  • Matthew Boyd SP | CHC

Tigers' Matt Boyd: Will be activated to start Tuesday

Boyd, who was optioned to Triple-A Toledo earlier in the week, will be activated to start against the White Sox on Tuesday, reports MLive.com.

Boyd was subject to the roster move because he has no available options. He struggled his last time out, giving up seven hits, two walks and two earned runs in four innings against the White Sox. With Jordan Zimmermann (lat) in line to return during the upcoming weekend, Boyd's stay in the rotation may be short lived.

  • Jose Berrios SP | TOR

Twins' Jose Berrios: Coming back up from minors to start Monday

Berrios will be recalled from Triple-A Rochester to start Monday against the Royals, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Following another disastrous stint with the Twins, Berrios once again dominated at Triple-A after getting sent back down. In his lone start with Rochester last week, Berrios struck out a season-high 14 batters over eight innings. With the Twins looking toward the future, there's little for the organization to gain by not allowing Berrios to learn on the job at the MLB level, even if he takes some lumps along the way. The 22-year-old still looks to be a prime asset in dynasty leagues, but it would probably be too ambitious to expect great results from him Monday, considering he's sitting on a 9.24 ERA and 1.97 WHIP through his first nine starts with the Twins.

  • Mike Clevinger RP | PIT

Indians' Mike Clevinger: Will make spot start Monday

Clevinger will get the start Monday against the Astros, Ryan Lewis of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

Clevinger has been working in a bullpen role for the past three weeks, so he'll face a pitch limit Monday in what amounts to a bullpen game, thereby limiting his utility as a DFS option. Josh Tomlin, who was initially in line to start Monday before poor performance prompted manager Terry Francona to skip him, will serve as a piggyback option once Clevinger is pulled from the game.

  • Blake Snell SP | LAD

Rays' Blake Snell: Stellar against Jays despite leg bruise

Snell (leg) gave up one earned run on two hits and two walks over six innings in a 7-5 victory over the Blue Jays on Saturday.

The rookie put together one of the best efforts of his young career despite dealing with the residual effects of a leg bruise suffered against the Astros in his last start. Snell recorded 13 swinging strikes overall and put in his longest outing since July 24 versus the A's, while also snapping a two-start losing streak. He'll look to keep the momentum going when he takes on the Yankees next Friday.

  • Tommy Milone SP | SEA

Twins' Tommy Milone: Throws another bullpen session Saturday

Milone (biceps) threw a 45-pitch bullpen session Saturday, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

It's Milone's second side session since he hit the DL on Aug. 12. With Milone enduring no setbacks while throwing, he's slated to face hitters in batting practice Tuesday for the next phase of his rehab. He looks to be on track to return to the Twins later this month.

  • James Paxton SP | BOS

Mariners' James Paxton: Ready for Tuesday start after tearing finger nail

Paxton, who tested the repair nail on his middle finger Saturday in a bullpen session, is expected to make his scheduled start Tuesday against the Rangers, the Tacoma News Tribune reports.

Paxton tore the finger nail in his last start. Unless something crops up in the next few days, it looks like he'll start Tuesday, but it wouldn't be surprising if the nail gives him trouble with his grip as he gets deeper into the game.

  • Taijuan Walker SP | LAA

Mariners' Taijuan Walker: Fails to get out of first inning versus Angels on Saturday

Walker didn't get out of the first frame, allowing six runs (five earned) on six hits and striking out a batter in a loss to the Angels on Saturday.

The Angels hit back-to-back-to-back home runs off Walker within the first four batters of the game, and it didn't get much better after that, as Walker retired just two of the 10 hitters he faced. He is 4-10 with a 4.60 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 89 strikeouts in 103.2 innings. Walker will look to bounce back in his next start versus Texas on Thursday.

  • Kevin Gausman SP | CHC

Orioles' Kevin Gausman: Shuts down Yankees for second straight start Saturday

Gausman (7-10) blanked the Yankees for the second straight outing, allowing just two hits, striking out eight and walking two over six innings in a victory Saturday night.

In his last two starts, Gausman has thrown 13 scoreless innings versus the Yankees. Overall, the right-hander hasn't allowed a run for 19 straight frames, and during that time, he has 19 strikeouts. This streak has dropped Gausman's ERA to 3.58 this season. He also has a 1.28 WHIP and 148 strikeouts in 146 innings.

  • Joe Musgrove SP | SD

Astros' Joe Musgrove: Knocked around by Rangers on Saturday

Musgrove (2-3) gave up five earned runs on eight hits and two walks over 4.1 innings in Saturday's 12-4 loss to the Rangers. He struck out three.

The 23-year-old was hit hard by a potent Rangers lineup, beginning with a second-inning solo homer by Adrian Beltre that traveled 419 feet. Mitch Moreland followed with an RBI single in the fourth that brought in both Beltre and Carlos Beltran, and Nomar Mazara helped hasten his exit with a 416-foot two-run shot in the fifth. Musgrove got the hook after 77 pitches and has now given up 18 earned runs over three of his last four starts. He'll try to bounce back when he takes on the Indians on Thursday.

  • Alex Meyer SP | LAA

Angels' Alex Meyer: To join rotation Wednesday

Meyer will join the rotation Wednesday in Oakland, the Los Angeles Times' Pedro Moura reports.

He takes the place of Brett Oberholtzer, as the Angels will use September as an early tryout of sorts for Meyer to make a case to be a part of their 2017 rotation. He gave up two hits and struck out six over four shutout innings in Thursday's start for Triple-A Salt Lake, but had been somewhat less successful in his other outings since coming over to the Angels in a deadline deal with the Twins. Meyer has a career 14.21 ERA in 6.1 MLB innings, and walks have always been a big issue for him, but compared to the other options at the Angels' disposal, Meyer's upside is intriguing. When he's going right, he can miss a lot of bats, and if he can get his control figured out, there could be something here.
