

  • Cole Hamels SP | SD

Rangers' Cole Hamels: Takes ugly loss Monday

Hamels (5-9) allowed seven runs on nine hits, two walks and a hit batsman while striking out five over five innings in Monday's 15-3 loss to the Athletics.

Hamels gave up a pair of home runs -- a grand slam and a two-run shot -- in a game where several scouts were on hand. The Rangers gave him nine days in between starts to give him as much time as possible to sharpen his stuff for the prospective buyers, but he continued a slide that started in late June. The left-hander has allowed at least four runs in each of his last five starts -- three times allowing seven runs -- giving him a 10.23 ERA since June 25. He'll get one more opportunity to impress suitors before the trade deadline, Saturday at Houston.

  • White Sox's Lucas Giolito: Another quality start

Giolito (7-8) allowed three earned runs on five hits and four walks while striking out five across six innings to earn the win Monday against the Angels.

The Angels tagged Giolito for four extra-base hits but he managed to strand seven runners on base, highlighted by a bases loaded groundout by Albert Pujols to end the fifth inning. He has now recorded three consecutive quality starts. In that stretch, he has allowed five earned runs while striking out 14 batters, walking 10, and surrendering two home runs across 19.2 innings. To continue these results, he'll need to either cut down on his walks or continue to suppress home runs at a career-best rate.

  • Luis Severino SP | ATH

Yankees' Luis Severino: Knocked around vs. Rays

Severino (14-3) allowed seven runs (six earned) on 11 hits while fanning eight across five innings Monday as he took the loss against Tampa Bay.

Severino's outing went downhill in the fifth inning after allowing a three-run homer. He would surrender three more runs in the sixth before being lifted with a four-run deficit. Severino has struggled over his past three outings, as he's given up 14 runs (13 earned) through 15 innings while striking out 14. Despite a poor performance, he'll head into his next start with a sparkling 2.63 ERA and 1.05 WHIP with a 152:32 K:BB across 133.1 innings for the season.

  • Twins' Adalberto Mejia: Snags first victory

Mejia (1-0) allowed one run on eight hits and two walks while striking out three across 5.1 innings Monday as he notched the win over the Blue Jays.

Mejia dealt with a lot of traffic on the bases during his second outing of the season, but he managed to work out of danger, surrendering just the one run on a solo blast in the third inning. The 25-year-old lefty lasted four innings in his previous appearance, giving up four in a no-decision. Mejia figures to head back to the minors following Monday's start, as Ervin Santana (finger) will rejoin the rotation later in the week.

  • Kevin Gausman SP | CHC

Orioles' Kevin Gausman: Tagged with loss vs. Boston

Gausman (4-8) surrendered five runs on three hits and three walks while striking out two across 4.2 innings Monday as he was saddled with the loss against the Red Sox.

Gausman gave up a solo homer in the second inning, followed by four runs in the fifth on just three hits. He exited the ballgame with a five-run deficit after tossing 79 pitches. The 27-year-old right-hander has struggled over his past two outings, surrendering 10 runs through 9.2 innings while striking out four. Gausman will look to turn it around his next time out, which figures to come Saturday against Tampa Bay.

  • Yonny Chirinos SP | MIA

Rays' Yonny Chirinos: Recalled, will start Tuesday

Chirinos was recalled from Triple-A Durham on Monday and is scheduled to start Tuesday's game against the Yankees.

Chirinos will return to the big leagues for the first time since late April after a forearm strain interrupted what had been an impressive beginning to his MLB career. Prior to hitting the shelf and then getting optioned to Triple-A, Chirinos made six appearances (five starts) for the Rays, posting a 3.71 ERA and 1.27 WHIP with 24 strikeouts over 26.2 innings. Chirinos may not be in store for a lengthy stay in the Tampa Bay rotation, as the team expects to get ace Blake Snell (shoulder) back from the 10-day disabled list as soon as next week.

  • Deck McGuire SP | TOR

Angels' Deck McGuire: Sent down to Salt Lake

McGuire was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Monday.

McGuire and Oliver Drake were cast off the active roster in order to make room for Albert Pujols (knee) and Jaime Barria. Across seven appearances with the Angels this year, McGuire has logged a 5.94 ERA and 1.56 WHIP over 16.2 innings. He will likely return to the rotation at the Triple-A level in order to keep him available as an option if Los Angeles requires a spot starter in the future.

  • Frankie Montas RP | NYM

Athletics' Frankie Montas: Will start Tuesday

Montas will take the hill against Texas on Tuesday, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports.

As expected, Montas will be called up from Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday to make his ninth start of the season in the big leagues. Through 48.1 innings with Oakland, he's logged a 3.35 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 30 strikeouts. He will likely remain with the club following this start and get the call for Sunday's matchup with Colorado at Coors Field.
