Joe Musgrove SP | SD
Astros' Joe Musgrove: Back to throwing Monday
Musgrove (shoulder) played catch Monday for the first time since landing on the disabled list, Jake Kaplan of the Houston Chronicle reports.
The hope is that Musgrove's shoulder will respond well enough to this session that he'll be able to throw a bullpen session Thursday. This likely means he won't be ready for a return to the rotation until next week, but a firmer timetable should emerge once Houston reveals whether he'll need a rehab assignment prior to returning.

Eduardo Rodriguez SP | ARI
Red Sox's Eduardo Rodriguez: Has 3-to-4 weeks of rest on tap
Rodriguez (knee) will rest his knee for 3-to-4 weeks at the suggestion of Dr. James Andrews, Evan Drellich of CSN New England reports.
Rodriguez sought out a second opinion on his ailing knee Monday, and although no ligament damage was found, there's a decent chance that the southpaw won't be available to pitch until the end of the season. The Red Sox also haven't ruled out surgery altogether, as it may be necessary later in the season or during the offseason if the rest alone doesn't help. Overall, this is still tough news, as it's hard to envision Rodriguez making many more starts this season. More information on a potential return date should come forth once he begins ramping up his activities again, which could be in early July.

Ricky Nolasco SP | ARI
Angels' Ricky Nolasco: Strikes out seven in loss Sunday
Nolasco (2-6) gave up three runs on seven hits while striking out seven over 5.2 innings in a loss to the Twins on Sunday.
The veteran bounced back after a shaky outing last Monday, falling one out short of a quality start when he gave up his second home run of the game in the sixth inning. Nolasco has provided deep-league owners with usable strikeout totals (8.2 K/9) as a starter, but his inability to limit the long ball (2.5 HR/9) has resulted in a subpar 5.05 ERA. Considering his next start comes on the road against the Astros -- who lead the majors in homers -- on Saturday, it would be best to avoid the 34-year-old at all costs.

Carlos Carrasco RP | ATL
Indians' Carlos Carrasco: Next start pushed to Sunday
Carrasco will have his next start pushed back to Sunday against the White Sox.
Rain interfered with Sunday's contest in Kansas City, forcing manager Terry Francona to shuffle his rotation for this week's slate. It's not a major deal for Carrasco, as he was scheduled to take on the White Sox in a one-start week to begin with.

Justin Verlander SP | DET
Tigers' Justin Verlander: MRI comes back clean
An MRI on Verlander's groin came back clean, and the Tigers will determine his next start sometime later in the week, Chris McCosky of the Detroit News reports.
Verlander departed Sunday's start with tightness in his groin, but the Tigers can breathe a sigh of relief after Monday's MRI revealed no structural damage. The team stated Sunday that the hope is that Verlander will be able to make his next start, but when, exactly, that could be won't be revealed until later in the week. Prior to exiting Sunday, Verlander allowed two runs on six hits over just two innings of work.

Cole Hamels SP | SD
Rangers' Cole Hamels: Aces first mound test
Hamels (oblique) threw 21 pitches during a bullpen session Sunday and experienced no issues, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports. "It looked good. ... It looked normal," Rangers pitching coach Doug Brocail said afterward.
It was Hamels' first mound work since he was shut down after his April 26 start due to a strained right oblique. The Rangers will wait and see how Hamels is feeling a couple days after the session before outlining the rest of his throwing program. The veteran left-hander isn't expected to come off the disabled list until shortly before the All-Star break.

Frankie Montas RP | NYM
Athletics' Frankie Montas: Unravels against Nationals
Montas gave up five earned runs on five hits and a walk over an inning in Sunday's 11-10 loss to the Nationals. He also recorded a strikeout.
The young right-hander continues to be plagued by inconsistency, as he's surrendered seven earned runs on seven hits -- including three homers -- across four innings spanning his last three appearances. Montas' ERA ballooned to 6.11 as a result of Sunday's outing, and he's now seen seven balls leave the yard over his 28 innings.

Chris Sale SP | ATL
Red Sox's Chris Sale: Battles back for seventh win
Sale (7-2) allowed three runs on six hits and one walk while striking out nine over six innings in Sunday's 7-3 win over the Orioles.
Sale was presented with a 2-0 first-inning lead, only to have Pablo Sandoval's ruinous defense help hand three runs to the O's in the bottom of the frame, running up the left-hander's pitch count to 39. No problem; that just gave Sale an opportunity to show off his bulldog side, slamming the door on Baltimore over his final five innings. Sale is next scheduled to start Friday, when Boston returns home to face Detroit.

Sonny Gray SP | BOS
Athletics' Sonny Gray: Pitches seven strong Sunday
Gray tossed seven innings of three-run ball Sunday against the Nationals, striking out six and walking three during a 11-10 loss.
Gray had produced three quality starts in a row before a poor start against Cleveland on May 30, so Sunday was a bit of a bounce-back effort from him, despite his no-decision. The 27-year-old's ERA now sits at 4.57 with 37 strikeouts and 13 walks on the season.

Jose Berrios SP | TOR
Twins' Jose Berrios: Rebounds with strong start Sunday
Berrios pitched six innings and picked up the win Sunday during the Twins' 3-2 win against the Angels, allowing two runs and six hits, while striking out four and walking two.
After struggling for the first time this season during his last outing, Berrios rebounded with six strong innings Sunday. It's likely safe to say Berrios is here to stay in Minnesota's rotation, and rightfully so, since he has allowed 10 runs over 32.2 innings with a 2.76 ERA in the big leagues.
