  • Red Sox's Eduardo Rodriguez: Records fifth win over Braves

Rodriguez (5-1) got the win against the Braves on Friday, giving up two earned runs on six hits over 5.2 innings, striking out seven and walking three as the Red Sox ended up with a 6-2 victory.

Rodriguez has been sharp of late, with just five earned runs to his name and a 26:6 K:BB over his last 21.1 innings. His 4.02 ERA on the season still isn't spectacular, but that's a bit inflated thanks to a pair of rough starts on April 30 and May 5 where he gave up five earned runs each in back-to-back outings. With Rodriguez, the main question has always been whether he can stay healthy enough to put his skills to good use over the course of an entire season. If 2018 turns out to be the year where he finally does so, he certainly has the talent to put up good fantasy numbers.

  • Andrew Heaney RP | LAD

Angels' Andrew Heaney: Holds Yankees to one run in no-decision

Heaney allowed one run on four hits and three walks while striking out five over 6.1 innings in a no-decision against the Yankees on Friday.

This road matchup in New York represented the toughest test yet for Heaney, and he passed with flying colors. Heaney got 15 called strikes and 17 swinging strikes on 97 pitches -- performing arguably even more impressively than Luis Severino did for the other side. Heaney has allowed two earned runs or fewer in each of his last six starts, lowering his ERA to 3.09 through 46.2 innings this season. The lefty lines up for a road matchup in Detroit next week.

  • Luis Severino SP | ATH

Yankees' Luis Severino: Allows one run in no-decision

Severino allowed one run on four hits and four walks while striking out five over six innings in a no-decision against the Angels on Friday.

Mike Trout touched him up for a homer and Andrew Heaney's impressive showing on the other side kept Severino out of the win column, but it was another excellent performance from the 24-year-old. Severino has rattled off eight consecutive quality starts and ranks among the league leaders in every traditional pitching category. He will look to replicate his May 2 shutout of the Astros his next time out, this time at home.

  • Marcus Stroman SP | NYY

Blue Jays' Marcus Stroman: Scheduled to toss bullpen

Stroman (shoulder) will throw a bullpen session sometime next week, John Lott of The Athletic Toronto reports.

Stroman resumed throwing Monday, and he'll take the next step by attempting to throw a bullpen session in the near future. It remains unclear as to when Stroman could return, but the Blue Jays will likely get a better idea on his status following his next scheduled throwing session.

  • Michael Roth SP | TEX

Rangers' Michael Roth: Traded to Texas

Roth was sent to the Rangers from the Cubs on Friday, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports.

Roth inked a minor-league deal with Chicago over the offseason, but he's been traded after posting a 3.03 ERA with 23 strikeouts and 15 walks across 29.2 innings at Triple-A Iowa. He'll head to Triple-A Round Rock.

  • Nathan Eovaldi SP | TEX

Rays' Nathan Eovaldi: Slated to start Tuesday

Eovaldi (elbow) is scheduled to take the hill for Tuesday's matchup against the Athletics, Steve Carney of Sports Radio 620 WDAE reports.

Eovaldi is set to come off the disabled list early next week after recovering from arthroscopic surgery that occurred at the end of March. His upcoming start will be his first big-league action since the 2016 season, when he appeared in 24 games and posted a 4.76 ERA with 97 strikeouts across 124.2 innings. The Rays will be grateful to have him back in the starting rotation after losing Jake Faria, Yonny Chirinos and Jose De Leon to the DL.

  • Deck McGuire SP | TOR

Blue Jays' Deck McGuire: Optioned to Triple-A

McGuire was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on Friday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

He has given up six earned runs with seven strikeouts over 8.1 innings through four appearances in the majors this season. A corresponding move is to be determined. McGuire will continue to serve as organizational bullpen depth.

  • White Sox's Lucas Giolito: Demotion unlikely

Manager Rick Renteria said he doesn't foresee Giolito being demoted to the minors following Thursday's outing in which the starter lasted just 1.1 innings, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Giolito has struggled to throw strikes and locate pitches, much like fellow starter Carson Fulmer, whose performance prompted a demotion to Triple-A Charlotte a week ago. However, Renteria appears willing to let Giolito work through his issues at the major-league level. The 23-year-old right-hander has walked 37 over 49 innings (6.8 BB/9) and carries a 7.53 ERA into his next start Tuesday in Cleveland.

  • Blake Snell SP | LAD

Rays' Blake Snell: Sharp in win over Red Sox

Snell (6-3) got the win against the Red Sox on Thursday, yielding no earned runs on three hits over six strong innings, striking out eight and walking two as Tampa Bay eventually bagged a 6-3 victory.

Snell kept his strong start to the season rolling, nabbing his sixth victory of the campaign and lowering his ERA to 2.78 by shutting down a tough Red Sox lineup. Time will tell if he can keep putting up numbers like this considering he averaged a 3.79 ERA over his 218.1 career big-league innings coming into 2018, but Snell also has a 1.02 WHIP and a 61:19 K:BB over his 58.2 innings, and the improved walk rate is a very encouraging sign as he continues his bid to become the Rays' staff ace.

  • Mike Clevinger RP | PIT

Indians' Mike Clevinger: Falls to Astros again

Clevinger (3-2) allowed five earned runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out four across 5.1 innings to take the loss Thursday against the Astros.

Clevinger was able to scatter five hits and two walks through his first four innings without allowing a run, but surrendered a three-run home run in the fifth inning before being pulled in the sixth inning after allowing two of the first three batters he faced to reach base. He will be happy to get a start against a team other than the Astros in his next outing, as he allowed eight earned runs in 11.2 innings with 15 hits and seven walks in his two consecutive starts against them. His overall numbers remain strong -- he has a 3.32 ERA and 1.22 WHIP -- so there's no reason to panic about his results against one of the more dangerous lineups in the league.
