Astros' Dallas Keuchel: To miss at least two starts

Keuchel (shoulder) will miss his next two starts, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Keuchel was scratched from Tuesday's scheduled start against the Indians, but it's been announced that he won't start this weekend against the Cubs as well. An estimated return for Keuchel has yet to be announced, as he's been shut down from throwing entirely.

Astros' Dallas Keuchel: Dealing with shoulder inflammation

Keuchel (shoulder) won't start Tuesday's game against the Indians, Jake Kaplan of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Keuchel has stopped throwing altogether and has left the Astros' road trip and returned to Houston to have his shoulder examined further. The current diagnosis is inflammation, but his status should be updated in the coming days. With Keuchel out Tuesday, Brad Peacock is slated to take the mound against Cleveland.

  • Sonny Gray SP | BOS

Athletics' Sonny Gray: Making gradual progress

Grey (forearm) threw from 120 feet Monday, John Hickey of the Bay Area News Group reports.

In addition to extending the length of his long toss, Gray is beginning to increase his velocity when pitching at a distance of 60 feet. Although the right-hander continues to make notable progress, the team is still taking it slowly, and a firm timetable for return remains difficult to estimate.

  • Orioles' Odrisamer Despaigne: Gets designated for assignment

Despaigne was designated for assignment Monday, Rich Dubroff of CSN Mid-Atlantic reports.

Despaigne owns a 3.87 ERA across 88.1 innings at Triple-A Norfolk this season and didn't profile as anything more than a potential spot starter or long reliever for the big club, so he was deemed expendable when a 40-man roster spot was needed for reliever Brian Duensing, who was activated from the 60-day DL in a corresponding move. Assuming Despaigne goes unclaimed off waivers, he'll likely stick in the organization as a depth arm at Triple-A.

  • Jose Berrios SP | TOR

Twins' Jose Berrios: Recalled from Triple-A for Monday start

Berrios was recalled from Triple-A Rochester and will make the start for the Twins on Monday against the Royals, MLB.com reports.

Berrios will replace Pat Dean in the rotation and look to redeem himself after disastrous showings during his two previous stints with the Twins this season. In his nine starts with the big club spanning 37 innings, Berrios has been pounded to the tune of a 9.24 ERA and 1.97 WHIP. Walks (23) and homers (eight) have been a major trouble spot for the top prospect, and until he rectifies those command woes, he'll probably deliver some volatile outings.

  • Andrew Albers SP | MIN

Twins' Andrew Albers: Struggles again in loss

Albers gave up five runs -- just three earned -- on six hits over 4.2 innings in a no-decision Sunday against the White Sox, though he did strike out six.

Albers has given up seven runs in 6.7 innings in his last two starts. He may not get another start in September, as Tommy Milone is expected to return from the DL and the team may call up Tyler Duffey from Triple-A.

  • Wade Miley SP | CIN

Orioles' Wade Miley: Takes another loss Sunday

Miley (8-12) allowed four runs on five hits and four walks over five innings while striking out four in Sunday's loss to the Yankees.

Back in early June, Miley was 6-2 despite an inflated 5.27 ERA. Since then, his ERA hasn't gotten any better, but his record has caught up to his performance, as he's dropped 10 of his last 12 decisions. Unfortunately for the Orioles, they really don't have any better options for their rotation, so the veteran lefty will head back to the mound Saturday for a tough matchup against Miguel Cabrera, J.D. Martinez and the rest of the Tigers' right-handed sluggers in Detroit.

  • Luis Severino SP | ATH

Yankees' Luis Severino: Picks up relief win Sunday

Severino walked two and struck out two over two scoreless innings to get credited with his second win of the season in Sunday's victory over the Orioles.

While it's nice to see him pitching well for a change, the relief outing makes it clear that the Yankees are not considering Severino as a rotation option in place of Chad Green (elbow). Expect Severino to remain in the bullpen for the rest of the season.

  • Red Sox's Eduardo Rodriguez: Loses no-hit bid in eighth inning Sunday

Rodriguez (2-6) allowed no runs on one hit and two walks while striking out five over eight innings in a no-decision Sunday against the Athletics.

Rodriguez lost a no-hit bid on an overturned call in the eighth inning, but still posted his best performance of the season despite not factoring into the decision. Other than his first appearance on May 31, his 4.83 ERA is the first time that number has been below 5.11 since that time.

  • Yu Darvish SP | SD

Rangers' Yu Darvish: Pounded for five runs in Sunday loss

Darvish (5-4) allowed five runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out four over four innings to take the loss Sunday against the Astros.

After holding opponents to two or fewer earned runs in eight of his first 10 starts this year, Darvish has now given up at least three earned runs in three straight contests to raise his ERA from 2.75 to 3.45.
