Kevin Gausman SP | CHC
Orioles' Kevin Gausman: Can't hold early lead Friday
Gausman gave up six runs (five earned) on nine hits over four innings while striking out seven in Friday's loss to the Twins. He didn't factor into the decision.
Manny Machado and the O's offense staked Gausman to a 6-0 lead by the third inning, but the right-hander quickly proceeded to cough it up, allowing two runs in the fourth and putting the first four batters on base in the fifth before getting yanked and watching the bullpen complete the collapse. The 26-year-old had been showing signs of turning things around lately and still has a 3.27 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 29:6 K:BB over 22 innings in his last four starts, offering some hope to fantasy GMs who have stuck with him heading into the second half.

Cole Hamels SP | SD
Rangers' Cole Hamels: Stifles Angels on Friday
Hamels (4-0) scattered three hits and a walk over 7.2 scoreless innings while striking out six in Friday's win over the Angels.
He didn't allow a runner to reach second base and threw 65 of 95 pitches for strikes in the 10-0 blowout. After a rough first outing in his return from the DL at the end of June, Hamels has now delivered two straight quality starts. The veteran lefty will rest over the All-Star break before taking the mound again next Friday in Kansas City.

Ricky Nolasco SP | ARI
Angels' Ricky Nolasco: Crushed by Rangers on Friday
Nolasco (4-10) surrendered eight runs on seven hits and two walks over 1.2 innings in Friday's loss to the Rangers. He struck out two.
After tossing 15.1 scoreless innings over his previous two starts, Nolasco crashed back to earth with a thud and reminded everyone how risky a fantasy play he is. The volatile veteran will take a 5.06 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 7.6 K/9 into the second half.

Jason Hammel SP | TEX
Royals' Jason Hammel: Fans seven in loss
Hammel (4-8) struck out seven and allowed three runs on eight hits and three walks over six innings in a loss to the Dodgers on Friday.
The Dodgers are scorching hot and boast a deep lineup, so this was actually one of Hammel's better outings of the year, despite the loss. His 5.04 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 7.3 K/9 don't jump off the page, but Hammel has now allowed three runs or fewer in six of his past seven starts. An improved second half isn't out of the question with Hammel building momentum heading into the All-Star break.

James Paxton SP | BOS
Mariners' James Paxton: Enters break on high note
Paxton (7-3) allowed two runs on two hits and three walks while striking out nine batters through seven innings during Friday's win over Oakland.
The breakout campaign continues for the imposing lefty, as Paxton sports an impressive 3.21 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 10.1 K/9. His 2.86 FIP also affirms his status as a high-end fantasy asset. Looking ahead, Paxton is locked in as a matchup-proof option and could toe the rubber again against the Athletics following the All-Star break.

Nathan Eovaldi SP | TEX
Rays' Nathan Eovaldi: Hits new benchmark in rehab
Eovaldi (elbow) threw from halfway up the mound for the first time in his rehab Friday, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Eovaldi will miss the entire 2017 campaign due to August 2016 Tommy John surgery, but he continues to make steady progress in his recovery. The 27-year-old will try to resuscitate his career during spring training next season assuming his rehab continues at the same pace.

Jake Odorizzi SP | TB
Rays' Jake Odorizzi: Tagged by BoSox on Friday
Odorizzi (5-4) coughed up seven runs on eight hits and three walks over 4.1 innings in Friday's 8-3 loss to the Red Sox. He struck out five.
The right-hander remains stuck in a rut, allowing at least three runs in seven straight starts with a 6.69 ERA, 1.66 WHIP, 31:16 K:BB and 2.8 HR/9 in 35 innings over that stretch. Odorizzi will take a 4.63 ERA into the second half, with his next start coming next Friday on the road against the Angels.

Felix Jorge SP | MIN
Twins' Felix Jorge: Optioned to Triple-A
Jorge was optioned to Triple-A Rochester after he struggled in his second career start. Jorge gave up six runs and three home runs over 2.2 innings, but got a no-decision in Friday's win over Baltimore.
Jorge gave up three runs and seven hits over five innings in his first start, but struggled in his second outing. Still, he could get another shot later in July as the Twins continue to seek any production at the back end of their rotation.

Carlos Carrasco RP | ATL
Indians' Carlos Carrasco: Fans season-high 11 in Friday's win
Carrasco (10-3) allowed two runs on nine hits and a walk over seven innings while striking out 11 in Friday's 11-2 win over the Tigers.
He became just the second Cleveland pitcher in history (after Justin Masterson in 2014) to record an immaculate inning, striking out Nick Castellanos, Mikie Mahtook and Jose Iglesias on nine pitches in the fifth. A rough outing against the Rangers aside Carrasco has been on a roll lately, striking out at least seven batters in five straight trips to the mound and recording quality starts in four of those five. The right-hander is set to kick off the second half for Cleveland next Friday in Oakland.

Jordan Montgomery RP | TEX
Yankees' Jordan Montgomery: Outing shortened by rain delay Friday
Montgomery (6-4) allowed two runs on seven hits while striking out four over 4.1 innings, but didn't factor into the decision Friday against the Brewers.
Montgomery was on his was to potentially winning his seventh game of the year, but a lengthy rain delay ended his night after he threw just 74 pitches. He's held opponents to three or fewer runs in six of his last seven starts, and he's been a reliable fantasy option with a 3.65 ERA. He'll make his next start at a time yet to be determined after the All-Star break.
