Mariners' James Paxton: Reports feeling elbow tightness Thursday

Paxton said he felt some tightness in his elbow while playing catch Thursday, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports.

The lefty showed up at the ballpark Thursday with reduced swelling and gained clearance to play catch, but it seems he's still dealing with the effects from being hit by a comebacker last weekend. A return to the Mariners' rotation early next week is still on the table but so, it would seem, is a DL stint if the discomfort continues to linger.

  • Tommy Milone SP | SEA

Twins' Tommy Milone: Lands on disabled list

Milone (biceps) will hit the disabled list with left biceps tendinitis, Brandon Warne of Cold Omaha reports.

Milone was roughed up by the Astros during his spot start Thursday, and underwent an MRI on his shoulder Friday. The 29-year-old will miss the next couple weeks depending on the severity of his injury, and the Twins called up Pat Dean from Triple-A Rochester in a corresponding move Friday.

  • Luis Severino SP | ATH

Yankees' Luis Severino: Believes he will start Sunday

Severino, who was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday, said he believes he will start Sunday against the Rays, Wallace Matthews of ESPN.com reports.

Two days after being sent down, Severino is back on the Yankees' active roster replacing Nathan Eovaldi (elbow). Chad Green would also be an option for Sunday, but the Yankees need a starter for Monday as well and Green figures to take that turn on one additional day's rest. Severino struggled Tuesday at Boston, giving up five runs on seven hits in 4.1 innings, but he was excellent in his first appearance of August and it sounds like he will face a relatively soft landing in the Rays in his return to the rotation.

Yankees' Luis Severino: Recalled by Yankees Friday

The Yankees have recalled Severino from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Severino gets the call as the Yankees put Nathan Eovaldi on the 15-day disabled list with a right elbow injury. Severino is expected to start Monday as the Yankees host the Blue Jays. On the season with New York, Severino has a 6.42 ERA with 40 strikeouts in 47.2 innings. Severino has started eight games in 11 appearances with the Yankees this season.

  • Nathan Eovaldi SP | TEX

Yankees' Nathan Eovaldi: Placed on disabled list Friday

The Yankees have placed Eovaldi (elbow) on the 15-day DL on Friday.

Eovaldi underwent an MRI on Thursday and was diagnosed with a right elbow tendon injury. The Yankees will be very cautious with Eovaldi the rest of the season as they are well out of the playoff race in the American League. A timetable of the injury is unclear at this time, but expect Eovaldi to miss more than the 15-day designation.

  • Red Sox's Eduardo Rodriguez: Strikes out six during strong outing

Rodriguez (2-5) hurled seven innings of one-run ball while punching out six and walking one against the Yankees on Thursday.

After frustrating fantasy owners with an 8.59 ERA in the first half, the lefty Rodriguez has transformed himself into a pitcher most thought he'd be. He entered Thursday's start with a 3.18 ERA over his last 28.1 innings, and his newfound brilliance has made him a must-own fantasy starter.

  • Corey Kluber SP | BOS

Indians' Corey Kluber: Picks up 12th win

Kluber (12-8) gave up three runs over six innings while striking out three and walking two during Thursday's win over Los Angeles.

This was Kluber's third win in as many games, although it's his shortest outing since July 3. The former Cy Young winner's K/9 has dropped for three consecutive seasons, but that hasn't been a problem as Kluber's 3.27 ERA ranks among the top-25 in MLB.

  • Andrew Albers SP | MIN

Twins' Andrew Albers: Hurls six innings of relief

Albers went six innings and allowed five runs (three earned) on 11 hits while striking out five and walking one during the second game of a doubleheader against the Astros on Thursday.

This was Albers' first appearance in the big leagues since 2015, but it's most likely going to be short-lived. The 30-year-old was only called up because of Minnesota's doubleheader, and since he went six innings and threw 108 pitches out of the bullpen, his arm will be out of commission for awhile.

  • Tommy Milone SP | SEA

Twins' Tommy Milone: Scheduled for MRI on shoulder Friday

Milone will undergo an MRI on his shoulder Friday, LaVelle Neal of the Star Tribune reports.

Milone was not 100 percent healthy for his start Thursday and it showed as he was shelled for five runs in three innings against the Astros. Friday's MRI figures to uncover what's ailing Milone's shoulder, but if he is to miss additional time, it'd be a blow to the pitching staff's depth. Milone was moved to the bullpen and this was likely to just be a spot start.

  • Tommy Milone SP | SEA

Twins' Tommy Milone: Blasted by Astros

Milone (3-4) gave up five runs on five hits while walking two and striking out one in just three innings during a loss against the Astros on Thursday.

Milone was moved to the bullpen on Aug. 1, but because of Thursday's doubleheader, the left-hander was called on to start. With another poor outing, Milone's ERA as a starter ballooned to 5.46, making it likely the 29-year-old will be shifted back to the bullpen
