  • Yankees' Jordan Montgomery: Strikes out seven in Friday loss

Montgomery (2-2) allowed four runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out seven across six innings to take the loss Friday against the Astros.

Montgomery gave up a three-run homer to Brian McCann, and with the Yankees bats being silenced, he suffered his second loss of the season. He's only posted two quality starts over his last four outings, but his 4.19 ERA this year, along with 22 strikeouts over his last 23.2 innings, are making him a useful fantasy option. He'll make his next start Thursday against the Royals.

  • Astros' Lance McCullers: Fans seven in Friday win

McCullers (3-1) allowed no runs on four hits while striking out seven across six innings to earn the win Friday against the Yankees.

McCullers had no problem silencing the Yankees bats in a road contest while the offense gave him plenty of support, leading to his third win of the season. He's allowed just seven earned runs over his last five starts to lower his ERA from 4.67 to 2.98, and as long as he remains healthy, he'll continue to be a strong fantasy option. He'll make his next start Wednesday against the Marlins.

  • Jose Berrios SP | TOR

Twins' Jose Berrios: Officially recalled from Rochester

Berrios was officially recalled from Triple-A Rochester on Friday.

Minnesota was waiting for Friday's game to end to make this move official, as Berrios will make his first major league start of the season Saturday against Cleveland. Berrios was awful in his first crack at the majors last year (8.02 ERA, 1.87 WHIP over 14 starts), but after dominating Triple-A to the tune of just five runs allowed over six starts to open 2017, he has earned another shot at the Show.

  • Mariners' Christian Bergman: Suffers first loss of season Friday

Bergman (0-1) allowed three runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out one over five innings to take the loss Friday against the Blue Jays.

Bergman allowed a two-run bomb to Jose Bautista, but otherwise had a respectable outing on the road at Toronto despite taking the loss. As long as the Mariners have injuries in their starting rotation, he could continue to make additional appearances. He'll make his next start Wednesday against the Athletics.

  • James Paxton SP | BOS

Mariners' James Paxton: Aiming for return on next road trip

Manager Scott Servais said Friday that he's hoping Paxton (forearm) can return during the team's next road trip, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

There had previously been some hope that Paxton could return during the upcoming homestand, but Servais is now looking at the end of May as a "realistic expectation" for the lefty's activation. Seattle begins its next road trip May 23 at Washington, with three games at Boston and two at Colorado to follow. Paxton played catch Thursday for the first time since landing on the DL.

  • JC Ramirez SP | LAA

Angels' JC Ramirez: Gives up five runs in loss Thursday

Ramirez (3-3) was hit hard by the Tigers on Thursday, giving up five runs on eight hits while striking out four over seven innings.

The 28-year-old was done in by two big home runs through his first two innings of work, but he did settle down and finished out seven frames. Even though Ramirez's ERA ballooned to 4.20 on the year, he maintains solid strikeout (8.2 K/9) and walk (2.7 BB/9) rates for a pitcher who just made the transition to a starter this season. The righty has shown us enough through five starts to warrant some consideration in shallower leagues, but he could also be worth a look as a streamer in standard formats with a favorable matchup against the White Sox coming up next Tuesday.

  • Dallas Keuchel SP | MIL

Astros' Dallas Keuchel: Spins another gem to collect sixth win

Keuchel (6-0) allowed one unearned run on five hits and a walk while striking out nine batters during Thursday's win over the Yankees.

After a tough-luck outing against the Angels last time out, Keuchel was dominant Thursday. He has allowed more than one run in just two outings all season and sports an elite 1.69 ERA and 0.87 WHIP. He's never been a huge contributor in the strikeout department, but his 7.7 K/9 and 22.8 strikeout percentage move the fantasy needle. The crafty lefty is back among the high-end hurlers after a poor 2016 campaign, and Keuchel will look to stay hot on the road against Miami in his next start.

  • Jose Berrios SP | TOR

Twins' Jose Berrios: Will be called up to start Saturday

Berrios will be called up to start Saturday against the Indians, LaVelle E. Neal III of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Berrios has been dominant for a second consecutive season at Triple-A with a 1.13 ERA and 39:8 K:BB in 39.2 innings. He struggled in the majors last season with an ugly 8.02 ERA and a 5.4 BB/9 in six starts. As Minnesota's top pitching prospect, he should improve in the majors but better control will be key.

  • Martin Perez SP | ATL

Rangers' Martin Perez: Hurls another quality start

Perez allowed two earned runs on seven hits and two walks over 6.1 innings Thursday in a victory over San Diego. He struck out three and received a no-decision.

The 26-year-old southpaw put together a solid outing for the third quality start in his last four turns. Regardless, a lack of run support prevented him from notching his first win since April 9. Walks have been an issue so far this season, as Perez carries a 4.3 BB/9. Even with his recent successes, the overall body of work still makes it hard to recommend him even in deeper mixed leagues. He'll take the hill again Wednesday at home against Philadelphia.

  • James Paxton SP | BOS

Mariners' James Paxton: Setback-free in Thursday throwing session

Paxton (forearm) played catch for six minutes at 60 feet at Safeco Field on Thursday and did not experience any setbacks, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

The 28-year-old lefty felt good following the session, his first time doing any throwing since landing on the disabled list last Friday. He'll wait to see how his forearm feels Friday before a decision is rendered on the next step in his rehab.
