  • Rays' Jake Odorizzi: Suffers tough-luck loss

Odorizzi (2-2) allowed one run on four hits and two walks while striking out four batters over six innings during Thursday's loss to Kansas City.

The 27-year-old righty was outdone by Jason Vargas on Thursday. Odorizzi has now allowed two runs or fewer in each of his past five appearances -- just six total over 25 innings -- and sports a high-end 2.61 ERA and 0.81 WHIP for the season. While his 7.0 K/9 and 21.3 strikeout percentage aren't standout marks, Odorizzi is in a nice groove and appears to be kick-starting a breakout campaign. He lines up for a tough road matchup against Cleveland in his next trip to the hill.

  • Jay Groome SP | SD

Red Sox's Jay Groome: Working on throws in Florida

Groome (back) is in Fort Myers (Fla.) working on a throwing progression, Ryan Hannable of WEEI.com reports.

Groome, who was selected in the first round (12th overall) of the 2016 draft, left his first start at Low-A Greenville in 2017 after just 1.1 innings. The Red Sox will take it slowly with the 18-year-old left-hander before they let him get back on a mound.

  • Dylan Bundy SP | NYM

Orioles' Dylan Bundy: Start moved to Friday

Bundy will start Friday's series opener against the Royals, MASN's Roch Kubatko reports.

The Orioles will push Bundy back a day after his scheduled start Thursday was postponed due to rain. He'll avoid facing a Nationals lineup that owns the highest wOBA in baseball (.360) and instead face a Royals club that ranks dead last in that category (.272).

  • Red Sox's Eduardo Rodriguez: Holds Brewers to one run over six innings

Rodriguez allowed one run on three hits while striking out five batters during Thursday's win over Milwaukee. He did not factor into the decision.

The lefty is settling in and pitching well for Boston. Following his tidy outing against the Brewers, Rodriguez sports a 2.80 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 10.7 K/9 with a 30.3 strikeout percentage. Those are excellent numbers, and with the Red Sox capable of providing plenty of run support, it's a little surprising Rodriguez has just a single win this season. He'll look to pick up his second win of the campaign in a road start against St. Louis next week.

  • Dylan Bundy SP | NYM

Orioles' Dylan Bundy: Thursday start postponed

Bundy will not make his scheduled start Thursday as the game was postponed due to inclement weather, Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com reports.

The forecast for Washington, D.C. earlier Thursday left open the possibility of the Orioles and Nationals finishing out the Beltway Series, but the rain never let up. With that, Bundy owners will have to wait until at least Friday before he returns to the hill. The Orioles have yet to announce whether Bundy will simply be pushed back a day and start Friday in Kansas City or moved until later in the series.

  • Jose Berrios SP | TOR

Twins' Jose Berrios: Unlikely to start Saturday

Berrios is not expected to be called up to start Saturday against the Indians, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

While Berrios has been stellar at Triple-A this season, compiling a 1.13 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 39:8 K:BB through six starts (39.2 innings), it appears the Twins will look elsewhere for Saturday's spot starter. Given the Twins haven't confirmed this yet, it's still subject to change. With Berrios likely out of the picture, it could mean that Nick Tepesch will draw the start Saturday, as he was scheduled to start Thursday before a rainout allowed his turn in the rotation to be skipped.

  • Tyler Cloyd SP | MIA

    Mariners' Tyler Cloyd: Joins Mariners

Cloyd was assigned to Triple-A Tacoma after the Mariners purchased his Atlantic League contract from Somerset.

Cloyd had a 1.50 ERA and 16 strikeouts through 12 innings (three starts) with Somerset before joining the Mariners. The 29-year-old hasn't pitched in the majors since 2013, when he posted a 6.56 ERA across 60.1 innings with the Phillies. Given his career 5.98 ERA across two major league seasons (93.1 innings), Cloyd figures to serve as organizational depth.

  • James Paxton SP | BOS

Mariners' James Paxton: Beginning throwing plan Thursday

Paxton (forearm) will start a throwing program Thursday and may return during Seattle's next homestand, MLB Network Radio reports.

Manager Scott Servais also said Paxton should rejoin the club before Felix Hernandez and Hisashi Iwakuma, who are dealing with shoulder injuries. The Mariners' next Safeco Field stretch begins Monday and lasts the full week. Fantasy players with weekly lineups could prepare to toss the dazzling left-hander back into the fray.

  • JC Ramirez SP | LAA

Angels' JC Ramirez: Confirmed for Thursday

Ramirez will start for the Angels against the Tigers on Thursday, Vito Chirco of the Detroit Free Press reports.

The right-hander has enjoyed a quasi-breakout stretch (3.74 ERA, 8.8 K/9, 2.9 BB/9 in 33.2 innings) to start 2017. Ramirez has leaned heavily on his two-seamer and installed a curveball this year, which have helped him produce an enticing increase in swinging-strike rate (an excellent 10.3 percent, per Fangraphs). A tough matchup with the Tigers will test just how far he's come, though he remains worth a start in deep fantasy leagues.

  • Matthew Boyd SP | CHC

Tigers' Matt Boyd: Takes loss Wednesday despite quality start

Boyd (2-3) allowed four runs (three earned) on eight hits and three walks while striking out six over six innings in Wednesday's 7-1 loss to the Diamondbacks.

The left-hander has now provided quality starts in five of his last six outings, but his 3.89 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 29:19 K:BB in 39.1 innings on the season leave a lot to be desired. Boyd faces a tough challenge in his next start Tuesday at home against the Orioles.
